Orcworm replied to joebyrd's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Wasn't referring to 'OVH crap' either. :) -

BEWARE dayzhosting.com/Host Altitude Servers
Orcworm replied to joebyrd's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
More like 1.5x judging by some of the prices, atleast in EU. -
Needs to be much more frequent unless you have players willing to sit there loading for 20mins every time they want to join.

Anyone else had this occur to them? http://orcworm.co.uk/image/Cz8.png Guessing there's nothing I can do to stop idiots grabbing my name?

New server needs clan to move in.
Orcworm replied to wisbowmen's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
There's nothing wrong with a server not connected to the HIVE. -
Are people that run servers allowed to turn it off and on whenever they want to play?
Orcworm replied to dumah's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
That have become much more frequent as of 1.7.2.4 for whatever reason. -
About a week it seems to be.

http://www.leaseweb.com http://orcworm.co.uk/image/N8w.png You're going to have a long search ahead of you if you think companies as large as this have 100% positive reviews across the board though.

How we run UK105, And why we don't have hackers.
Orcworm replied to DatenThielt's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Not sure what you're getting at since practically no-one runs their server at home. The £50 you pay to a GSP could net you a proper dedi that would be more than capable of running a dayz server among other things. -

For just playing, no.

If you can't gather $50 yourself for a slotted server you shouldn't be running one in the first place.

I'll give you admin for a donation, enjoy being able to mute or kick people and... that's all there is. -
Attention: Rocket. Please review the DayZ server host rules.
Orcworm replied to Zoop's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Have any servers actually been blacklisted for passwording or is it an empty threat? So far I'm edging towards the latter. -
2GB is more than enough for 50 slots.
-
What you're thinking is completely possible, though it's not as simple as just removing the @hive folder, you'll need a private db setup to get it going properly. Google "tunngle your own dayz server".

I need help updating my servers Hive version.
Orcworm replied to Hauscat (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Extract contents of new Hive zip, drag to server directory via FTP and replace old @Hive folder there. -

About 15? Main bottleneck is the CPU in any case. If I were you I'd look more into colocation than renting outright, slot a couple of e5-26xxs in a box and it'd fly.

http://www.redstation.com 2 more SAS drives, gbit port w/ 36TB more bandwidth allowance and £160 odd cheaper.
-
Depends, strictly UK only or Europe in general?
-
Thankyou for reiterating my point.

Tsohost would be laughing all the way to the bank, you can do much better for £600 / month. IIRC ARMA 2 only utilises two cores (one main + one AI) so the excess power would be wasted anyway.
