Hi all! Just started playing last night, but eventually I got kicked for some reason. I was just wandering around, got shot the first time by a sniper when I peaked through the woods. Started again, then got kicked awhile later. Oh well, no big deal. Dont know what I did to get kicked. Anyways Can you go back to your body and get your stuff when you respawn? Thanks all

You have to hit the reload button to be able to kill zombies with it, but you only have to do it once, right after you pick it up

How do I play now that i'm fully geared

Get a sniper Rifle, sit on a high hill and just snipe people. Move to a new location, rinse and repeat -
There is a post on this here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1808-guide-installation-guide-steam-retail-mixed-beta-common-errors/page__st__60

Our squad always place at least 2 snipers on a roof before any of us guys start looting in a city and we all have a voice program running. Anyone that approaches our location is taken out, so it is easy to loot. You cannot play this game solo and be successful. Going on two weeks without dieing and the last time I died was from a teamate by accident. Got all my loot back after they rescued me with a helo. Always have a back up plan.

The hackers own the game now.
outfctrl replied to david.mcentee@live.co.uk's topic in New Player Discussion
I got on a server the other day with my squad and we met this hacker by accident that had a thunderdome. He was great. He started making motorcycles, cars, trucks and just about anything you can imagine. We had a blast driving around and goofing off. Tents scattered everywhere with every kind of weapon and gear you can imagine. Sometimes its fun if you get a good hacker. In either case, I don't condone hacking. -
The Scariest Thing in the Game
outfctrl replied to pumpaction's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is this one zombie rabbit that roams the woods at night. You only see it seconds before it kills you. It has these two huge ragged edged teeth and it's eyes glow red and hisses just before it attacks. All you hear is a litle rustle in the bushes. -
As a new player, This mod is so difficult its un-playable.

Actually, my preferred weapon when starting is to find a hatchet. It is quiet and takes down zombies with one hit. They are easy to find. -
Can I have your stuff? Oh, wait, nevermind someone beat me to it. :-) Anyways, this is not a game, it is a simulator. Trust me, I have been frustrated, but When I am killed I learn from the experience and try not to repeat my stupid actions. The longest I have survived was 5 hours. I think that's pretty good. Killed about 6 Zombies and stayed low and out of sight as much as I could. If I had to run across a street, I would lay for around 5 minutes scoping the area first. Thirst isnt a problem. You can always find some Pepsi cans. Food? NP, there are always cans of beans or you will 90% of the time you will find a hatchet, matches and get wood in the forest for a fire to cook. Killl a cow or some animal in the woods. This game takes a shit load of patience. You have none. This simulator isnt for you. Your reward? SURVIVE, that's it.

Who else bought ArmA 2 + OP Arrowhead just for DayZ ?
outfctrl replied to Bitey's topic in New Player Discussion
I dont know where I saw DAYZ, but After I watched a bunch of videos, read the description of the mod, I plopped down the money on steam and bought Combined operations. The problem I ran into was steam messed everything up and I couldn't get Arrowhead working at all. This was a common problem I found from many people who downloaded it from Steam. Found a video on how to fix it and low and behold, three hours later after hopping up and down on one foot while spinning around and whistling Dixie, I got arrowhead working. LOL -
DAYz caught my eye last week, but before I started playing it, well, just a few hours so far, I played ARMA II boot camp for around 3 hours to become familiar with the all the controls. I am still learning the controls, in fact, I am going back to boot camp again to practice some more. I would highly recommend doing that first and become proficient on all your moves. Remember, this game is about survival. That is what intrigued me. Never played a game with perma-death before. Reminds me of the good old Ultima Online days before they care-beared it with Trammel. PK'd and completely looted. Loved it. I was scared all the time.
