  1. Hi I climbed a deer stand's ladder, and fell down when I reached the top, apparently my character tried to walk through the wall... I didn't take any damage, I climbed it again and took a look at the loot, and then disconnected to grab something to eat. And now everytime I connect to a server I pass out for 5 minutes. Is there any way to stop this? Thanks

    FPS Guru interview

    Rocket just did an interview at fpsguru.com Here's a really quick summary of what he said: He thinks about removing the respawn button and adding a suicide animation, and you'll need a weapon to kill yourself. He wants underground bases, got inspiration from X-Com, he'd like to be able to introduce new regions, "being able to go from one island to another". These underground bases would be in another instance, separated from the main map. Zombies hearing will be fixed next hotfix. The zombies spotting was tweaked during last patches, and is based on probability : the probability to be spotted when getting closer is higher. They could fix the zombies going through door but not in this mod, only in a stand alone game. He's been working on the disconnection during firefight issues this week. They going to track people's login and logout, and put a cooldown on respawn, and start to punish you if you do it a lot during a long period of time. There is no confirmation of a stand alone yet. If there is one, they'll release a really polished product and it will cost around 15€. (20$) In a stand alone there wouldn't be a single player/coop mode. It will be an open world survival zombie game, even if some players are frustrated by it. He doesn't want a designed story line, but rather elements in the game that tell a story (newspapers...) He supports locked cars. He wants Eve's capital ships in DayZ, ie. bases to defend that take years to build. Ability to customize your character is a huge priority. Clothing, bloods on your hands if you touch corpses, a jacket would protect you from rain... First fighting will be added. Grow your own food in underground bases. He'll try to add farming in the mod, before the stand alone. Different zombies: for example malnourished zombies would walk slower, but no boomer like in l4d No skill points. Ever. Fishing and skinning animals will be added. Bears and wolves, more sickness, more coldness, blizzard... more survival elements. They worked on dog companion but it's very buggy, they don't run up and down hills. But he thinks they would be "a really cool addition". He wants ageing and beard. The world is unfair and unbalanced and it will stay that way. He wants to add "nonsense items" and let the players decide what item to use as a currency, so no "real" currency will be introduced. Their goal is to get 200 players per server, so they're working a lot on improving performances Next patch will mainly fix bugs. No "sanity" system, he doesn't want to restrict what players can do. He won't develop a trading system. He wants players to make the trading system themselves. No safe zones. Zones have to be defended by players themselves. He wants to add snow and other climates but there are a lot of technical limitations. He destrusts server-driven features, he prefers players-driven systems (trading, safe zones, bases...)

    For the 100th time, admins can't teleport or mass-kill players. Only hackers can do that.

  11. It's not an admin who's abusing its power. An admin can't start a "deathmatch" mode and teleport people (as reported here: http://dayzmod.com/f...es/#entry414547 and here http://dayzmod.com/f...es/#entry414754) It's a HACKER who's teleporting everyone and you're accusing the admin, nice. As for the server restarts, shit happen, some servers crash, maybe some hackers even found a way to overload a server and make it crash.

    Low FPS only on DayZ

    Same problem, I get 60 average FPS on benchmark 1 in Arma 2, 12 FPS in benchmark 2 (the one with 10 helicopters and planes, 20 tanks, explosions everywhere...). In Cherno in DayZ I'm happy if I have 15 FPS :/

    Hi So I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my computer. I can't run DayZ at more than 15 FPS in big cities. So how many FPS do you get in cities and in the country side?

    I changed some things in the AMD control panel and set the virtual memory on C:/ to 6.5Gb. I then tried the first benchmark from Arma Combined Operations. With every setting to the lowest, I get 61 average FPS. With textures, objects details and shadows set to normal, 45 FPS. I'll try again in DayZ :) EDIT: 13 average FPS in benchmark 2, 15 average FPS in Cherno with all settings to the lowest.

    Yeah I'm on a laptop, my processor is this one, it's 2 cores: http://ark.intel.com/products/52952 Is there any way to boost the hard drive speed without buying a SSD*? I heard about a program that can use the RAM as a HD, should I use it? *btw, I already defragmented my hard drive

    Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit Intel Core i5 @ 2.67GHz 4,00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 532MHz ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1 Gb So the game runs at around 15 FPS in big cities with everything on low, even with a resolution of 800x600. I tried everything from this guide http://pastebin.com/BiSnmAj7 and from others. I bought Dead Island today and can run it at 50 FPS with every setting on high and a 1680x1050 resolution. I run Arma 2 at around 40 FPS in Cherno (I launched a custom mission with around 40 NPC) in single player.

    He said there will be a 5 seconds timer already (here). Setting this timer to 30 seconds instead of 5 seconds wouldn't require much coding... and it would solve entirely the problem (can't logout to avoid death anymore!)

    Does the new system detect if we esc->abort to avoid death? This system won't prevent abuses as it's impossible to know if someone disconnects because he heard footsteps or because he needs to go irl. What if I want to play on a night time server and have to disconnect/reconnect 5 times? Will I get punished for that? Why don't you simply put a 30 seconds delay before your character disappears from the world, instead of 5 seconds? Why build such a complicated system instead of a very simple one that will completely eliminate the disconnection abuses?
  25. Spede, are you sure the knock out lasts for hours? How long did you wait? If you logged out while in "shock", you pass out but it should last only 5 minutes.
