Depends if we are talking about voice chat or purely globat text chat. I miss global text chat a lot. It allowed me to be helpful to others and also to feel that I was actually playing with other folks besides gankers and snipers. Voice chat was impossible to ignore, but its easy to ignore text messages. I don't see why folks are so bothered by it. As for immersion, I feel that that is kinda a weak arguement. It's a game and there are already a ton of things that "break" immersion if one starts counting them. Vote yes for global side chat.

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.
Niblik replied to RaxUK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I, for one, am glad to hear about bandit skins being brought back into the game. Hopefully this will bring about the more social atmosphere that I used to experience when I first started playing. I'm tired of everyone shooting everyone else just for the hell of it. -
Servers without friendly fire, aka pvp killing
Niblik replied to a sleeping dog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This ^ I'm all for player freedom but with zero consequences to killing, and no global chat, this is what my gameplay has become: 1. Gather supplies. 2. Shoot everyone because its too risky NOT to. 3. Run north to get away from coast. 4. Kill boar. Eat boar. 5. Gather better equipment. 6. Kill zeds and have a measure of fun with their challenge. 6. Spend all my time avoiding other players as I don't enjoy dying just to give them my loot. 7. Get sniped from 800 yards away without ever seeing my foe or having a chance to fight back. 8. Spawn on coast. 9. Get sniped/assault rifled while weaponless. 10. Gather supplies... 11. Rinse and repeat. I'll note that I only really have fun with step 4 and 6. The rest is generally frustration with peaks during steps 6-9. This mod shouldn't be fun for ONLY bandits. -

Looting barns and cities pointless?

Yeah in YOUR opinion thats the most fun. I choose to play this game as RPG like as possible. I would not go on a killing spree in real life. I've had alot of fun just not pulling the trigger. Let me tell you something. It takes a great amount of SKILL and patience to not pull the trigger and come out alive with out murdering someone. Its alot harder than your bandit playstyle. Apparently letting people live is BS to you' date=' but thats you. It seems I struck a cord with you as you don't seem to believe there is a such thing as "morality" in a videogame. I can tell you that for me, there is and will always be. maybe you should try it instead of spitting out "griefing propaganda" about video game morality [/quote'] Well said, I agree. -
Every time I don't shoot, I regret it.

Let me know what servers you guys are playing on to find so many Helis! :) I haven't seen one in ages and I have spent plenty of time up north... -
Do you kill if someone beg you to spare them?

I agree. There's a little too much anonymity in this mod right now. There should be some kind of consequence for killing another human. -
Any play SWG when it first came out? It originally had a system where you needed other classes in order to heal certain wounds and mental fatigue. I thought it was bullshit at first but grew to love it as it created more interaction between players. The "lol kiddies" found that they couldn't just shoot everyone/be obnoxious because they eventually needed the help of other players. If you were a doctor you could become pretty popular/rich while also being social and meeting lots of other players. I really grew to love the system and then Sony killed it. Personally, I think something like that could really help Dayz become more of an interesting survival mod rather than the "deathmatch only" flavor it has right now.

Haha, I used to play a little Darktide... but mostly did vanilla AC on Harvestgain. Good times. MMORPGs these days are a cakewalk to old Asheron's Call. :)
