Hey Guys, the search option didn't give me any results so I just wanted to go for suggestion that would make me and I bet many other people very happy : Add some Easter Eggs to the game I love finding easter eggs in game and I always walk around looking for every detail on a map. So this isn't really hard to make and most people wouldn't even notice but those who do would definitely enjoy this. I thought about something like a "Rocket"-Zombie that only spawns at one location or things like that? The easter eggs don't have to give you any advantage, they should be there for amusement and excitement :) So come on! Post some of your ideas for easter eggs!
-
Has probably been suggested before but I like it :) you got my beans
-
That's the very definition of easter eggs in my eyes. The other things are just some kind of secrets, which can be nice too but that's not really what this thread was supposed to be about. Easter eggs shouldn't really be something like a special item but more something like a reference to a famous flaw of the mod as you mentioned it. Something like a place where a zombie drops from the sky and dies about 10 times a day.
-
wtf? just wtf?
-
Nope it didn't :) Edit : Well the search function is pretty fussy so it doesn't find the post if you type in "Easter Eggs" but only "Easter Egg". So now I found it
-
This has been suggested so many times.. if you got something original then please post it under the other 100 posts that have to do with booby traps
-
It really looks kinda stupid and I want to see someone rolling around like that with a weapon and a backpack. Well the way it is right now sucks even more but I don't think that this is the solution.
-
Maybe some famous "The Walking Dead" places? I'd like that :D
-
I also am pretty sure that it is already confirmed. Notepads are 1000.% (per mille) confirmed for the standalone. So you could make a notepad out of that. Thread closed? :D
-
Simple, yet awesome :D

You mean the "Yo dawg" one? I found that one hilarious either :D

Just had another idea! Why not giving you more than one way to get to loot. Let's take the example of the locked crate or door or whatever. Opening it with a crowbar would be relatively fast but loud and you would need a crowbar. But let's say you got some lock picks! You could open the lock with much less noise but it would also take much longer! I think this kind of stuffs gives us a whole lot of new opportunities. I could think of so much more!
-
Yeah like breaking a lock from a crate or something. You would need a crowbar and it would make some noise attracting zombies. To the original idea with the teamwork : I really like it and saying it discriminates lonewolfs is just nonesense. Accept the fact that working in a team does have many advantages and this would be a great example and would maybe make players cooperate with others more often! You got my beans :)

Well yeah that's the kind of stuff I am talking about, but maybe a little bit more related to the zombie apocalypse situation. Maybe even some "special" clothing that doesn't give you any advantage but looks different. So more like a prestige thing. Edit : Okay snowcrash42 found the video and added it to his comment so I removed it

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Ernst replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I guess in the SA they will focus much more on the surviving aspect with all the diseases and stuff so I guess this suggestion starts to be fullfilled :D -
You could even make some food inside and stuff! Awesome! I want it right now :D
-
I really like your idea :) But as other people have already mentioned.. the building thing would bring so many problems. Yet all the other stuff sounds great, although they would have to put an awful lot of work in this. And right now they focus on more fundamental things.. but for the future? Hell yeah! You got my beans :)

Hey guys :) I've been thinking about how much it sucks that people right now can change the server they play on at any time. This is what's causing easy combat logging, loot farming etc. People can go on a empty server with crosshair and 3rd Person enabled, gather lots of loot very easily and then go on a "Hardcore" server. That's just an unfair advantage, so how about you choose a "fix" server when you create your character. If this server is CH:Off and 3DP:Off (my absolute favorite) you should ONLY be able to play on servers with these settings (although there won't be any crosshairs in SA anyway) And if you want to switch between servers with those settings, you need to wait for a timespan of let's say 4 hours or so (to be discussed) This way you CAN switch servers when your friends play on another server but it doesn't allow Lootfarming, combat logging and other unfair stuff that doesn't add to the game's fun at all. Of course the servers have to be much more stable than they are right now, and if your server crashes You should be able to switch to another server immidiately So.. once again in short form : -You create your character on ONE specific SETTING you can't change then (e.g. CH:OFF 3DP:OFF) -If you want to switch between servers with those settings you need to wait a while (some hours?!) -Servers have to be much more stable or it will be a pain in the ass -It will be much more awesome! Please tell me what you think :)

New concept for Server System [DayZ Standalone]
Ernst replied to Ernst's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That's the key element of this suggestion - having your character locked to one kind of setting. About the time penalty.. well it would make server hopping useless for loot farming and combat logging. That's why I think the radical thing with your character locked to ONE specific server would be the best idea if servers were stable. But as they are not yet and maybe you want to team up with people you just got to know you should be able to switch servers with a time penalty if you want to. If you let people switch at any time they will abuse this feature as we can see it right now in the mod. Well having twenty characters for twenty different settings indeed would be confusing and hard to have an overview of everthing going on. But if I got Rocket right then this isn't what's going to happen. I can recall him once saying that you can't please everybody by making many differnet modes of the game. So I guess they will stick to 2 or 3 types of settings and then different characters for those settings would be a great deal IMHO -
Am I completely wrong here or can't you just make permanent settings about crosshairs and stuff for servers and make people to chosse ONE type of setting for their character? This way everybody can get what they want :)
-
I think it's just a rumor as I couldn't verify it but some people said that they wanted to replace the airport on Utes with a big prison. It is a great idea indeed as we already have 2 airfields on a 15km x 15km map so that's basically enough I guess :D Can anyone confirm this?

Watch the newest (and first btw) videoblog about the standalone. He gives some hints on how loot spawning will work in the future.

New concept for Server System [DayZ Standalone]
Ernst replied to Ernst's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well I was really surprised that I couldn't find something about this topic. Because I really think that it's important to discuss it. Sorry if I reposted, but can you maybe give me a link to the discussion so I can read it? :) And @gloopsgf I'm not sure if you have read anything above at all but if you would have you would see that it isn't pointless at all :) -
New concept for Server System [DayZ Standalone]
Ernst replied to Ernst's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah I'd really like to hear other people's opinion here as we only got 2 yet.. But you mention a good point.. the character would always be saved on the main Hive. So maybe let people switch the server if the server the characters are on don't respond Any other opinions here? :D
