Pretty much, though I imagine there's quite a few others running it under Linux too.

Linux isn't officially supported but it runs fine using WINE.

Notch focused on bringing in game features rather than sorting out the horrible server performance, a year or so down the line and the optimization is still atrocious, was and continues to be a royal pain for server admins. Pretty much listening solely to fanboys and riding on his success train, though he was extremely lucky that Minecraft blew up as much as it has.

Good luck finding colo under about £70/m for a 2U, at that price there are much better rented boxes available.

Happened to me at 70/70, lowered slots to 50 and it's been fine since. I'm sure that bad optimization comes into play but I'm guessing theres some overselling going on too since you're on a shared server.

Mine's currently sitting at ~700m with 35 on - not sure where they got their figures from for RAM unless they optimized their code since they were first posted. If your server request is accepted you're sent an email with all the instructions and files.

As the post states you need to submit your server request at http://support.dayzmod.com/. Seems like there's a turnaround time of about a week.

Am I the only one experiencing this error as of build 94945 / 1.7.2.3? My server functions fine until one player logs in, any subsequent join attempts are met by that error in the server log. Clientside the player gets 'You were kicked off the game'.

People have apparently got it to run under Linux but I've yet to try it (Waiting for my ID).
