  1. You need to first of all, run Steam as admin, run Arma 2 at least once, and Arma 2 oa at least once. Then set the launch options for arma 2 oa to -mod=@dayz and put your DayZ files in the arma 2 oa directory. Then you need to download the beta, and once it is installed a 'Launch Arma 2 OA beta patch' shortcut will appear. Go back into your steam and click 'add a game', click non-steam game and navigate to your arma 2 oa folder, selct the 'Launch Arma 2 OA beta patch' shortcut and then add it. Once added, right click and select properties, and for launch options past this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" "-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2;Expansion;ca;@dayz but make sure if you do not have a 64 bit machine, take the (x86) out of the code. Also, include ALL quotations. For the 'Start in' part, put "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\ also with quotations and remember to remove the (x86) if tou are not running a 64 bit machine. Hope this helps you guys out.
  2. Update my versions? Do you mean my Beta patch and my DayZ files? If so, I just go the the link mentioned above by MrPoweredByRedston and download them from there. At the moment I'm sticking with 1.60 until a stable release of 1.61 is out. For the DayZ files, I just download them from the DayZ alpha download page. There's many tutorials on how to do everything online :) And Pheenix, this 95054, you say it's working flawlessly. Are you comparing this to 95954? Just curious to weather or not I should consider updating my server and testing it out. Don't feel like doing another fix if it fails, too time consuming :P
  3. Ok. If you have any problems, PM me. I've dealt with a mass of problems in my time with DayZ. I know my way pretty much around them all :P
  4. And if you need any help on getting started, come join us at US 828, we'll be glad to help you out ;) PM me for Skype/steam details and what not.
  5. If you were asked to choose a character gender again, you either were in a no cd key server, or you joined on your second time round. Play on any of the low ping, very straight forward looking servers. If they are whitelisted servers, I believe they will have the @hive located in the adding section when you select a server.
  6. I would have but I never came across it :P I never found any BE files or folders anywhere. Many other people got through the problem without this step, it may just occur for some users for a particular reason, however I have no idea what. And thanks for contributing, reco. Nice find :)
  7. There's a reason for that too. And a solution. You should be able to find a fair few threads in it if you have a search in the forums. I'd link you to one but I'm on my phone :P
  8. To delete the current BE files, you need to go into the main arma 2 oa foler, go into expansion, battleye and run the .exe. Once this is done, delete any remaining BE folders and then install the beta again and it will install the corresponding BE folders and files. Then you should be able to replace your .dll's.
  9. You need to make sure you run the game as soon as you delete BattlEye. So basically go into your ArmA folders and uninstall BE and delete all remaining folder, then open the game and join a server, quit the game, delete the beta folder, install the beta version you want and reinstall BattlEye with it, then join a NORMAL arma 2 game to get the required BattlEye files (this will happen automatically). Then leave and try joining a DayZ server.
  10. It says it will be reacquired. Which means it has been reacquired. Your problem solved itself :P
  11. So I've been reading through many of these posts, and it's fairly evident that if my steps don't work, it's definitely got them on the roll of fixing their problem, and a string of possible fixes have shown up. So thank you to you people, every extra method helps out the community. Good work guys, I'd give you my beans, but I don't think I have that many ;)
  12. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/32290-arma-2-oa-has-stopped-working-crash-to-desktop-fixed/
  13. If you don't want to roll back, download the new BE client and server dolls from BattlEye's download page.
  14. •Go to your arma 2 oa folder, go to expansion and then BattlEye - run the uninstall .exe •Go into arma 2 folder and do the same. •Navigate to your app data folder, go into arma 2 oa and uninstall and delete the battlEye folder. •Run arma 2 pa and join a game and then once in, leave. •Close the game then diwnload and install beta patch 94700, it will ask you to install BattlEye, do so. •Once installed, open arma 2 oa and join a NORMAL server (not dayz). Once in,save the game and quit. •now download and install beta patch 94876. •once installed, open arma 2 oa and enjoy playing DayZ. PM for help.
  15. This 'correct version' is only correct if using 1.61 i.e. 94945. All the people in this thread who followed the steps are all on 1.60 i.e. 94876. Downloading the BE server and client dll's will cause their game to crash and we'll be back at square one. Bottom line: ONLY USE THE NEW BE DLL'S IF YOU HAVE UPDATED TO 94945.
  16. The last option sounds ideal. But honestly you will be able to get it working, you just need to make sure you're doing everything correctly. Honestly what I'd do, is delete DayZ, delete small folders and files (anything under about 40Mb). This just gives it a bit of a better clean up than a complete uninstall. Once this is done, start Steam as Admin and verify the game cache to download those files you just deleted. Then install a fresh copy of beta 94876 and run the game at least once in normal Arma. Then download DayZ and join a DayZ server. (Make sure you empty recycle bin when you delete the files from arma 2).
  17. This problem I don't believe is caused by DayZ, so I personally wouldn't blame the dev's. I find that the problem seems to occur due to a faulty beta install. When updating from 1.60 to 1.61 (≤ 94700 to ≥ 94945), many people find 1.61 to be faulty, so they revert to 1.60. Doing this update to 1.61 installs a new client and server .dll of BattlEye, when reverting back to 1.60 it screws up the entire system and you have different files from different beta patches all over the joint. Not just in Arma 2 and OA but also in other hiden folders in your user folder. So I believe the CTD is due to a problem with the beta.
  18. If you uninstall, then reinstall BattlEye and then joing a regular sever (not DayZ) your BattlEye files should update. I'll get back to the rest of these problems tomorrow. 5:30 in the morning here :P Good luck, all. Thanks for all the support.
  19. Check your PM's for details. I'll help you out.
  20. I've heard of a similar problem that people have been getting. Send a support ticket in at support.dayzmod.com and also start a thread or look for a thread in the 'Ban Appeals' page.
  21. Follow the steps through again, carefully. If it doesn't work again I'll skype you and we can use teamviewer if you wish.
