  1. "File not found" is due to the new forum page. Unfortunately any threads started prior to the update are not viewable by their old links, however they do still exist. I believe they will fix this however.
  2. Ahahah, obviously you haven't played Arma previously :P A lot of my newbie friends didn't know about it until I told them either. But to be honest, the inventory system in this game is kind of odd...
  3. Haha, and your comment about he was looting the ammo box or something, are you trying to say it wasn't his? Because if you look into someone else's spawned ammo box, there is nothing in there unless you put it in there. I know this because I've come across people pulling shit out of there and when I kill them and look in there all I find are beans and whatever other low value loot they dropped in there but nothing else. And you can't blame me for looking in their ammo box, I mean... Come on. Who wouldn't? XD
  4. I think you just majorly contradicted yourself there. "It's an amazing weapon" - lists 5 reasons why it's shit. I think the fact that it's so incredibly weak combined with the fact that it takes for ever to reload ONE bolt AND 1 bolt takes up an entire inv slot outweighs absolutely everything.
  5. Haha, oh well. You've got to give a little to get a little. In this case it was a little scripting. But eh, he got evidence of something much much worse. And these guys will eventually go over the top and try to play god and spawn Apache's and receive a lovely Global Ban in return.
  6. There is. A toolbox. There's a post above yours all about it XD
  7. Yeah but I've probably died a fair bit after that. I get a little frustrated when I loose good shit and run around Cherno blood drunk with the Dinner Bell (Lee-Enfield) But good luck with your loot. You'll need it. The luck and the loot, that is :P
  8. I think it's just because most of the stuff in regular Arma is all US based... But nice RP outlook there, Hawc XD
  9. Never heard of it suddenly disappearing? Maybe it might be wise to send a ticket into the devs or put this somewhere where they can see it?
  10. Haha, yeah there were about 4 of us scattered around Cherno and I dare say one of them was up there with me. I cannot remember. And yeah, the climable tower with the sign up there. There are two other lower tower things that look like 8 cylinders connected to each other on either side. A usual sniping spot for me and many others, just have to watch your back :P And yeah, I saw the body was still there :P I can honestly swear that was me XD So, are you still alive with all that loot? haha :P
  11. he did just say that the image was not taken by him and he doesn't know how. And by the way, I've been playing with a friend and we were talking on skype when he respawned and was randomly put into spectator mode. Might just be a bug of some sort. Plus I care more about scripting ammo boxes than spectating... It's not like you can kill someone in spectate mode.
  12. Well there is an ammo box directly in front of them.. So I can only assume they were scripting. Good work on getting reporting this and getting some proof though. Nice to see some people out there enforcing the legitimisation of the mod! Hats off to you, good sir.
  13. This has been happening quite a lot since release on pretty much all servers. It does not happen to all servers at the same time or anything, I think it just may be a coincidence that this has happened on two consecutive servers. The server just requires a restart. This also happens when loot is still spawning after a fresh restart, however not in your case considering you said it happened while you were walking between towns. Best thing to do is contact an admin. If one isn't on, see if they have TS3, otherwise you'll just have to wait it out or join another server.
  14. The M4A1 CCO SD is in fact there. I believe it's just named the M4A1 Camo SD. Practically the same rifle. Plus I've found it in the Barracks many times as these guys have already said.
  15. I literally think this may have been me... I do remember the moment where I had scored an M107 and a DMR. I was wielding the M107 picking off some unsuspecting survivors below. I was sitting on the front right hand corner of the building. I scored of some sniper on the building next to me, next to the med tents across form the hospital. It was lovely, until I got shot in the back by you, of course -_- Oh, and you disconnected with your loot right after. SERVER HOPPER! Haha, I'm joking :P Enjoy the loot, even though you probably lost it too XD
  16. Something that the bandits out there, and those with a sick, twisted like yourself, Brew, might mind amusing is when you knock a player out, get someone to epi-pen him, then as soon as you do that, get the other person to scroll and click drag. You now have a new pet! Unlimited fun! I have about 30 screenshots of me and 2 other friends with out new pet.
  17. You guys realise that the DMR and M24 use the same rounds, right? And therefore you can use both types of mags for both guns. A DMR mag splits into 5 M24 mags. Just click G and right click the mag and convert it. Also, for the statement about the M24 doing more damage, I believe this is not true? I'm not 100% sure and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the damage in this game depend on the round? And they both use 7.62 x 51? And what does the action have anything to do with? But I completely agree with the zeroing. Zeroing is a must for me. But with this being said I would still prefer a DMR... Unless of course it was the M24 variant which fired a .338 LM. I'd take that any day ;)
  18. In ANZ 2 I believe, I may be mistaken but I know it's an ANZ server, the entirety of Cherno is completely blocked off. Literally everywhere. It is sort of annoying since the only way to get around it is to join another server, enter Cherno and then join back - but that can be quite difficult on a constant 50/50 server. Mashing the enter button for 15 minutes at times. However there is a way in there, however someone might have patched that part up too -_-, just near the apartment buildings for anyone who plays on that server. But anyway, a quick question - Can you use a Toolbox dissemble Tank Traps? Also upon server restarts does the barbed wire disappear? Because that wire around Cherno has been there for about a week now. And I'm assuming it's some sort of hack. There's no way someone has the time and dedication to run barbed wire along the entire perimeter of Cherno.
  19. Sorry guys, got a bit overwhelmed with my post XD But good point Duckman. It's good to see there are actually people out there who know their shit :)
  20. It surprises me at how many people are actually playing as survivors and not bandits! When I first began playing, I tried making friends and playing the good guy. I gave that up. Very quickly. It seemed quite evident that standing still, holding down the Caps lock button and asking if they were friendly almost always ended in death. My death. Me asking them if they were friendly just gave them some time to line up their sites and put a hole in my head and steal my beans. Now, when I see a survivor, unless it's a friend I shoot them as soon as I get the chance. I don't necessarily do it for the fun, however it is quite fun watching them drop, I do it for safety. Now I always hear people go on about how they "don't have a gun, don't kill me you asshole" or whatever, but if I don't kill them then and there, eventually they'll find a weapon and they'll be as much of a threat as I am. But anyway, just my way at looking at things.
  21. Actually, I don't know where you got that idea, mate. I've worked with many guns my entire life, and I have experienced first hand the results of attachments and how they alter the performance of firearms. One of the only silenced pistols in DayZ is the Baretta M9. It's muzzle velocity from memory is roughly 380m/s. As you may or may not know the speed of sound travels at 340m/s. Yes, I understand that the projectile is travelling 40m/s faster than the speed of sound. Now, add a suppressor. You may argue the fact that a suppressor in fact increases muzzle velocity. In some cases, yes. Not in an M9's case. This usually only happens with gas operated rifles such as an AR-15. Using supersonic rounds in a pistol with a suppressor does take away the thump, however still producing a crack - AT DISTANCE. When the bullet leaves the muzzel, it then enters the suppressor. The crack is then absorbed in the suppressor, also slowing the projectile down. Once the projectile exits the suppressor, the the gas also exits the barrel accelerating the bullet - this is due to rapid decompression (similar to that if you punched a hole in the side of a pressurized aircraft). The bullet then exceeds the sound barrier and produces is 2nd and final crack. The only noticeable one. However considering the bullet is now actually accelerating positivity, overcoming the force of air resistance, it takes some distance before the crack is actually produced. Thus the projectile is still silent at close range. This negative acceleration then kicks in following the crack. Don't fuck with a physicist.
  22. I think pistol ammunition, and even MP5 ammunition should be able to be used in the suppressed variant. As some of you mentioned "the gun would not be as suppressed, it will still make a bang" while that is true it is not entirly correct. The bullet reaching supersonic speeds only occurs after a few hundred meters. Since when would you be using a pistol at more that about 50 meters? And considering the inaccuracy of the MP5, we could also assume that you probably wouldn't be using this any further than about 120m at a complete maximum. This being said, if supersonic ammunition could be used in a suppressed weapon it wouldn't be such a bad idea. It could also add a bit more suspense to the game - should I fire and risk getting my position revealed or you I wait until they get a bit closer? I think it's a good idea, being able to run both types of rounds through the chamber.
  23. I have a group running of about 8 or so, including myself. Not big, but we are efficient ;) We mainly revolve around Cherno - have a few snipers who sit around the outskirts (about 600-900m away) who pretty much navigate and take out any easy threats. The others run around causing havoc on the inside - grabbing supplies and what not. Once we get bored we usually set out on the road to find a base camp. From there, after we set up we go out searching mainly for heli crash sites, cars and occasionally new weapons, however we stick to what we already have usually. Not all 8 of us are on at the same time. usually about 4 - 6 will be on. out of the group of us, 4 of us are admins for different servers. We are all Australian with a couple Americans however we base ourselves in Seattle servers usually. Anyway, if your interested just add me on Skype. We don't mind taking a few on board :) Skype: seayouentee TS3: I don't own one, but we do use one - although we mainly talk on Skype.
  24. So as many of you have noticed, a fair few people have the 'Admin Server' title below their name. Most of us have the 'Survivor' title. I recently got a dedicated server and it is being set up as we speak. I'll be running 3 new Seattle servers on there and I am employing another 2 admins to help me out. So my question is, how do these people with the 'Server Admin' titles get it? As I am shorty becoming an admin, it would be nice to behold the title  So if anyone could help me out that'd be great :D Thanks, R
