the r9 280x is the equivalent of the 7970 and the 770 is the equivalent of the 680. you'll be wanting the r9 280x, especially with BF4 receiving mantle support in december. arma/dayz on the other hand isn't very GPU intensive, a better processor will make a whole world of difference more than a new GPU. i upgraded from an fx 6300 to a 4670k and the difference it made in arma's performance was like night and day

exactly. the closest we get to this in the mod is ghillie suits, but only because they cant be removed from bodies. in SA i'm sure we'll get attached to our favorite clothes, but in the end its just gear you can find again, not something that would set you apart from a fresh spawn with good luck

what may be of more use is your ingame video settings, and also your average GPU usage ingame which can be found through a program like MSI Afterburner. This will help us differentiate CPU or GPU bottlenecks

without a doubt, a DayZ clone will reach Arma 3. however, it will be nowhere near the quality and level of detail of the standalone. it won't be expensive, so why not just buy both?

newsflash 20 fps drops arent uncommon in arma 2 even for beast computers, and is easily playable due to the slow pace. i actually find that its the only game i can play at 30 fps or less and not be completely useless. but now, about the food...stop letting bronies poison our food supplies.

i would love something similar to the secret labs in the STALKER series, maybe one in each major town or make new research facilities in barren areas to attract players to things besides airfields and pvp cities. Namalsk had an underground bunker similar to what i'm talking about, so it's not impossible.

i'm a server regular and also play with the admins. i've seen them die plenty of times with vehicles, and you know what happens next? We hunt the bastards down and take them back. sniperwolf, by the way you've presented yourself on these forums i wouldn't believe you if you claimed to be older than 12. you posted in the wrong forum as well, and you have absolutely no credibility. secondly, the UAZ was not destroyed, a group recovered it at that exact location and it is under our control now. the admins didn't even know it was at Rog until it was pointed out over mumble. Please don't try to tarnish the reputation of one of the best servers i've ever played on just because you were oblivious to the restart timer AND the automated messages about how to contact the admins.

if you're on a budget, you really can't beat AMD CPUs and GPUs. They are usually 50-75% of the cost of the competitors equivalent products. CPU: you can get a Phenom II x6 for around $100, or an FX 8-core for $150 GPU: a Radeon 6870 or 6950 will be your best options. You can get a 6950 on Newegg for $200 including BF3 and DiRT 3. motherboard: go ASUS. their mid-range boards are around $80-100 and extremely reliable. PSU: get a corsair 600w at the minimum. they are $50 and usually have rebates Tower: a coolermaster tower is a great option, the good ones are ~$50 all this is about $500, with room for tax/shipping if applicable. be sure to checkout Newegg.com, they have great prices and cheap shipping EDIT: oops forgot the RAM, Patriot makes a pack of 2x 4GB sticks for $50. still under $600.

i looked on my map to check my position, when i saw the icon for an old bike. instead of blue, it was red. i walked to the position, and when i moused over it, it said Old Bike instead of the generic white text. anyone know what this means?
