People who just stay on a hill and snipe noobs are very rare. I only got sniped once in a military camp. In other cases, there is a cause to kill players. You need food and gear, you kill players to get it. That's the cause: survival. In the last 2 weeks I got a small team going and we never get shot at by single players because they're afraid to die. We get attacked by small group of players, and these fights are the most fun I ever had in a video game. If you think the community is collapsing, build your own. Start a thread asking for players to join you, go on the official Teamspeak, you will find teammates.

Sorry if I sounded harsh in my original post, English isn't my first language and I don't always sound how I want to. It was just a sincere question, I'm curious as to what players expected when they started playing and why they were disapointed by the PvP. IMO PvP is a huge part of the survival. Once you find a weapon and you understand how the zombies work, you can easily sneak past them and kill them, they're not really a problem except if you're unlucky and they break your legs. The players on the other hand are smart, they can ambush you in buildings, spot you from the other side of the town and hunt you. That's really exciting and the adrenaline rush when you see or hear another survivor never gets old. The description on the site says it all : "Go Solo, team up with friends or take on the world as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive."... But yeah, it isn't for everyone, that's not cool that you bought the game and you don't like it. Well at least you can play other Arma II mods, like Project Reality :) EDIT : Meh, sorry, my people skills are rusty :/ Well, last night I killed a new player, it was pitch-black and he used his torchlight, I couldn't see if he had a weapon or not. I needed a weapon and tools, so I killed him. He didn't have anything except a toolbox. And well, I needed that toolbox so his death wasn't in vain :) I play with my friends most of the time. A lot of people are looking for teammates on the forum, it's not that hard to find someone you can trust and play with them all the time, the game is more fun with a group of people and it reduces the risk of getting killed.

Protip : activate HDR to see better at night.

And they can't kill you when you're in a vehicle (even a bike).

Options -> increase gamma and luminosity Options -> Turn on HDR With HDR on and increased gamma you can see quite well even during a pitch-black night.

Hi I read somewhere it wasn't allowed to launch a private server to play alone with your own friends/clan. But a friend of mine tells me I'm wrong, because there are ~50 private servs online : http://image.noelsha...rivateservs.png Anyway that's cheating, escaping death by fleeing conflict with other players. So my question is : can we report them somewhere, and what can the game admins do? Remove them from the servers list? Ban their account from DayZ? Also, is it possible that an admin gives himself items and weapons on his server, and then go on a regular server and play with this stuff? Or are some admin tools "locked" somehow?

That's one of the reason DayZ is so great, it's hard and brutal.

It's not hacking, it's a modified server. I saw him pick up an automatic heavy rifle from a supermarket (this weapon isn't even in DayZ). I guess the server is password protected and disconnected from the Hive. EDIT : the vehicule menu is different, and he just said "it isn't DayZ", so it's just a different mod. EDIT 2 : The mod name is the title of the stream -_- Dynamic Zombie Sandbox

Well it's already RP, but what you mean is there should be something to stop people to kill each other. That's cops and a state. IMO it could be possible to create a peaceful society in a full PvP environment if the map was really small, like the size of Chernogorsk. That way there would be few murders because there would be witnesses who would kill the criminal. But that would also be atrociously boring.

Welcome to PvP. There should be something that prevent players to spawn less than 50 meters away from other players though, but it's an alpha, you'll be back if you're not QQing solely because of PvP.

That was bad luck. Just go on a different server. I've played 100 hours and only got sniped once, in an airfield.

Ok, I agree then. But it's a server settings thing, I believe there's no ranking on Expert difficulty servers.

Yes, I know, I disable the Arma 2 beta patch in 6-Launcher, it shouldn't update.

I don't get it, I disabled auto-update in 6-Launcher, and it still updated from 94876 to 95054. Now I have to downgrade it, but if I try to join a server it'll certainly update again.

Just download the 94876 patch online and install it. It's 8mb I think. It worked for me.

No. Why would my character becomes crazy when I myself is having a load of fun? It'd be completely illogical that your character starts having "remorse" and feel emotions that I, as a player, don't feel. There's already a ranking, press i in-game.

Hi I found my first vehicles 2 days ago, and it was a lot of fun. It was a big truck that gave a completely new dimension to the game, it was like a "main base" for our team, I was starting to get bored of walking everywhere and having so few space in my inventory, but it was so fun defending this truck against other players, having to repair the damages... I think it's a good way of implementing base building in the game. A vehicle is just like a big house on wheels, and you have to take care of it all the time by repairing damages, finding fuel... The problem is, I played almost 100 hours and only found 1 car and 1 truck. The truck was incredible luck : it was standing in the middle of the road, with a lot of weapons and gear inside, so maybe the driver crashed :/ And the car had already 2 passengers, and we had to kill them to get it :D So cars are super rare. IMO there should be more of them, because that's simply so much fun... I want to see car jackings and clans fighting each other to grab their vehicles full of stuff! So what's your opinion, and what do you think could be the cons of adding more vehicles spawn points?

Yup. Most people don't understand the game it seems. Killing people is not being an asshole, it's defending yourself against a possible threat AND looting their corpse to get some useful items. If I don't plan to play with you more than 1 day, I'll kill you before you disconnect.
