DayZ v1.7.2.3
simonbenchapongwimon_7@hotmail.com replied to simonbenchapongwimon_7@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
^ That's all I did. Using SixLauncher does all the work for you. Not sure why everyone has to fiddle about with 20 different torrents and make folders in certain directories when one program does the entire thing for you. -
Ideas for game play
simonbenchapongwimon_7@hotmail.com replied to merrfack's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think in a previous patch you did require a toolbox to fix up vehicles, but it was removed, no idea why. But +1 to anything that nerfs barbed wire. Honestly, people need to fuck off with that stuff. At least make it smaller so you're able to vault over it, but so it still remains its effectiveness of stopping zombies and players from completely passing through it. This I also agree with, it's annoying having your leg broken by a stray zombie. Though the chance of it happening has been lowered, it's one of the worst things to be afflicted by. The possibility to fix yourself up in the wilderness is appealing. I disagree with the map and the "fog of war" sense of exploration, I've found it never helps to back to places you've always been, I feel you should always be moving forward, exploring deeper inland or along the coast. -
DayZ v1.7.2.3

I've got the new beta patch. 94444 seems to work fine with me. The thing that works for me: Join a server running the current DayZ patch, with any beta patch that is/or above 94444. Hello Killswitch, welcome. The way I found most simple was: -Installed Arma 2 (Steam - As Administrator) -Installed Arma 2 OA (Steam - As Administrator) -Run BOTH at least once. (As Administrator) - Needed for first time setup etc & to verify your CDkey, else you'll get all sorts of problems in game. -Download and install SixUpdater (As Administrator) - http://dayzmod.com/?SixUpdater -Run SixLAUNCHER (As Administrator) - Make sure you run Launcher and not Updater. -Big green install button under the DayZ logo on the left, it will install both the Beta patch needed and the DayZ files. -Pick a server with a low ping and not many players and join it! If you still have problems, come back and tell me specifically when you start getting errors etc. -

Are you honestly expecting two friends who want to play this game together traverse 225km^2 of land to find each other? Yeah no. If you can find me within 2 hours of logging on as a fresh spawn, point #3 will be valid. Here's a tip: I'm near some trees. -

DayZ v1.7.2.3

Unfortunately yeah :P Best bet? Go with a server that's outside your timezone, work it out so it's daytime and you can get used to the game in the light. Only just saw this, it was knocked so far down the announcement page I could only see the 1.7.2.2 topic. Will do. -
Just to ask... is there a way to remove it? Like disassemble it or anything of that sort? Because I agree, it's downright stupid when people are blocking up loot spawns and/or exits with it. If you don't want to remove it from the game, at least make it smaller so it's possible to vault over it, I can understand people putting it up to block zeds etc, but when it stops you from entering/exiting buildings it just gets a bit stupid.

out of ides and dont know what to do

The only place you can get it is from Steam itself, Bohemia aren't selling the Steam key of the original Arma 2. -

Thinking about it actually, Operation Arrowhead is supposed to be a "standalone" expansion I think. I always wondered why you couldn't just run DayZ via Operation Arrowhead - Which leads me to believe it may be because you've obtained your games from two different areas as DayZ obviously requires something from both. I've had nothing but bad experiences trying to play games and expansions via two different retailers - I think the problem arises when the online retailers sell it significantly cheaper than the original retailer you bought your normal game from, only to find incompatibility issues. I could be wrong, but I can totally see it being a problem. -

I still think it's because of the fact you're mixing an retail version with the Steam version! -
I give up on trying to install this thing
simonbenchapongwimon_7@hotmail.com replied to Occulus's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
^ That may be your problem. I've never had a good time when I've bought the game and expansions from two different retailers. My advice? Wait for the Steam sale to roll in and buy Arma 2 dirt cheap, (Remember getting it for about £2.50) or buy directly from Bohemia Interactive now as they have a 25% sale, and support them (https://store.bistudio.com/arma2-combined-operations-steam-version - £14.99) Unfortunately they don't sell original Arma 2 Steam keys so I linked the Combined Operations version which contains both for a reasonable price. Or if it interests you, get the Operation Arrowhead non-Steam version as I'm sure it'll be compatible with your retail version as they're dead similar. (https://store.bistudio.com/arma2-operation-arrowhead - £9.74) Edit:Clarification -

This sounds like such an isolated incident. Do you have a retail copy or a Steam copy? (This is going to be harsh, but...) -Uninstall everything. Arma 2, Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead. -Go to the program directory, and DELETE it. Make sure nothing is left. (For steam - Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Arma 2 - For retail, I'm guessing its Program Files\Bohemia Interactive) -Restart your computer. -Install Arma 2 AS ADMINISTRATOR. (Right click the setup and run as Administrator. For Steam, just make sure you run Steam as administrator.) -Install Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead AS ADMINISTRATOR. (Again if you're installing "Combined Operations, just run it as administrator.) -Run BOTH games once - AS ADMINISTRATOR. (This is necessary to verify the games CD key) -Download Six Updater from the DayZ website (http://dayzmod.com/downloads.php) -Install AS ADMINISTRATOR. -Run Six Launcher AS ADMINISTRATOR. -Click the green button underneath the DayZ logo to install the DayZ mod AS WELL AS the beta patch required to run the game. -

simonbenchapongwimon_7@hotmail.com replied to Occulus's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Literally run it, then exit the application. I'm guessing this is for Steam versions of the game as they need to do a first time set-up thing. Also I had a mate who tried to run DayZ without running the games at least once - he got an error saying invalid CD key. What is the actual problem you're having? Is the mod not loading correctly? Errors? At what stage is something going wrong? -

^ Installing DayZ via Six Launcher DOES THAT FOR YOU. - Don't waffle about with torrents and zip folders when one program does it for you. Also I just read a post about someone getting pop-ups and something attempting to change your homepage... That's definitely not Six Launcher, you may want to get your computer checked. -

simonbenchapongwimon_7@hotmail.com replied to Occulus's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What seems to be the problem? -Install Arma 2. -Install Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead. -Run them BOTH once. -Download and install Six Updater. -Run Six Launcher. -Click big green button under the DayZ logo to install and verify. -Pick a server, and play. That Six Launcher thing has made it almost idiot-proof to play this mod. -

Are you able to aim and fire your weapon? I get it sometimes where it feels my character is stuck in a crouched position where he can only crouch walk. Pressing the Prone key knocks him out of it with a leaping dive to the floor. -
Beta Patch Download Servers Down
simonbenchapongwimon_7@hotmail.com replied to mmine1's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Your best bet would be to download SixLauncher as it's the most simple and efficient way to install DayZ and the beta patch as well as keep it up to date. http://dayzmod.com/su.php Once you've installed both Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA, run them both once, then open Six Launcher once you've installed it. Hit install Dayz, massive green button, you can't miss it. As I said before, it installs both the mod and the required Beta patch required to run the game. -
Problem regarding walk/jog/sprint
simonbenchapongwimon_7@hotmail.com replied to dtkreten's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I get this sometimes, it's especially annoying if you're surrounded by zombies, but a good fix is just press prone. You do a sprinting leap to the floor giving you full control of your character again. - Again it can be deadly in encounters as the animation leaves you open for about 3-4 seconds.
