For the last few weeks I've been shooting a webcast on Taviana. I've got all the footage I need already, and I've just released Episode 1. There is also a Prologue and a Trailer, which I've linked to at the bottom. Episode 1 - Gearing up for PvP, and some very deadly stairs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNYQOxlRX7g] . You can also check out: - Shows off some of the interesting clips that will be coming out soon. Everything I shoot at in this video dies in the full clip, including the plane :) - Shot on one of my very first spawns on Taviana, showing you where I started when I set out to shoot this thing.Hope you enjoy it, and be sure to check back/subscribe so that you catch the remaining episodes as they come out!

Hearing your mouse click is very distracting. Your quality is very low and so is your FPS at times. I know this isn't an easy fix but it's not fun to watch. No setup/context whatsoever. Very hard for people to get into the video if they don't understand what it's about or why they should watch it. edit: Oh, and retention rates are deceptive, especially with such a small sample size. It could be that people just skip to the end to see what happens. It's not very representative with so few views.

Here is what I mean. I don't mean to put my own work up on a pedestal or anything, (I've got tons to learn, many people are better at webcasts than I) but this demonstrates what I mean by using slow parts of your footage to set up what's coming.

For the last few weeks I've been shooting a webcast on Truegritclan's server. I've got all the footage I need, and I'm starting to produce episodes right now. So far we've got: The teaser The Prologue Hope you enjoy it, and be sure to check back/subscribe so that you catch the full episodes as they come out each week!

You can easily just use slow spots in your footage to accomplish the same effect. And yeah I don't like *way more* than 60% of the content on youtube; most of it is pretty poorly done. (Not saying that's the case here, just that there is way more bad content than good in general)

Why do we have to watch your game load? You lost me right there; as soon as a video starts with a loading screen I'm pretty much done with it.

Looking for some Feedback on Youtube DayZ Series
cakedotavi replied to jon11br's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Here, check this video out. It shows what I mean about cutting tightly and having a "point" to each segment. It's almost as long as yours, but it's really obvious what each segment is about and why the video exists. -
Looking for some Feedback on Youtube DayZ Series

I got about 4 minutes in before I got bored, (sorry, just being honest) but I do have some feedback for you. Your intro is far too long. It takes a full 20 seconds to get to the first bit of DayZ, and 1:45 to get to the first bit of new footage. Your intro should be under 5 seconds, (check out some really popular channels like Totalbiscuit or Levelcap and you'll see how short your intro needs to be) and your "previously on" should be tighter too. I'd also suggest adding an annotation that lets users skips the whole "previously on" section. You have too many intros in various styles. You have your initial intro, the series intro, the previously on intro, and the episode intro. It's way too much, and the styles are not consistent either which feels jarring. Debug menu is distracting. Since you're recording commentary on the fly you have a ton of "uh" and "uhm" in your footage. It sounds clumsy and unprofessional. I'd suggest doing your commentary afterwards to solve this, plus it will let you cut your footage more aggressivly. That leads into my next point: you don't cut your footage tightly enough. You could have started the video at about 3:15 and filled in the blanks with commentary instead of footage of you climbing an empty deer stand. Lastly, I'm going to be blunt; nobody is watching a 17 minute video by a random youtuber about a game that has thousands of videos out already. I bet if you look into your audience retention in analytics you'll see that very few people get to the end of the video. You need to have a clear reason for your video existing, and for people to watch it. That reason should be evident within the first 30-60 seconds of the video to hook people, and you should cut your footage aggressivly enough that you're only dealing with that one little thing. (Which should shorten the length considerably) Don't get discouraged; I'm being super blunt here so that you get some really honest feedback. You have a decent microphone and voice and you seem able to find interesting situations, (at least in the "previously on" section) but your production details need some work in my opinion. (Though take that with a grain of salt; I only started webcasting in December :P) Keep practicing, and good luck! PS: You can learn a ton by watching your competition. Find the really popular videos in the style you want to emulate and think about what they do that you enjoy, and how it differs from what you're doing yourself. Plenty of good ideas to "get inspiration from" (read: steal) out there :) -
A few nights ago I was stalking a bandit around one of the Taviana's larger towns after he rudely tried to murder me, and luckily I was recording the whole thing! Hopefully you enjoy it, and please feel free to leave any suggestions or requests in the comments or here :)

The enfield is an excellent long range rifle and I routinely snipe people with it myself. It only fails at extreme ranges due to not having a scope.

Hi there. I have been banned from this server, (DayZ - US1279 (1.7.2.4/95389) (Regular|3D:ON|CH:ON) dayzmod.com - brotropolis US West) for "Item Spawning." I have absolutely done no such thing, and I'm sure a review of the server logs will verify that. The ban was issued just after I obtained a car and finished my fairly large camp. (I scavenged everything with just me and one other guy, and we did not dupe or spawn a single item of any kind) I suspect that the admin somehow learned of our camp and removed us because of it, but again the camp is legitimate and we did not exploit or cheat at all to get what we had. The logs will verify this, as there was absolutly no wrong-doing on our part what so ever. We spent hours putting the camp together; everything was scavenged or looted legitimately. I'm not sure if the admin simply saw that we had a good amount of supplies and assumed we were duping, or if they maliciously banned me to take over my camp, but either way this is a really unfair ban and I'd like it to be reversed. Is there anything else I can do beyond reporting this here? Thanks for your time all EDIT: I just had a friend check, and our camp has indeed been looted and destroyed. Pretty interesting timing to have the camp raided within, at most, a few hours of me getting banned.

Me and 2 friends are also getting stuck on "waiting for server response" on every server. Yesterday we were all able to connect just fine.

I have ARMA on steam and found a good deal on OA from another vendor. Is it possible to play this mod if I I purchase OA from this secondary source, or do they both need to come from the same place?
