I usually choose the DMR over the AS50 purely for close encounters. At close-mid range the AS50 just feels really sluggish and severely outmatched by a FN-FAL. The DMR seems to be a good middle ground, and you're not caught with your pants down if someone gets the jump on you. I've killed numerous people that were using assault rifles and I was using the DMR, but I can't remember one time I've taken out someone at close range with the AS50. Night vision is obviously a plus, but getting used to the mildots may be hard for some.

If it's not voltage throttling, it could likely be the drivers...

I have an i5 2500k and a 560ti hawk (don't buy one over a 660ti); it runs pretty well. The game is not optimized well at all, so no matter what you get, it isn't going to be an extremely smooth experience. The biggest issue I have with this game is mouse lag. 2500k is a great CPU; your GPU choice is determined by what you consider a playable experience. I keep most of my settings lower so I can get high framerates in cities and in combat (every advantage helps), but if 30fps is enough you can push up the settings a bit on mid-range GPUs.

This is obviously fiction. If someone made this build honestly, they have more money than brains.

M240 + 2 mags, a map, one food, one drink, one morphine. Unfortunately that was all, but it was the boost I needed to kill someone else at the NWAF and get an AS50 + NVGs.

DMR. Ammo is easy to find and night vision is a plus. No bothering with zeroing, once you get the mildots down it's fast to shoot at a target. It can also be used at close-mid range without much trouble.

That's why you always burst with that rifle if they're in close range. Higher chance of killing them before they can DC. I murdered three people last night on top of a hill near Stary, the fourth disconnected before I could get to him. Don't be afraid to spam it, if anything it will make them hit the deck because they think there's more than just you shooting at them.

I have those exact specs and I run the game maxxed with high visibility without a hitch. EDIT: I don't use postprocessing because I don't like it.

Your avatar sums up how I felt upon reading the OP. I don't have a clue what he's talking about. DayZ works just like every other FPS to me.

When you say "normal" does that mean that the loot inside comes back as well or is it gone?

Don't take the Remington just for the flashlight. How often are you going to use a flashlight? Is it worth being extremely visible to other players?

^I have done that before. I can't say I'm ashamed of it. I don't know why, but putting flares in buildings makes people want to investigate. When I see a flare, I know there's someone there so I avoid it or watch it.

Personally I wouldn't recommend using any of the above except number 4, especially if you're in a populated area/server. All of the other options make you extremely visible to other players. I know from experience... Just turn your gamma and brightness up all the way until you get NVG's. Personally I like gamma+brightness combo better than NVG's in some situations. Good tips on how to use the equipment though.

I ran up on a helicopter crash site yesterday and was trying to pick infected off at a distance, I can confirm that it takes 3-4 shots from a DISTANCE, but up close it's still 1 shot kills.

You can kill people in the WarZ safe zones just as you can in DayZ normal towns.

I usually give people a chance if they look new, and if they don't respond friendly then I kill them. If I find a sniper in the hills, I always shoot him without asking. I know what they're there for. Someone on top of a building? Fair game. For obvious reasons. Heavily geared? Fair game. If you have the gear to defend yourself you better know how to use it.

I thought it was funny as hell. Sure I lost some gametime but I was getting bored anyways. There comes a time when survival becomes too easy so I go looking for trouble.This time the trouble was my carelessness.

I wanted to see it ingame on the DayZ mod. It was a nicer way of saying, "Pics or it didn't happen." People that post these things need to have evidence, otherwise if someone sees it they will think that the game is being hacked more than it really is.
