everyone saying 'hurr durr sandy arma clearly does melee' presents either a proximity triggered animation and damage script or a context-menu interaction the former is useless to a player, betraying ARMA's entirely skill dependant style the latter is useful for stealthing, nothing else -

@bla&c yes, and no it should not be changed, especially now zeds can lose track of their prey @publik gonna have to link the exact post proving me wrong, cause all I can be arsed with in that 23 page thread are the dancing crusaders (awesome) and scrolly-wheel 'melee' interactions (worse than useless for fighting zeds) -

1) ARMA cannot do melee 2) afaik this is ultimately the objective, but it's an alpha and the debug monitor is valuable for pinning down bugs people like myself will be unaffected: I keep a diary of my kills and deaths (not just numerical - each is detailed) - in maybe 150 hours (five weeks of addiction) I have killed 38 players, been killed 13 times, died to glitches eight times, died to zeds four times and the respawn button twice 3) I prefered it back in 1.5.7 (iirc) when zeds spawned 'too much' everywhere, thousands didn't :( 4) in my experience, smokes' radius of effect is too small and the throw animation takes too long for a lone player to safely decouple himself from his train smokes can troll chaps stuck in one-door buildings or to save a player stuck in a tent in stary, otherwise they're fail -

weapons are already nerfed as fuck: I just shot a guy in the face at 75yd with the DMR: that's a 7.62 NATO round in the face: the 7.62 NATO was regarded as inhumane, shooting someone with one was arguably a war crime and the the victim? stopped dropped and rolled, I had to shoot him twice more nerf weapons any further and destroy PvP completely -

but bjarn this isn't a glitch, this is you getting tackled by a zed that was captain of his high school rugby team -
I can now get headshots at 150m with my MP5 SD6, but it's a 1/3 chance and the target ahs to be slow/stationary so the DMR and PDW stay in my hands while the MP5 sits in my pack gathering ammo even though it's barely useful I can't drop the MP5: my team has found five, in a cumulative 1000 hours of play so yeah, when a weapon is less common than GPS and has only 50% higher spawn chance than NVGs it's rare enough and a note on ammo: the M4 SD and MP5 SD CANNOT fire subsonic rounds - both guns MUST fire full grain ammunition - for reasons the AKS 74UB [besshumniy] fires subsonic rounds

5) you swam with a tiny bit of paper and held onto it? have a medal your character is swimming fully clothed with a full pack, full pockets, an assault rifle and a sidearm you know why he drops it? because otherwise he will drown (PS your gear is still there, it's just under the water) -

I tried every single angle to explain why the questions raised by strangers in DayZ are vital to the experience you tried to pretend that a magical power to make bestest friends with anyone anytime wouldn't affect that at all and now you call me deluded -
this has got me twice: both times were on fresh spawns back in 1.5.x: I had never fired my gun, aggroed a zed or been shot at in either life: I just needed to find a server with >5fps the other day (1.6.1) it started buggering a friend who was DCing and re-Cing lots because the server was giving him 5fps on his brand new spawn but was fine for everyone else after half an hour of bullshit the timer finished only to leave him unable to stand - he was clearly having some kind of seizure down on the forest floor so I shot him in the head and solved the fps and timer glitches
