It is now taking me 2 bolts to kill a zed, whereas before today it would take me only 1.

What if in each server there is an occurrence (I don't want to use the word 'event') where at a random location on the map a significant amount of zombies spawn in and around it, say 50 - 100 zeds or maybe more. Could be at a southern town, could be at the NW Airfield, or Novy Sobor. If you are unfortunate enough to be in the location you are basically up shit creek without a paddle and it is up to the Survivors on the server to migrate to that area and wipe them out, no easy task. Or perhaps, no-one or not enough decide to deal with this situation and the town becomes basically a no go area (until server resets I suppose.) Am sure it would be a shmorgishborg of dead survivors, dead bandits, dead zeds, and a whole lotta loot. Could be fun or a nightmare. Thought I'd throw this idea out there.

How about if you disconnect whilst you are bleeding the next time you log in you have bleed to death upon spawning? -
