it would just be great to do so without risks. unefortunately the game is less then half fun when you can't talk and i found at least ten threads about this topic so there are many people having this issue. not just one or two.

There are many threads throughout the forum of people saying that direct comm is broken. Either they can't read anything or nobody can see what they are writing. This issue seems to be affecting only direct channel since Vehicle and group chat work fine. Since there is no global and side chat anymore people experiencing this issue are not able to communicate, which is really killng a core part of DayZs Gameplay. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2231-direct-voice-stopped-functioning/page__hl__%2Bdirect+%2Bcommunication Like stated in the post above, the issue seems to be related to the Arma II Engine and there is nothing that can be done until the next Arma II patch. This is a really serious problem and i think Devs should reevaluate their decision of disabling side and global chat, with this issue in mind.(I can understand that it adds more realism to the gameplay, which is cool, but not at the cost of disabling all communication methods for some people) Maybe it would make sense reenabling those channels until direct comm is fixed.

but why did you disable global and side chat then, if you knew that direct comm is broken? i can really understand that disabling those channels is adding realism to the game, which is cool, but since many people are just unable to communicate now you could have waited till the issue is resolved.

well how about not disabling global and side chat while this issue is still there. a lot of people are simply not able to communicate what acctually is destroying a key componet of the gameplay.

have the same problem. but i hvae no idea how to fix it. seems like we just have to wait. i mean at least there are so many threads about this topic that there must be an awareness of this issue.

which one is the server you play on? would be great if you could tell me then i could test if my chat is working or if the problem is really on the servers side.

no the chat is simply dead. global chat has been diabled to make the game more realistic right? i can choose direct, vehicle or group chat but none of them are working and direct chat doesn't work even if a player is next to me.like i said, i never get any reply. just don't know if they can read what i'm writing and i just can't see their answers or if they can't even read what i'm writing. does the chat for all of you work or am i the only one having this problem.

Hi, i can't seem to use direct chat. i just started playing dayz a few days ago. every time i meet a player i tried to communicate but it just doesnt work. i can type something in but nobody seems to be able to read it cause i dont get any answers. pls help. i bought the steam version (combined operations) im running arma 2 on beta patch 94444 and dayz v1.7.2 i use the sixupdater for launching and i'm running windows7 thx
