Hello, - Server this happened on. FR100 - Time that it happened including your timezone. My timezone is GMT+2, it happened between 2:30 - 3:00. - What happened during the incident. We were approaching Stary Sobor in a 7 man squad. 3 AS50 snipers, 1 Thermal spotter (me). I was behind the super market (west) and spotted something glowing on the east side hill (behind the military tents). I told the sniper who was with me and everyone else so the had a look at it. Our rush team went for it and tried to flank. My sniper fired 2 shots from his AS50 and was sure to hit one guy 2 times. Those guys were also 2 g-suit snipers with AS50s. I fired 30 shots in their direction hitting a mate of the guy we just spotted who logged in. By now this should have caused that much trouble that they never would have been able to fire back at us. The rather common appeal of this situation is a logout. Nothing happened. They guys opened the fire on us and one after another went down. The funny thing about this is that our mates were spread in a 180° radius around them. 2 AS50s were placed north west of them our rush team went through Stary to the mobile toilets near the tents (one of them was shot through the toilets). We all tried to get access on the gunfight the same time and so those guys were in even bigger trouble BUT they simply rotated in 180° and all of us (except 2) died. I ran up to Stary like a marathon man trying to secure some of my goodies. As expected all our corpses were hidden. Another point which supposes they were hackers: No one runs around Stary like that just for the cause of hiding corpses when you got G-Suits and AS50s. You risk getting shot - but I guess that doesn't count if you have godmode... - Video proof Unfortunately I didn't record. I will try getting my mates to register here and proof this. - Pictures None :(

Godmode AS50 snipers on FR100
Y0shi (DayZ) replied to Y0shi (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The thing is, I dont event care about getting killed in DayZ. I love starting all over again. It's nice to loot Kamenka like you came straight from Jersey shore (in leeroy jenkins mode)... and I dont mind getting butchered by players who are simply better then we are - I just feel stupid for not instantly logging out and that is where I see problems coming in 1.7.2.4 (when you want to evade hackers)... I guess there's no sense in cheating in DayZ because you can't have fun I think... -
HI everybody, I'm in mood to write my glorious ideas :) on how DayZ could be improved - at least in my opinion. Feel free to comment any critics, likes or even your hate below. MMO inspired engine improvements First of all, I like the ARMA engine and its features. Some of the lighting techniques are great and also the terrain design is quite good in comparison to its genre mates like Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising which has a terribly cubic and non-smooth map design. BUT I guess the ARMA engine is overpowered for DayZ. I mean the graphics are really not that good as for example in Crysis 2 from Crytek which is - as I would say - the leading force in game-development today. If we have a look at the game AION we see a pimped-up Cry Engine 1 which was first used in FarCry 1 and everyone agreed that AION is one of the best looking MMOs ever. I know there's pretty much stuff going on in meanings of bullet calculation etc. etc. but what I finally want to say is that DayZ could have a more MMO inspired engine design which would make the gameplay more fluently and enjoyable. Currently all fps issues are rather coming from the server-side (if the server runs on low fps, you will run on low fps) or you who has a non up-to-date PC. I personally laughed about playing Crysis 2 on mid-high settings and having DayZ running on low-mid settings. I guess Crytek is one of the few developers caring about polishing their stuff before releasing it and therefore making it more compatible for less modern PCs. To conclude everything I said in this point: Let's look at MMOs and how they handle thousands of players on one server. They got a bigger map which I come to later in this thread, they got a better engine optimized for their needs and they are standalone (which will come soon). Season based playing This is a point I might get hated for but it's worth to be spoken out... at least I guess so. If we look at other games and how they emphasize PvP, we see season based gameplay. I guess that when DayZ runs for about 1 year, noobs have a hard time getting in to the game. Already now every second death of mine is caused by an AS50 sniper having a boring time and laying in the woods somewhere. If DayZ included something like a seasonal gameplay which then would result in some fancy statistics (combined with the upcoming group play features) like which squad / solo player lived longest or who committed most murders, I guess a reset after 5 months may make the game more beginner-friendly and also more addictive to play, because you have to do something after 3 months and so you don't get bored. I know this is just a very basic idea and might not be completely good as it is now. But I fear that in about 6 months - 1 year from now, new players will have a hard time getting into the game and gamers who play the game like forever will get bored. (I know Rocket insisted on making the game more interested for players in the end-game stadium - therefore it's just a raw blueprint of an idea). Bigger world, more interesting spots This is - I guess - the easiest topic of all. It's as easy as that: If you're equipped you raid the airfield if you're not you search for equipment in Kamenka, Komarovo or Cherno. If you had a world ten times as big as it is now, full of interesting spots for everyone (from ultra-noob just starting out to monster-pro playing the game like forever) you would get more diversity into the game which is obviously good, because your not so pushed into only one direction. That's it for my ideas :) As said above, feel free to love or hate me. I'd really like to get some feedback on those ideas and how you like (or hate :D) them. Cheers!

Well yeah I was actually not talking about the ARMA engine :D I never liked arma just a bit before DayZ and the sole reason for me of buying ARMA was DayZ, so I was talking about the future development of the game with maybe another engine ;) I guess everybody would like the idea of more players / server and terrain streaming but this is also connected to a "new" engine - unfortunately :( I read some cool idea about capturing points from Google Maps :D having a setting of real life ported to DayZ would be the best thing ever. Period ^^

I think zombie speed is just fine. The only thing which could be improved is adding some more zombie types which have different behaviour. The PvE part could be improved by looking at Left 4 Dead which has multiple zombie types. If there would be bigger zombies which cant be brought down with one shot or even one magazine but having some nice loot instead, this would open a whole-other door in this game. Btw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H-T7RPvt2k this is how zombies should move :D When I first saw the movie it scared the shit out of me!

Hi everybody, we - my mates and I - are experiencing heavy server lags (up to 3 minutes). Now these lags are not like players are jumping around and movements are lagging but the whole server freezes and suddenly the game moves on. When the game moves on a player ALWAYS "is loosing connection". To me that sounds like the server is trying to ensure everybody is synced and ready to move on but when someone looses connection the server freezes the game for the rest of the players on the server. I'd like to hear if anyone has experienced a similar approach of this problem: 1. Freeze 2. Player is loosing connection 3. Game moves on Thanks for you answers :) and sorry if this thing is already covered. Cheers! EDIT: Version is 1.7.2.3 and newest beta!

Hi everybody, FIRST OF ALL: THE NAME MIGHT BE QUITE IRRITATING - THIS IS A GUIDE HOW TO DOWNGRADE TO 1.7.1.5 AND KEEP ON PLAYING UNTIL 1.7.2 IS REALLY READY! since everybody's pissed of about not being able to play DayZ due to the new patch, a mate and me figured out how to still play. We just tested this with the STEAM version of the game. So here we go: 1. Download all .rar files from here: http://uk1.dayz.nu/latest/ - this is the last mirror I know with the 1.7.1.5 version of the game 2. Unpack everything 3. Make a backup of your /steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead/@DayZ/addons folder 4. Delete the content of the non-backup addons folder 5. Copy in your downloaded files 6. Make a shortcut of your /steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead/ beta launch link: At my computer it looks like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -skipIntro -mod=@DayZ" 7. Start via the shortcut 8. Play on the 1.7.1.5 servers and be happy :) Hope it works for you too. Good luck folks!

I really like the idea of bringing more dynamic events to DayZ - like you do with the handcuff story. The only thing is that there's a disconnect button... this fact and the fact it's just a game kill most of the great ideas and I guess this one too :/ Unfortunately most players just disconnect when they are forced to pull their weapons down... When there's a well driven punish system in the game this idea might work too.

If I look at how games are released this days I feel pretty comfortable with DayZ. ArmA 2 sucks, that's no secret that the engine will never concur to BF3 or something like that. But I guess we're talking about different genres here. Ppl are missing the spot that DayZ is based on a simulation engine and not on a LASER-BEAM-BULLETS-IMBA-EVERY-KID-CAN-HIT-CALL-OF-DUTY-ENGINE. No for real. I like DayZ and what it is. I dont have many issues with it and almost every situation looking weird can be fixed by being patient and trying around ;)

Since I really love DayZ and it's intense scenes I'd like to post my ideas on how to get rid of server hoppers. The usual appeal of a server hopper - experienced by me - looks like the following: 1. Get into position 2. Shut down the position by fencing, tank traps and sandbags (due to exploit which was fixed) 3. Do this on multiple servers 4. Log in from time to time and "happy looting" So how to shut this down: I'd be happy to see a system (based on the mainserver or something like that) which checks if people switch server often. Since this is nothing unusual (since I do this myself when server's are laggy, bugged or something like that) there has to be another stage of server hopping proof. I'd recommend then checking if the player picks up items quickly on multiple servers. Let's say if he picks up Item X on Server A and shortly after (5 mins or so) pickung up Item Y on Server B this guy might be a hopper. This also requires some care by the players of DayZ since this appeal can also happen by randomness, but I guess it is a start. Maybe the crew has some more ideas on it. I also hate fencing kits and sandbags. Let's be honest. Why do we use this items? I have never seen any sense in it. Maybe you could lock down your tent or something like that but still the ppl can switch server, walk into your barricades and then they're in anyways. So my oppinion on those "blocking items" is that they are just useful for server hoppers but useless for the "real-players". Feel free to comment and share thoughts and critics ;) Cheers!

My suggestion for an Anti-Hopper system
Y0shi (DayZ) replied to Y0shi (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Exactly. I slept over this ideas and thought about something like introducing a engineering item or something like that which can cut fences, remove sandbags and destroy tank traps. Second alternative would be despawning this blocking stuff approx. 30 mins after placing them. There is some use to them: If you want to secure a building together with your squad you might want to shut down certain entrances or exits. But this never lasts longer than 30 mins I guess so this would be a good point here. -
Sounds absolutely great. I would agree in almost every term. Military weapons like AKs are far too easy to get. Having more peasant like weapons which are unaccurate and help making fights in lower equipped areas more intense is a great idea. The Balota airfield for example would turn into a ragefield of combat :D Everyone would run there to catch a M16 or AK instead of just running north of Kamkenka and having a chance of nearly 100% having one ^^

GUIDE: How to still play with 1.7.2
Y0shi (DayZ) replied to Y0shi (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This is a weird problem. is this your first run of DayZ or did you play before? My mates got this problem solved by the following steps: 1. When they first tried to run DayZ from the USB copied files I gave them, they got the profile path shitty error 2. So they launched out of SixLauncher which worked fine 3. Now they downgraded and used the guide I made 4. When they started the game with the link, they just got into it without the error So it seems like updating to 1.7.2 via SixLauncher and then downgrading helps. But I'm not up-to-date if 1.7.2 is running fine now. This thread might be useless by now ;) -
GUIDE: How to still play with 1.7.2
Y0shi (DayZ) replied to Y0shi (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You guys with the error ran DayZ normally by the SixUpdater? I got the same problem with a fellow of mine whom I gave Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead on external storage to. He copied it over and tried running the whole thing from Worrom's updater but the same error happened. Holy cow :( Unfortunately I have no clue what this is... Can you confirm you got Arma 2 not by downloading it via STEAM but through USB sticks or whatever? This would help to catch the problem better and find a solution for you guys :) -
GUIDE: How to still play with 1.7.2
Y0shi (DayZ) replied to Y0shi (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Smart move. I logged in - together with my mate - on a server with only 1 player on it. When looting Cherno hospitals, the impossible happens. Only only frikkin motherf*cker on the server shots me and disconnects... Luckily my mate saved the corpse :D What I wanted to say: 1.7.1.5 is the best opportunity for low equipped ppl to loot. Although the bandit whores are still around :( -
