  1. This has been clogging up in my nerve central and I have to get it out of my system. Time to time we see threads about vehicle hoarding, how it's unfair and ruining the game play for others, such as casuals. Every time this topic is discussed or viewed we get a rather large influx of people posting and playing the blame game. This just seems rather ridiculous to me and so I made this topic, to humbly ask for an explanation that would clarify to me how it's unfair exactly, and how is it ruining anyone's play time, casual or not. I'll try to sum up in a simple example how my mind comprehends the vehicle situation, and it goes like this: Vehicle 1 has a spawn point at location A. Vehicle 2 has a spawn point at location B. Vehicle 3 has a spawn point at location C. Person 1 finds vehicle 1 at A and moves it to a camp site far north, being location D. Person 1 also finds vehicle 2 at B and moves it to the same camp site at location D. He's now effectively "hoarding" vehicles. Person 2 finds vehicle 3 at C and drives around until someone shoots him and the fate of the car is unknown. Person 3 finds vehicles 1 and 2 at location D and proceeds to take vehicle 1 and shoot out the tyres off vehicle 2 for shits n giggles. Now explain to me, what is the difference between person 2 and person 3? How has the person 1 influenced the process of finding a vehicle for them? Because it would seem to me, the only thing that changed is the location from A and B to location D. What difference does it make if a person finds a vehicle at D instead of A, B or C? My common sense is saying that the answer is absolutely nothing. It actually seems that person 3 is happier than person 2 because he found 2 vehicles instead of 1 even if he only took one. Chances are he found a good camp site with tents filled with good lewt. He also has the satisfaction of ruining someones day good n proper. I'm going to say it like this: You can't hoard vehicles. You could when it was possible to park them 15km outside of the map, but now that you can't do it anymore, all vehicles are on the visible map for anyone to stumble upon, be it location A, B, C or D. Argue me please.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

There is actually a feature built in the arma 2 engine that "sucks" you in to the ground and hides you. Eventhough the grass doesn't render, on the snipers screen he wont see you prone there because on his screen you are "hidden". But for instance if you have a back pack on you, then that can be somewhat visible even though your body is hidden. To be completely hidden you will want to aim down on the ground while prone (simulates lying with your cheek to the dirt) and take off your bag so you will be as flat as possible.

Random Ships Around The Map In Dayz.

I'm sorry I don't normally do this, but but, I must. You seem like a smart young fellow. Do you know how to use a .? You only made like 2 sentences but my brain overheated and other half exploded and ruined my wall while reading them.

global ban lifted, then banned again?

This is to my knowledge impossible. Hackers can run scripts from their computer through their client that communicates with the server. The server communicates the changes to all clients. Hence when a scripter tells the server everyone should have cool items, the server does what it's told and gives everyone cool items. However, scripts are files run from the computer as processes. Files can only be passed by the server to the client. For instance, counter strike servers pass map and other related files upon connect to the client. I've never seen this happen with arma2 but apparently they can and do as well. However these files are determined by the server admin. As far as I know, without actually hacking access to the entire server, it's impossible to pass script processes to other clients only by hacking their own game client / running scripts on their computer. If someone has better knowledge and details, I would very much like to hear about the mechanics.

I thought I was saying just the contrary.

global ban lifted, then banned again?

I will laugh when you get banned for the first time for doing nothing wrong. I'll just tell you to stop hacking then. That'll show you!

Item duping fixed = More level playing field?

Completely different game with completely different databases, running completely different systems.

global ban lifted, then banned again?

In before: BE is infallible, BE can't never ever be wrong. Enjoy your ban. Got what you deserved etc..... BE is bullshit. Just as infallible as every other anti cheat programs out there, which is to say not infallible at all. I would love to see what kind of a herd of monkeys they have out there handing out the bans.

Item duping fixed = More level playing field?

In response to the topic title: Since everyone already has all the best gear, duped or gotten from bodies of dupers, I would say the playing field is pretty level. When duping gets fixed, than it won't be level at all, with huge contrast between player equipment.

Do NOT play on US 1226 (or any CorE server)

    Seconded, really.

Do NOT play on US 1226 (or any CorE server)

You would think it'd be possible to I don't know, remove them or edit them out with today's technology. If only we had something like text editors or maybe even an image editing program, something like that would make these things so much less troublesome :)

Never heard of CoRe before. Now I have. All I see here is that they are accused of hacking, they counter-accuse, not only don't they provide proof, but they go a long way to argue why they don't have to prove anything. This, more than anything, tells me that the entirety of CoRe allows hackers and hacking, and makes use petty counter blame tactics to hide their misdeeds. In this game and apparently every other game that they play all around the world. Providing proof costs you nothing, clears your name and makes you look like a bunch of legit guys who command some respect, here and elsewhere. Not providing proof and arguing against providing proof just goes to show you don't care and that you don't mind your name being shit, why would a shitty clan care for a shitty name? I guess it's kinda hard to just do the easy thing and provide the proof when you don't actually have any.

Multiple DayZ accounts (useful for shared computers)

If you're using your default steam operation arrowhead launcher to play dayz (not the added shortcut of the beta client) then steam will overwrite the registry key with the cd key that came with the steam copy. There is currently no way around it, other than always running the beta client that isn't directly steam controlled.
  14. I've been spending some time around cherno and mainly the western hill from elektro powerstation. Yes I've shot some unarmed people, armed people, noobies, groups of experienced players etc... but disregarding those, the group of who I've killed the most of is the snipers around there. You wouldn't believe the amount of pvp that is to be had just by sitting on the hill west of the powerstation. Nine out of ten times there's someone around there or on the northern tree line. I've only got 9 kills so far. Of the nine all are the people I've sniped are people roaming around the area. But I've actually ended the life of 15 players. The kills haven't been added to my murder / bandit kill count. Why? Because every time I shoot one of these as50 / L85A2 / M107 / SVD snuggling pieces of garbage (yes, my kin), they disconnect. Not when I start to shoot, not while I'm shooting, not after they've been hit, but right when they're dead or dying. Just before the server tags the death. result: player got his ass handed to him, he's dead, the body disappears, no murder for me, no body running to him. It's the absolute null of an outcome. No one gets anything. And I don't even mind the loot, I already have everything. I'm just interested why go through the bother of disconnecting when you're dead in 3 extra seconds. Is it to prevent me from getting loot, in case I wanted some? Is it in the hopes that you will somehow magically roll back and not be dead when you reconnect? Is it to prevent me from getting the murder? Or something else? If you do it, have done it, do tell about your motives.
  15. Daddy'o (DayZ)

    Shot. Down. Disconnect. Why?

Last guy I killed, funny story, he had an m107, I heard him couple of times, but always had to stop to wait for more shots so I wouldnt accidentally ran infront of him or too close to him, and so I rolled while prone (as it makes close to no sound) to the treeline I heard the shots at. A good almost 10 minutes later of silence, I spot him. 5 meters away to my left......... With my m16 on semi auto, I empty 15 rounds to him (confirmed hits), at least a couple hitting his head. He's down, bleeding like stuck pig, his friend with an L85 starts unloading at me, missing and I get away. As I'm backing away I see the corpse disappear, and no murder appears on my screen. At this point that's the 6th kill like that I think. The guy's most definitely dead from 15 direct m16 hits from 5 meters. But the server takes that crucial few seconds to log the kill. At this moment he disappears. No matter wherever he spawns, he'll already spawn dead fresh from the beach. He won't even get the unconscious state or anything, I know this from experience having been using this method a couple of times with zombies.

Yeah, claims other people are hackers and then goes a looong way to argue no proof is needed. I call bullshit on this guy. Just makes it look they really ARE the hacking side. Proof or GTFO hacker.

Duping: 3/4 of High Level Gear is Duplicated

Weapon durability. The more you use a weapon, the faster it will break. Broken weapon becomes useless and is deleted from the game.

Duping: 3/4 of High Level Gear is Duplicated

Exactly. And this is happening for every high value item. Mainly rangefinders, NVGs, SVD camos, AS50s, L85A2s, M4 SDs and such.

Duping: 3/4 of High Level Gear is Duplicated

Even if duping was fixed, item inflation would cause the very same result although at slower pace. Many people consider AS50 to be the best sniper in the game, hence any player would be most likely to pick it up. These would only be left behind by mostly by players that already have one. Only the small portion that would be left behind up to the next server restart, would disappear from the game, all the while more is constantly being introduced IN to the items pool.
  21. Thank you denizens of server France something for restoring my faith in DayZ pvp. I was a lame ass fucktard camping elektro area with my svd, and all the rarest gear possible, bored to tears. Especially you, the crew of 4-6 people around the power station. All you met brave ends without even a hint of DCing. Ghillie guy on the top floor, another guy on second to top, 2 guys on the roof, one behind the civilian house next to the power station and the one who disappeared. Also cudos to everyone I shot and wounded around elektro area, all 4 of you, who did the bee and struggled to get safe instead of just alt + f4ing. You have my respect. Come and get your revenge, I'll show you the same courtesy you showed me :) Also, who the hell ever was flying that chopper, messing around with automatic weapons and caused all those explosions, I hope it wasn't your chopper that was blowing up, although judging from the way you were flying I think it was :D AWZ, Cyanux, John, KYU, Stiletoto75 and the rest :)

Killed 7 people today, and wounded 4, no DCs

Hardly any e-peen to stroke by camping elektro :D I just wanted to contrast the whine boards with something positive. Also, interesting that you should talk about pointless threads with the quality of your posts! Have some beans.

The 4 person team had some coyote bags which are quite rare as well. I consider that loot I'd rather keep :)

Not sure but I think 2 might have been. Didn't get a positive on a gun on those. The other one looked like he had succumbed to his fate. He got hit, started to bleed, crawled behind a house and after I switched positions and missed him once, he just turned around to look directly at me, staid there for a good 10 seconds while I reloaded my single last round of svd ammo I had left, and hit him smack in the head. I don't think he could see me since I was at least 400 meters away and ghillied next to a bush, but it felt like wordless conversation was had during that 10 seconds. "Yeah, you got me. Finish the job and let me meet the spawn again. Take this karma and carry it. May it come around to you and revenge me." "Don't worry man. It always does.."..click, *bam*.

You'll either live to see yourself become a bandit, or get bored to tears of sitting in a forest with good gear and shooting zombies. At that time I'll either ask if you're having fun or call you a hypocrite.
