What is the point to DayZ, if not to kill players?
Tenderness replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You don't get it either. No one ever said that banditry wasn't supposed to be a part of the game, they are and were also supposed to be a big part of the mod from the start. (Rocket must have wanted it to be, just look at the front page of the website.) Killing other players is a big thing, the problem now is that EVERYTHING is revolving around killing other players, seeing as that is the mentality other games bring upon players, and then they just see this mod as another FPS. I think i get your point OP, but you have to remember that the ones that don't hunt other players usually spends time trying not to get hunted. Besides, you can't just hide in a corner of the map. The best hiding place is actually in the middle. You won't find camps of bandits there atleast. -
Does amount of loot reduce speed?
Tenderness replied to The_Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I believe it should too. There should be a difference between how much the loot would weigh. A can of beans is pretty heavy for the place it takes up. A box of painkillers usually won't be as heavy, considering that it seemingly take up equally the space. I would also bet that a Magazine with .50 bullets is heavy as fuck, even though that they can be packed up pretty efficiently. There should be some kind of weight system, but im not sure if it's possible with the current Arma II engine. -
I Will Gladly Shoot you on Sight and I expect the same from you
Tenderness replied to WisdomSnork's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would just shoot you in the leg. Usually makes you unable to move, so i won't have to spend another bullet. Best part is letting the infected do the last bit of work. -
Why can't we feast of human flesh?
Tenderness replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You sure about that? Inb4 people going crazy about 'The Road'. (Guess it's a bit too late to call inb4 though) -
Are you addicted to Day Z?
Tenderness replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really hope that you downloaded DayZ for free. I know that you aren't comlaining, but people really ought to know the difference between games and mods. On subject, i find myself pretty addicted actually. When im not in-game, im probably reading forums or hanging out with friends/girlfriend. I have even started eating myself, while im just lying on the forrest floor. -
Believe i have found a tin can once. Chances are that when the spawn rate, and chance is low, it will make it hard to find loot when there is only one spawn.

I just got a second chance
Tenderness replied to JesuCalamari's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love the M14 AIM. Im carrying a AK 74 with the chevron right now, while i just hold the m14 in my back, but i might change that later, seeing as the M14 is good for any situation. Favourite weapon by far! As for servers and such, you got lucky this time. Just wait until the hive one day decides to change the one Jerry Can in your inventory to three, deleting everything else in your bag. Then you won't find them so fond of you. -
I'm tired of not finding vehicles
Tenderness replied to davidecibel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was also eager to find a vehicle at first, but when i finally came by a tractor that had everything needed to drive, i did not know where to go with it. It makes too much noise for me to use it safely, i couldn't protect it properly without more people. The whole vehicle thing is not worth anything, unless you actually have a group to travel in it with. If you are not the biggest sea in the ocean, it's dangerous to make the noise of one. -
You're playing too much Dayz if...
Tenderness replied to Vanz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I recently started going through my backpack pretty often when at school, just keeping logistics over what i had in it, and stuff like that. -
Stop trying to make DayZ...
Tenderness replied to Igor (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
One of the major problems i have found with the general mentality of players, is just the same as i experienced when showing DayZ to my friend and his little brother some time ago. I was sitting north of Polana, scouting for whoever was in there(seeing as zombies was walking around in the middle of the town.) The second my the player in the supermarket was in my scope, they simply said "There, shoot him!!" and "Hey, try to shoot that guy." At this point i found out why most people react like they do. They are either just too dumb to understand that this is not just another FPS, and they are generally too used to the point of games being 'Kill everything you see, except the stuff that you can't harm.' This can be related to OPs post in the way that people generally don't understand the whole atmosphere of the game. -
When you see another random player you.....
Tenderness replied to Guerrilla (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
5. Stalk. I would like that in there :) I often tend to stalk from a safe distance, check their movement and that sort. I havn't tried ending up shooting someone yet, seeing as i often just leave them alone. I have found the game to be much of a show, if you just know how to avoid the dangers. -
Are you just going to post this on every single thread like this for the next few days? If you are, you are gonna be busy as **** dude ;D

TIPS for logging in and playing
Tenderness replied to Ironside (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lot of people having this problem, but im afraid that the only thing that can really fix it is serverside updates and such. Just hold on tight, and you will get in eventually. -
Dayz base/camp ideas - question about items
Tenderness replied to j92040's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would normally set up camp far away from where i actually planned to play. Say, i want to go into the Stary area. Then i would set up camp way up Northeast, and just travel there from time to time. Setting up camp in the wild also allows for easy food/water. I would never set up camp in a city, seeing as i don't feel comfortable around players. I like the Zombies however :) They are easy to sneak past and they won't blow your head off before making a noise. (Just sad that they only know screaming and grunting.) -
Lone Wolf. Havn't tried playing with others yet though, seeing as most people just fire a bullet my way or something like that. Don't have any real life friends playing at this point, so it's also pretty hard to team up with them.

Why do regular/recruit servers exist?
Tenderness replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Im not even sure what the exact difference between Veteran and Regular is. If you take away the nametags/CH/3DP/Range from a regular server, do you then have a vet server? I thought that the difference was in how much loot that would spawn, and how often you needed food/water. -
Looking for player Skyler
Tenderness replied to AlkwardzzSeaturtlzz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If i were Skyler i would be like "Dafuq?! do i know you?" -
What has happened to this community?
Tenderness replied to mordrag's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was caught sneaking out of a city earlier. Two players were running towards the city, and when im about 100m to their left (we were probably 50m from town) one of them noticed me crawling through the grass. He took out binocs, and then i knew it was time to run. The other pulled out a .50 and shot once at me. Luckily my evasive maneuvers managed to save me, so i just ran for the woods as fast as possible. That's pretty much how people play the game now. -
I like the PDW and G17. The PDW can be hard to get, but deer stands and so on will give a lot of ammo for it. It can be used as semi-automatic like any other handgun, and i find it best in this state. Full automatic is just too hard to handle with ironsight when target gets like 30-40 meters away. If you are playing on a server with crosshair then it's a beast at fully automatic. The G17 is the on i prefer. It's extremely easy to fire 17 rounds without missing a whole lot of them. The iron sight is also extremely effective at ranges up to 75 meters. From that point on the iron sight does get clumsy, but i wouldn't try to fire it at a target that far away either. I don't like the M9, because it tends to jump a bit up to the right. This is very hard to make up for seeing as it sometimes doesn't move at all, and sometimes goes completely off the target. Same counts for M9SD, but it's also just very hard to keep a lot of ammo for. Any other guns can work just as well as any other when you manage to get headshots all the time. I just found the G17 to be easier to get headshots with. There is ofcourse the question about what the occourance of ammo does for a weapon. I found the G17 to be sorta easy to find ammo for. The makarov, revolver and m1911 are easy to find ammo for, making them good at the start of a players life.

m1911 and revolver nerfed?
Tenderness replied to FlatulentRemedies's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You have a little bar on the top-right of the homepage. You could try typing in 1911+revolver+nerf before you just post about it. Really cleans up the board if people did this. -

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ
Tenderness replied to @Williamcullum1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think you really get what people who feel guilty are talking about. (1) They are not crying or getting depressed because of just taking a life, they feel guilty due to feeling some sort of compassion with the person killed. This compassion lies in their experience of getting gear and knowing how annoying and irritating it can sometimes be to get killed by another person in the game. (2) Most of them never meant to kill the person that they ended up killing. I think it often happens as a reflex or action of panic. This makes them feeling guilty in the way thats stated in (1) It's easy to go on for a while about how it's not a deeply psychological effect that is being triggered in these people, but just guilt because they can see the situation from the victims perspective. -
What is the 3 best loots you got???
Tenderness replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I found a dead player with a coyote backpack once. The backpack had 15 or 16 sodas in it. I was kinda surprised at the time. The best loot experience i have ever had has got to be the biggest residential house in Elektro. I found a gun/map/matches/knife/watch/canteen/food in that single building. After that i ran through the market where i found a backpack+tent. -
The most important resource ever.
Tenderness replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
+1 I carried atleast 3 bandages on me, and then a few in my backpack at all times before the last patch. But there might be something about a higher chance for infected to make you bleed. Im gonna get a zombie to hit me in the face later, lets see what happens xD
