You're full of DayZ. ;) Sometimes things will get worse before they get better, it is an alpha. We can only hope that a fix will be applied quickly for those who are experiencing this error (which I haven't even seen once yet in this game). Are you sure that, perhaps, you might have missed the latest beta patch and this artifacting is the result of that?

If you talk, he knows your there and the element of surprise is ruined. Compasses don't point to people, they point to north. Pointing would be for instances where you needed your partners to focus directly at what you're focused at, and you don't want to give away your position (or you're not one for using meta-gaming devices like mumble and teamspeak). So this is simply a tool for increased immersion into the DayZ world.

Are you usually on the Recruit servers? There's an unknownuser who I frequently see on servers I'm on and could use a DayZ buddy.

But it should definitely be considered for a standalone version where they can program whatever animation they want. Imagine how your heart would race when you saw a survivor pointing at you from across a field, his two friends close in tow. Knowing they've seen you.

Last players I came across hunted me across the countryside. When they caught me, they gave me an M4A4 CCO SD (Or whatever that silenced rifle is) and released me back into the wild. That's my kind of game hunter!

I was too well hidden for someone to take a shot at me from 800m. They literally had to run over me to find me, I think. I'm glad they did, restored my faith in humanity just a bit. Then you guys on the forums go and try to shoot me and we're not even on a server. Awesome.

I know, right? It was so great, I heard "Thortimer, Thortimer. Stay where you are and don't do anything stupid." Slowly the barrel of a silenced rifles materializes from the bushes next to me. I was sure I had sufficiently hidden from the action that had been unfolding. I'm just glad I don't dc, this was sort of like a little reward for not bitching out of a definite lost battle.

I think what he means is, unless you get a headshot, zombies only go unconscious when you shoot them. Example: You expend you clip into a zombies chest and the entrance of an apartment. You proceed to continue inside the apartment for supplies. When you exit, the zombie you had taken down is climbing to its feet and notices you, beginning to attack.

I believe, and think many of you would agree, that while Chernarus is great, it was never intended for use in a zombie survival mod. This is evidenced by the tiny, mostly inaccessible towns and vast rolling hills. There is simply not enough to do and so much to not do it in. I'm currently on a vacation, visiting my grandmother in Iowa (Iowa City/Cedar Rapids/Corralville area) and it occurred to me, this could be the perfect location for the next zombie survival scenario, and here is why. Large towns/Small cities- Let's face it, Chernarus really only had large towns and villages, even cherno and elecktro aren't very large. These bigger cities and towns will make larger zombie hordes logical and the norm. Iowa City is a college town, wouldn't hoards of frat boys be a terrifying thing? Larger variety of terrain types in a relatively short distance- I went canoeing earlier today, and on the short trip to the large lake (which emptied into a river) we passed: Hills, thick forest, prairies, open fields, ravines, cliffs, etc. This was all within walking distance from the main road we traveled down for no more than five miles. Variety between residential, commercial, industrial, military, and agricultural areas- This area is very diverse, containing miners, farmers, businessmen, and every sort of trade in between. This would make for a bounty of areas to scavenge a complete variety of survival equipment. And if you don't think the Iowa City area would make a good, sensible location for the next progression of DayZ, where would? What I mean is: If the DayZ developers started work on a new map, completely catering to the whims of DayZ, what location would do surviving the zombie Apocalypse justice?

There's a few churches with high, open steeples. I could imagine a sniper nested up there picking off survivors around him.

That's the thing. It's just fine. It isn't amazing, or the best ever. And it could.

It's really a beautiful area, I imagine some of the ingame vistas would be gorgeous... A twisted behind a veil of death. ;)

Ok, then perhaps you should take a break from real life. That sound genuinely hellish and I'm sorry you're put through those situations on a daily basis. For people who don't though experience the hell of war, this is about as real as it'll get until they're in the ground. Why not let them live vicariously through non-corporeal avatars?

By saying I'd kill them (with what appears like little more than a second thought) and I'll carry on, you're proving exactly how desensitized to death you are. Look at exactly what the you just said. You sound like a monster. Example: How would you're grandmother (or anyone who hasn't been exposed to extreme instances of death/killing) react to that post you just made. She'd be appalled.

If you pull the trigger on someone who, in a desperate cry, begs you let them live and don't have a significant emotion behind it, put the game down. You've been desensitized to death a killing to a point I hope I'll never have to cross. When someone begs you for their life and you end it still, that should make you feel bad. You are bad, feel that way. But remember they woke up somewhere later on the shore and consider what you may have done differently in real life.

By extension, Old Yeller was just a movie, you shouldn't cry cause that dog died. It wasn't real. If this game made you stop a moment before you pulled that trigger about the ramifications of one's actions, then it did its job. And if this is just a game and we shouldn't care, why the fuck are we even fucking playing in the first place?

This.This just happened to me today. I got booted from the server (or it reset) I couldn't find him again. And it was the first (and only time so far) that I've found another friendly. It's funny how when you finally get something good going, the game throws a bug your way that almost makes you cry.
