I wonder if it would be difficult to add in a 'friendly' tagging system. You could 'tag' people as friendly, and that would allow them to access your bag without you being restrained. e.g. you have to give permission to have your bag accessed.

So... now what? (The DayZ Paradox)
BelMarduk replied to superfluidity's topic in New Player Discussion
Welcome to the game, and welcome to Elektro (thats the city with 2 fire stations). I do suggest seeing the sights of Chernarus, it is a beautiful map. For now, wander around and meet people. No sense in getting attached to your gear, as its DayZ. There will be alot more content added. Eventually there will be some form of base building. Though to what extent I do not know. The way the servers work is a 'public hive' meaning no matter the server you connect to, you're character, equipment you are carrying, and complete status of your character (health and location) go with you. However, when base building comes along, you're base will be server specific. Same with vehicles, there will be vehicles on every server, but say you park one on a server and logout, that car will not be in that location on another server (though will remain at that spot on the server you parked it on... unless someone finds and steals it). -

On the one hand I am all for this. Anything that gets the 'authenticity' closer to 'realism' I am for. That said, like you said 'years of practice'. Very few people could find that device and have any clue what it is, let alone use it correctly. And. There is no 'wind' per se in SA. as in there is no 'parameter' for wind to match up with the floating leaves and breath you see, so that would need to be coded in, and it would only be for snipers. Without having that device, because wind is not in the SA AND another 'feature' of SA is every toon in SA s the same height. Put all that together, and whatever method you use to adjust your zeroing, it will always come down to "600m distance? tap page up twice..." "650m? Page Up twice and aim just high..." Edit: although, adding wind into the game could ad another huge dynamic to the game. Zeds gain the ability of scent. When the mobs of vicious zombies are added into the game, having to stay down wind of them would ad a new challenge. Then this idea would actually have merit. -
If you have pieces of maps that would go together, like Map of Northern Chanarus and map of Southern Chanarus, they will combine to make one complete map. NE and NW Chanarus will combine to make a Northern map etc...

If you've followed DayZ from the MOD to present, then you must understand the difference between DayZ and EVERY OTHER GAME EVER, both in current functionality and in vision. Every other game (except maybe Minecraft) is as canned as you can get. Every game 'leads' you the player through its maze. DayZ is a true sandbox game. No 'missions', no 'quests'. DayZ REQUIRES you the player to come up with your game. Really, what is the point of any other game out there? to see the next cut scene? to see what happens next? Every other game out there (save Minecraft) is the same game over and over again. Little chance to have a different experience. DayZ blows that concept of game play out of the water... no out of the universe. Not to sound condescending, but try to embrace what I am trying to say. Get out of the usual way you look at a game and understand that YOU make your story, there is no story canned and waiting for you in Chernarus.

Security Vulnerabilities fixed by Patch #2 and Character wipe
BelMarduk replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Exactly, the most accurate description of the average 'citizen' of the world that can 'vote' (not even exclusive to US political parties)... and most forum posters... As implied by your post... everyone else is ignorant, but you Sir are above that ignorance. :D -
you found Samsquanch!

this is a bug. Not the easiest thing to get out of. spam 'vaulting' or 'rolling' next to an outside wall. might (probably will) take some time, but you'll eventually glitch back outside. This has happened to me three times so far (unenterable room in the school twice, and once in a house). The school took like 5 minutes of farting around, the house was like 30.

The struggle between Arcadish and Realism, my opinions!
BelMarduk replied to the_annoying_fin's topic in General Discussion
really already have that.... SA and MOD where MOD is broken down into any and all those categories. (from vanilla to 10000 vehicles, self blood bag, full kit starting gear etc...) -
what kind messages you will leave on NOTES?
BelMarduk replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
I know (currently) its useless, but I still every time I find paper (I always carry a pen as soon as I find one) leave notes such as... Karen, I made it back. I can't find you or Sarah. I found supplies that should keep us for a while. I can't stay here, heading North to see if mother is ok. If you find this note, head to Gram's. I Love you and miss you... I think they will be more interesting if/when they don't disappear on server restart B) Edit: I havent found paper in a couple days, but I have wrote this (or very similar) probably 20 times lol -
We as players are NOT testing as per the definition of alpher testing. Sure from our own point of view, the words "We are testing an alpher game" is entirely accurate. However, we are NOT 'testing' the dev's are. We are simply working the mechanics. Testing guns, damage matrix, food, health etc, for the sake of our own knowledge (even if we share that info here on the forums) IS NOT what is meant by 'alpha testing' in the scope of 'early access testing'. All those parameters (gun food damage etc) are already known, and in and of themselves do not need 'tested' beyond the omnibus data collected by the dev's under THEIR DEFINED CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT! Your want or need for 'personal' tests are completely irrelevant, as they will NOT enhance the game for anyone but you.

OK, how about a more fitting analogy. You buy yourself a bus, to offer rides to the community. You buy your bus with your own hard earned money. The "RULES" of you actually driving your bus in the community state that you can not discriminate anyone that wishes to ride your bus, you can not limit the amount of people riding the bus, and you must keep the same routs/times every day. Yup you own the bus, you bought and paid for it. Right on. Then you decide that you no longer want blacks or women on your bus, and kick any of the off, or not let them board. At that point, you loose the ability to drive your bus in town. You own it, you have every right to kick people off the bus when ever you want. The consequences of that however, you are no longer welcome to drive your bus in town. If you want the to drive the bus through town, you have to agree to the rules. If you don't want to agree to the rules, don't buy the bus. Honestly, how hard is that to understand? I (almost) get your point. Almost, because it makes zero sense (no I really don't, as I can't wrap my head around it, I mean I can wrap my head around you wanting to change the rules after you agree to them, as much as that's just what children and sociopaths do). No matter how you wish to nuance your argument, it comes down to you're wanting to change the rules AFTER you agreed to them. That's what doesn't make sense.

Actually he would more be in line with being democrat... self entitled, myopic vision, condescension et.al... -
I would bet real money I am older than your dad.

As Rocket has said many many times, the zombies are a WIP (Work In Progress). One of these dayz a patch is going to come and BAM! the entire community is going to be qq that the zeds are too hard. Personally, I can not wait for that patch :D

Are people forgetting that once the act of giving mom's credit card number (any intelligent adult reads the terms and conditions of contract before entering into said contract) they are bound by the contract. The contract being those terms and conditions. I do not 'forget' that kid-admins are 'paying' themselves for the 'privilege' of renting a server. Don't confuse you playing an alpha game, and the 'testing' that is being done by the dev's. In the scheme of things, we as players are NOT doing the testing that is alpher testing. We are just facilitating said tests. It used to require a modicum of critical thinking to get past grade 6. I seems that's not the case anymore. My heart bleeds for this and future generations.

[Suggestion] easier way to find some resources
BelMarduk replied to DaFatCookie's topic in General Discussion
First, Welcome to Chernarus. I do hope you have a pleasant stay. There are lots of guides, tips and tricks all through the forums, and elsewhere, The search function is your friend! -
RL survival tip. If you have a can, and no opener. The best thing is a (larger) flat rock, in town? one of those parking curbs, sidewalk, a concrete 'whatever'. Rub the top of can flat on the flat concrete and it will quickly wear down the lip seal of the can.

Like Robins minstrels? Where winter turned into spring, then winter gave summer and autumn a miss and went right back into winter. They had to eat Robin's minstrels... and there was much rejoicing.
-
Base building is said to be down the road, I'd imagine around 'beta' stage... I would be very happy with tents, or some kind of storage (although I would imagine, tents will be wiped more often than player toon data once implemented)... being alpher and all.

[Suggestion] Dead players bodies rising up and attack another players?
BelMarduk replied to ProGamerGov's topic in General Discussion
The 'zombies' in DayZ are not like 'Walking Dead' zombies. They are not 'dead' just infected... Dead is dead. -
Stuck, through building and cannot get out :(
BelMarduk replied to Letholdus92's topic in New Player Discussion
try two things. This has happened to me a number of times. first try going to a corner, and vault through (worked when I got stuck in the first room, glitched through the wall in the office building a.k.a. the school in elecktro) The other two times I got glitched were in houses where I glitched from an upper floor into an un-enterable room below. There going to a window and 'vaulting' towards the outside got me out. It took many tries but eventually glitched me back out. Hope this helps. -
Eating and Drinking is way too frequent
BelMarduk replied to lunatik20's topic in General Discussion
I guess you have trouble using the search feature. There are many a guides out there that cover the hunger/thirst mechanism. Once you get yourself fully fed and watered, maintenance is not very difficult at all. Actually its right about where it should be as its enough to make you keep an eye on it, but not so darn tedious. If you eat the first three to four cans of food you find (more if you open them with the axe :() and 'spam' drinking from a well intil you belly is stuffed, 'maintenance' is eat at least two cans of food (and always spam the wells) every town you pass through. This is all subject to change being alpher and all, but this 'system' works very well. ...but do read up on the hunger/thirst...
