Maximize Frame Rate On DayZ and Arma2 - Low Frames Fix
skunk.five@gmail.com replied to MorninAfterKill's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Unplayable performance on my laptop (nvidia NVS 3100M) - 5-10 fps at 1024x768. This brought me to a playable 22fps at 720p. Can't wait to try this on my gaming rig (GTX 560ti). Many beans for you sir! -
All 3 camps 200km apart raided in 6hours
skunk.five@gmail.com replied to okano666@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1. Your distance calculation was funny, and sets the tone for the whole post. 2. Your camps were on the edges of the map (maybe inset .5km here and there) -- this is my primary perimeter when I'm hunting for camps. Everyone plops their tent cities down here. When I find one, I note the position and move on. My team and I come back later to clean up. 3. Yes, hacks exist. Maybe someone used hacks to find your stuffs, but it's not guaranteed. You're not the first this has happened to (and won't be the last), but it doesn't take magical hacking ability to have done this to your team. My advice: Realize that tent cities with vehicles parked nearby are just waiting for a legit player (like myself) to find and pillage. Don't park any vehicles near your camps - if they bring heli's back those vehicle clusters will show up as bright red beacons of tear farming goodness. Also, don't set up camp near the edges of the map. It may seem like a good idea, but it only takes one man with a bicycle to trace along the edges to find your stuff. I can quietly cover the whole map perimeter on a bike in about an hour. Finally, distribute your stuff across servers, set up smaller one- or two-tent camps. This provides a hedge against hackers (or server nukes), and is a great way to help establish your team in other servers. It's not unheard-of that an entire server simply goes away, so having everything on one server is a risk in itself. gl, hf. -

Hey thanks for the car. Next time could you hit the dashboard with some Armor-all and wash the exterior for me? This one's got tears all over it. -

"I didn't sleep again last night. It rained all night and the damned cold kept me away anyway. I'd give anything for a heatpack at this point, and if I only had a hunting knife I could finally eat something. We came up here to get away from it, the murder, the hordes, the constant fear that anytime there's a weird moan you have to check your back. Things were going to be different up here near the airfield, where we'd share what we found, and we'd protect one another. The airfield was the promised land when we were many and constantly being ambushed or sniped in Big C. We were going to be smart, keep heading northwest, be careful. We started out six, and by the time we reached Stary we were down to four. Only Biggles and I ever laid eyes on the military tents. We offered to overwatch the other two as they ran into the town, we even gave us their binoculars. We postitioned ourselves in the deer stands adjacent to the town as they slowly made their way through the treeline to get closer. I didn't even register the shot as I was climbing into the stand when Biggles shouted that he spotted the sniper. By the time I drew my weapon and looked around both our friends were dead. Biggles took a shot and missed, the only time I ever saw him miss. But it cost him, and I heard another sniper rifle report, deeper than the first this time. Biggles was gone, and I knew I wasn't far behind. So I ran, and ran. I don't know how long it's been, it seems like a blur. I just know if I could get to the airfield, somehow, it will be okay, someone's gotta be there to take me away from this nightmare. My legs ache and cramp up, my stomach is tossing wildly from hunger and morphine withdrawl. But here I am, finally, the runway in sight. I'm scared to search it, but I'm delirious from fatigue and lack of sleep. I think I'm beginning to develop a cough. If I don't go now to find help, I'm going to die out here. Update -- A few minutes ago I saw some infected folks coming out from behind the tower... It's like they smell something. Update -- There are some guys around, I see at least one down on the airfield, checking the hangars. There's another guy on the outside, providing sniper watch. They don't look too bad, hungry like me, and I saw the sniper has a canteen and a can of beans. I really need water, badly. My throat's swollen terribly and its hard for me to talk, but he'll see in my eyes I only need help. I'm going to put my gun away, so they know I'm not a threat. Maybe the rifleman can help me, at least point me to some kind of safe zone, give me a bite and send me on my way. I'm so tired. God, please, help me through this. Please let there be one last desperate shread of humanity left in us all. Signed, Mike."

I was picking up and loot and suddenly
skunk.five@gmail.com replied to SugarFreeBrowny's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Towns (even the big two) not having any loot (not even tin cans) has always appeared to me to be a server side issue, and I chalk it up to high utilization on the server. The first few times I saw loot despawn, I chalked it up to my connection, or server update lag. Now I'm not so sure it's an isolated experience. I don't really know. Usually I wait around a while (sometimes things spawn in) until I get paranoid enough to remember sitting anywhere for extended periods equals death, and I move on, sometimes to another server. But it sounds like we've seen similar things. -

You know, I was all ready to pitch in and give you all sorts of great loot, then I remembered that you said you weren't gay. We could have been a great team. -
War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!

So, when I'm providing anti-Bandit overwatch for my team from a hill you're going to assume I'm a bandit? -
Similar situation happened to us last night. Heading into Berezino someone opens up on us from the trees. We scramble away and sweep to flank him. He meets us in the trees and we start throwing lead. We got the murder, but he DC'ed in time for his body to disappear, so no loot. Personally, I think there's no excuse for that.

Regrettably there's no way to 'force' all comms to go through the Direct channel. Listening to you, these guys would have either been crapping themselves in fear, or pissing themselves with laughter. Either way you get an posthumous "A-" for your effort. Great job eliminating the enemy, too bad you died doing so.
