My squad just got killed and our truck stolen, so that's still quite a dangerous world. Also, it's extremely difficult for new players. Finding a weapon, sneaking past zombies, running away from them... is really challenging if you didn't already play a lot. -

Hey, I just died today, then I played a few hours, found 2 revolvers, food, water, bandages... and killed only 5 zombies. Just play and die until you master the game :) -
Because if a player finds your camp where you park your vehicles, he can only take one of them. So if you have a lot of cars he can't take them all, but if you only have one, you're screwed.

It's called PvP. You knew it was PvP before buying the game. You knew you could get killed at anytime by anyone. Why did you even play the game if you can't stand PvP?

There will never be a reward/punishment system. In real life, you get reward and punishment from society and the State. If you commit a murder, the police asks questions to witnesses, find your DNA, try to find you... and throw you in jail. In DayZ, there are only ~50 humans left in a big country, there are no more cops, no law, no State and often no witnesses. Realisticly the only reward you can get from not killing people is that 1) you can make friends (but you take a big risk if they decide to kill you) and form a clan, and 2) you won't get shot at if you run away from everyone. The punishment for killing people are non-existent, except if you get killed yourself. Any other system will completely breaks the immersion in the game. The game is full-pvp, it's a lawless non-society simulator, where small groups of players struggle to survive by any mean necessary. You're not supposed to get punished for trying to survive.

I found a car at a spawn point that was perfectly fine. I don't know how much time you have to wait for the respawn, but I know that if a player saves the vehicles somewhere, it will stay there even if there's a server restart. Players hoard all the vehicles they can in the forests, and I don't think they move unless destroyed. The only time I found a car at his spawn point was when the server had just opened and I was one of the first player.

I think I played the game almost 100 hours, that's more than any other game. Best game I ever played, despite all the bugs, but I've got a biased opinion as I love permadeath full-PvP games. It's definitely not for the faint hearted. I can't believe my eyes when I see people complaining about getting killed and losing all their inventory... as if it was "unfair" and the game was boring because of that. Losing everything is what makes the game so intense. That's the first time I ever shake of fear, excitement and adrenaline rush in a video game. My best moment so far was with my small squad of 4 players, we were in a truck full of weapons, ammos and car parts, we were driving down a hill and I saw a car in the distance. And I was so excited because that was the 2nd car we found in 2 days. And then I saw faces in the car. I shouted "THERE ARE PLAYERS INSIDE, GET OUT, GET OUT, FIRE!!" I was firing at them, our sniper shot one of them, we almost destroyed the car, we ran to get the loot. Not being able to aim properly because your hands are shaking and you're sweating IN REAL LIFE is so awesome, that's exactly what gaming should be. It reminds me of old games from the 90's, where you had to finish games in 3 lifes or you had to restart from the beginning. There is a real challenge and you really feel like you accomplished something when you succeed. Even getting killed and losing everything is fun, you've got to start from the beginning, but it's fun trying to find some shitty weapons and a few can of beans, attacking a supermarket with a hatchet and killing a dude with a gun inside... God I love this game! -

+1 I introduced a friend to the game, gave him all the best possible gear, and he died during his first firefight against a server hopper.He was so mad that he almost stopped playing. We kept going so he followed us, but I understand his rage. Also my own team mates tell me sometimes to alt+f4 when we're fighting too many zombies. I tell them it's cheating and we have to die like men, but apparently a lot of players think it's perfectly normal to d/c and speak about it openly, as if it was a valid strategy to survive. -

Hi 3 of my team mates were playing on a server, they were driving a car when suddenly they were teleported somewhere. They got out of the car, someone was crouched right behind them a shot them. My question is : could it be an admin? Could it be a cheater? Can cheaters teleport people? Thanks

There's no point in playing DayZ if there's no PvP. Once you have a gun, the game is really easy against zombies, and you don't risk losing anything. The real fun comes from fighting/interacting with other players. IMO there aren't enough players on 1 map, there should be 200 per server, that way you really take risk by visiting cities to get supplies. -
It's zombie apocalypse, you're starving, all you have is a hatchet, you need a weapon and be healed. Someone comes toward you, heal you, kill the zombies around you. He has a weapon, food, a compass, a map etc. Letting him run away would be a mistake. So you either do 2 things : start talking to him on skype/teamspeak and play together from now on, OR you kill him to grab his stuff. That's not horrible, that's the way the game is.

building a base or house with raw materials

I thought about it too. It could be abused to block doors and roads, just like barbedwire, but there's a simple solution : being able to build the house only in the forest. The game can already check if you're standing in a forest when cutting tree, so it can also check when building a house. I remember in the Ultima Online days, when players were able to build houses in the forest, there were entire players-built villages outside of the NPC towns. Except in UO we could cut trees, and maybe we can't remove trees in real time in Arma :/ -
Suggestion - Disable Server Transition

Servers are privately owned and managed by players. What are you going to do, ban random servers until you reach the allowed number of servers? Again, is Rocket going to send money to the server admins so that they can afford a 80-slots one? -

I was with my 4-players squad in a truck. We ran into a car with 2 players inside. They got out, started firing at us, we killed one, the other disconnected, we ran to their car, and the other guy spawned behind us, killed one of us and disconnected. The guy from my team who got killed was a new player. It was his first fight, and it was against a server hopper, now he's so pissed he doesn't want to play anymore. Please Rocket, fix the game, put a 30 seconds timer before your character leaves the game after you disconnect.

I stopped reading here. There is no "bandit problem". It's a post-apocalyptic survival game, with very few humans left and everyone struggling to survive. Of course people are shooting others, because everyone is a threat. There are no more laws, no more witnesses, all is left are dangerous zombies and scarce weapons to defend yourself. Find a clan, get their trust and play with them. That's what I do and when we meet another player he runs for his life.

Is it possible to make a custom server not connected to Hive?

It's because you try to move an item from your main inventory to your backpack, which is almost full... it deletes the item if there isn't enough free space in your bag. In previous versions it swapped the items, now it deletes it. I reported it on the bugtracker. -

To everyone stuck on loading, DOWNLOAD THE BETA PATCH 94876 HERE : http://www.gamefront.com/files/21978430/ARMA2_OA_Build_94876.zip Launch the .exe and install it. Now you should be able to join the 94876 servers. -
Yeah this video is an example of the greatness of this mod. You risk so much at every shot fired, it makes you stress, go crazy, celebrate victory and get mad when you die. I haven't had this feeling in any game!

I was at Green Moutain (037 093) with 2 other players, we all had automatic weapons (AK and M16), and the zombies respawn was INSANE. At first there were 10 of them, we killed them quickly, and instantly 5 others respawned. We killed them, advanced carefully toward the building, and after a few steps 10 other zombies spawned! 3 men armed with automatic weapons, and we had to run away! 15 minutes later, we found a barn, and again, we had to kill about 20 zombies around the barn, even though there were only 5 at first, but they just kept respawning.

Then don't put yourself in a dangerous situation right before a sport game. Just logout 10 minutes earlier, in a safe spot.

Ammo clips get refilled after each reconnection. The only exception I found are the flares, the quantity left in a stack is now properly saved. It makes the game 100 times easier, you can run in a supermarket, shot 20 zombies with your AK, logout and log back and have all your bullets... If your backpack is full, trying to put an item in it will delete this item!
