But... my question still stands? If people really WERE friendly toward each other, where would the fun be after you got all your gear? You didn't really address my question. All the folks who say this game is shit because of this usually are people how play really casually or haven't been playing for very long. When these players reach the point that they have say, an AS50 sniper rifle, L85A2 AWS thermal weapon, Ghillie suit, a car, range finder, night visions and all the tools, there's hardly no point, because what are you gonna do with your sweet gear? Zombies don't care about ghillies. They can't tell apart a winchester from an AS50, both work just as fine. At this point these people who whined about shooting on sight end up using their hard earned gear on other players regardless of who and where they are. They shoot on sight. Because that is the only thing left to do at that point. Also, when you are under geared, what's the best way of finding gear for yourself? Killing other players who have already accumulated some gear. Best kill everyone you see because you can have their stuff.

I've had this happen and I spawned where I first entered the vehicle.

what would be the point if everyone was friendly toward each other? What would you imagine doing when you got all the gear you want?
-
Yeah. There are no friendlies here, if you meet a person in game, he's your enemy even if he says he's friendly.
-
Also, the search function is your friend. Also you double posted the thread.
-
Question is, did you have fun?
-
So...what's the point?? A noob's observation.

Welcome to your very first sandbox game :) Rules of the sandbox are: 1. Play however you like with the tools that are given 2. Some people always piss in the sand, avoid them or join them 3. Make your own end game. Have fun :) -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicles off the map reset in under 12 hours. This is why you can't store vehicles off the map, like I said in the OP. Firstly, those admin abuse threads we get are people who found a camp, took a car, and one of the many, many server restarts servers go through per day happens to hit around before they can stash their vehicle. They immediately come to the forums to cry wolf. Truth is, every time a server reboots its most likely this happens to someone. Locking the server does no good to the admin, even if you steal his vehicle and he notices and locks it, what then? It's not like he knows where the vehicle is so he can get it back. Firstly, could you tell me which 3 servers you run so I'll never join them by accident. You seem to be one of those exact ass-hat admins who abuse their power like no other, since you seem to be 14 judging from the way you post, saying people have serious mental illnesses like they were something to laugh about. You're not superior to anyone man, no matter how many servers you run. No need to look down on people, but you're seriously making us look down on you with your childish posting. I wouldn't say your posts are really 'worth' much either as you pointed out to someone else... -
I'm taking bets on this; I say WarZ will be entertaining and will ride comfortably on DayZ's reputation, but the fun will run out really fast because WarZ is exactly what DayZ isn't, a hand holding, forgiving play environment that does not brutally and cruelly kick you back to the shore with nothing when you die. It'll have shit like character progression, safe zones, ability to store equipment safely... People in DayZ want these too, some times, but don't realize that DayZ is so popular and exciting like nothing else BECAUSE there is NO hand holding here. Who's with me?

I doubt satchels survive a server restart. -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I myself have have been person 1 and 3 mostly. I went north. Established a camp site 1.5km north of the north eastern airfield. Then I headed west in a semi direct line, running both in the gorge and on the northern border hills. It took me 4 trips to reach the north west airfield, because I kept running in to stashed vehicles. I found 1 white pickup truck, UAZ, some kind of a military vehicle of another sort and finally an ATV. All within 1 hour. I drove em all back to base, and hid them in the most effin secluded region on the map with other 4 vehicles I had found in the northern woods in the previous week. On the same day, someone walked in on the stash and stole the UAZ and blew up the rest for shits n giggles. Point is, person 3 most definitely finds vehicles because there is no such thing as hidden in DayZ. Anything you TRY to hide will be found sooner or later. Only a matter of time. Try it if you think it's that simple. My point still stands. -
Return of the CZ 550?
Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to Ruthless Raptor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You lie! There are NO CZ spawns, especially in barns. Every time I enter a barn I find 6 hatchets. -
FYI - L85A2 AWS is alive and well in 1.7.2.4

Wish they did something to the SVD camo already. I've found 3 in 2 months, and all 3 have either disappeared from my bag or hand or have been suddenly replaced with the weapon I had before the SVD. Annoying as hell. -
vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're assuming people who don't hoard vehicles (in other words owns 1 car or such) stashes it close to the coast, which rarely happens. Most likely people who don't hoard vehicles and do not collect them still take them as far away from high traffic areas such as the coast. EDIT: And if you figure that stashing vehicles in general is considered hoarding, would you go through the trouble of fixing a vehicle just to drive it from A to B and then just leave behind? I don't think so. -

Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And when player B) walks in to their camp? How is it different than finding the car from a random spawn location? Also, I appreciate the concern for my health you're showing, and I would feel better if you yourself took some tests, you know, just to put my mind at ease. -
How do i approach this forum in the best manner possible? /Hi
Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to Tibra's topic in New Player Discussion
Rocket hasn't earned even 1 cent from this mod. Nothing. Nada. Only Bohemia Interactive that created ArmA 2 gets money when people by their game. DayZ developers don't get anything. Also, since when does youtube take skills to use? Unless you have lots of subscribers that follow you actively, you have no youtube skills :D EDIT: Also adding I read the OP 3 times and couldn't spot a question or a statement from there. Dafuq? -
Weapon Changes in ArmA2 1.62
Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to jaba01's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Zombies are dead. They shouldn't die from anything but a headshot at all. Walking Dead style. -
Found a tent today with NVGs, Antibiotics, M4 CCO SD, SVD Camo, SD stanags, M4A3 CCO, Ghillie suit and less rare items. Then I found another set of tents with M16 ACOG, another M4 CCO SD, 3 Bizon SD no ammo tho, 8 Stanag SDs and less rare items, among 36 cooked meat :D All in a days work :)

Multiple characters not working since 1.62
Daddy'o (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Heya folks! I just returned from a 2 week smooching trip and as I read the 1.62 is out. I set it up and now I notice I can't use the registry key change to switch between my characters anymore. Obviously it has something to do with the 1.62 being run as Combined Operations instead of Operation Arrowhead beta client. I was wondering if anyone has found a way around this? I'm using the path [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA] to change the key. Ideas? -
Multiple characters not working since 1.62
Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But you can't dual box like that can ya. And by bothering you mean double clicking a file on the desktop? Seems to me that's easier than messing with multiple windows and steam accounts without the ability to dual box :) -

Dual boxing accounts step by step guide
Daddy'o (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Alright I keep getting loads of PMs from people who are asking help and instructions how to do this, so finally I made a step by step guide and made it as simple as I could so no one would have too much trouble working this out. NOTE: This is not a guide to dual boxing the game with one copy of the game. You will obviously need to buy another copy of Operation Arrowhead. 1. Install operation arrowhead 2. open windows start menu 3. type in the search "regedit" 4. open regedit 5. using regedit open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 6. open SOFTWARE 7. open Wow6432Node (win7) 8. open Bohemia Interactive Studio 9. open ArmA 2 OA 10. On the right hand side of the window, double click the file that says KEY. Those 15 pairs of numbers and letters are your character specific key. This determines which character is being loaded when you start your OA. 11. Write down the key. Only the 15 pairs. ----------------------------------------------------- Now you will need to buy another copy of the Operation Arrowhead, so you will get another key for your other character. You can install that copy either by A ) Installing it under a different windows user on the same computer B ) Installing it on a different computer. After you have done either, repeat the 11 steps above. ----------------------------------------------------- When you have both keys written down: 12. Open notepad 13. Copy paste this in to the notepad: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 OA] "KEY"=hex:XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX,XX 14. Replace the 15 XX pairs with either key you wrote down. 15. Save the file as 16. Save as type "all files" 17. name your file mycharactername.reg ----------------------------------------------------- Repeat steps 12-17 but use the other key code you got from the other Operation Arrowhead. ----------------------------------------------------- To play both characters at the same time: 18. double click either of the .reg files you just made. Hit ok and see if it says the changes have been successfully added to the registry. 19. Boot up operation arrowhead. 20. Get on a server. 21. Press esc. 22. Alt + tab out of the game to the desktop 23. right click the other .reg file you made. Check if it says the registry was successfully updated like last time. 24. Boot up another instance of operation arrowhead so that you have 2 open. 25. Get on a server. 26. Alt + tab between 2 characters! If something's fucked up, try using REGEDIT5 in the start of the file instead. Try running the reg files as administrator oor... use google! That's what I did :D -
