Shiting in the woods, pissing and diarrhoea.
BelMarduk replied to thomas28's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I dont really think little brown logs will be implemented as such. The concept will be (IMHO), as the servers are played, they will generate player heat maps (not to be shown/shared with the public). Those high traffic areas (Cherno, Elektro, the whole coast?) will by nature be 'dirtier' areas. Giving way to higher chances of getting sick etc. I highly doubt that players will be given a button to 'poo' every 8-10 hours (as wonderful a troll button that would be). -
What I took from what Rocket said at Eurogamer, Weapons will be treated as 'objects' in the game. That means they will become customizable (probably not in the first alpha releases of the standalone), they will also act more 'realistically' meaning they can jam, need routine maintenance etc... I am all for complete customization of anything and everything.

Hitting "P" will bring up the players list, also in the map "M", clicking on 'players' will also bring up the list. Also, (to 1 in the list) Turning on the debug monitor will also bring your vision back (caveat is all your 'meters' (hunger, thirst, blood) look 'full' so you have NO idea where they are (e.g. you could be starving to death, or bleeding to death and have no idea). If you you're hurting but need to 'see' you can do this until you get your blood back up.

Shader model 2 is not supported anymore
BelMarduk replied to RedPenguinGaming's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
but to answer your question. I do most of my hardware shopping online at either newegg or tigerdirect. Newegg first place to look. Great prices and outstanding customer service. Tigerdirect has good prices and great service also. Have a problem with something you order and its DoA and you cant get working parts for a month or better, then you realize its not always about saving 5 bucks... -
Shader model 2 is not supported anymore
BelMarduk replied to RedPenguinGaming's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I had that problem before, my .net was corrupted. (yah, go figure) once I got that fixed I was getting direct3d errors, that was not launching the 'beta' arma2ao.exe after the beta install. There is a microsoft program to completely remove .net. Then redownload and reinstall it. hope this helps, let me know. -
US 2828 banned 3 players for hacked items
BelMarduk replied to Waingro (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
First. The scripting is part of ARMA2. Second, the MOD is in alpha (which means that it is all about testing). Third Rocket has pointed out time and time again the need for data acquisition... Add all this up and yes, hacking is a problem now, but everything going on is logged and recorded to be gone over yielding the required info to fix many of the problems in the stand alone. Many of the issues CAN NOT be directly fixed via the mod, some can be fixed server side... There are a few servers that will delete non-game items (like the TWS) from your inventory when it detects them. anyi-hax? or some such. But wholly, look at it from Rockets point of view, and what info he needs for the next phase of DayZ. just my two cents. -
fun? no The punishment is not for having fun, its for being stupid. Fun is being the uber leet haxor (see Im not cuz I cant spell in leet) and not getting caught. Where is the fun in being an idiot? (Im asking you, because you really seem to be one, and a blissful one at that) See all the kid needs to learn (and all he will learn from this) is don't get caught. A punishment more fitting his crime might be a better 'learning tool' but thats a different discussion.
-
The TWS is *always* hacked in, its NOT part of the (official) DayZ arsenal. The l85 does use an IR laser for targeting, though the scope is thermal/night vision (toggle-able)
-
I always shoot on sight someone with a TWS and hide the body with the weapon on it... The ONLY time I will hide a body. Thats a weapon that does not belong in the game. You can not hide from it, it is just as unfair a weapon as a hacker teleporting up on you and shooting you (IMHO).

You know you play to much DayZ when...
BelMarduk replied to jbircher96's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
when driving around looking at the buildings thinking to myself... thats ones a run through building, or that ones a death trap... -
I am the John that you were 'hunting'. As I put on the map in reply to your "I John, I dont know where you are but..." I put a who's hunting me, and finally a 'Ill be at anti sniper hill'... which I was making my way to... the helli was parked just off town, I was no more than 40 meters away (as I heard the convo between killer and G) I also watched G put a whole mag into killers head. killer says 'you're hacking' and G says you're hacking too... it was just about here when you kicked me. You abuse admin powers (when I took the helli you were not on the server, so you has to be abusing your admin powers looking back to see that it was indeed me that took it) Like I said to you in another form of communication. You want to play like that make your server private. If its a public server then play by the public server rules. Oh, and your camp, yes the ADMIN of this servers camp (139:039 apx) has numerous AS50 TWS's! along with other hacked in guns, duping in tents. The brown url had some pretty good fire power in it too. I used the satchel charges in it to blow it and the heli up. Really, again, no rightious indignation wanted or accepted. and you call me a troll. Yes Joker, you know now that I know what I'm talking about even if I cant 'prove' it to the general masses... The masses at least can go look at your tents though. EDIT: I was the first guy you kicked. NOT Gpeck, Looking at that video again, I bet the guy that shot at you was a hacker with player shield on but no god mode, killer was between you and he. Killer was killed by player shield but you weren't? you got the shot on him. Maybe that's why you felt the urge to say that the second attack you don't think was a hacker... covers up your resident hacker (killer101) hacks. Second EDIT: To sum up, you are an abusive admin that indiscriminately kicks players, uses server resets to keep 'your' vehicles safe in your care for your use, and has a resident hacker that because he 'works' for you, you're ok with. I AM NOT DEFENDING Gpeck IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM here. I am calling the server admin out for his high crimes and misdemeanors.
-
looks like both killer101 and Gpek were hacking... both got shot up with clips of ammo and neither one dies. way to go showing your boy hacking joker... Oh wait, you didnt show that part in the video... where are those missing minutes? (please spare me the feigned outrage at this comment, you know as well as I do what I am talking about)
-
Kinda silly here really. You have zero specifics on the relevant issues to your question... yet are asking the question...
-
I would suggest finding a server (or two) that has very few players (low population) to start out on. Get the feel of the game, learn the buildings that you can enter (and find loot in) and which ones you cant. Once you learn your way around then go ahead and try your hand on a more populated server (If PvP is what your after). As stated, there are a lot of CoD kiddies that for some reason think they are rather skilled, and very clever that they can snipe new spawns on the coast.
-
Well, it does seem at least a few people did find that their glitches were fixed. but more so to the point of this being an alpha WE ARE THE TESTERS.... are you herp or derp?
-
How would cost be an issue? If you're running the server on your (or your friends) personal computer e.g. not hosted by a service, then why not just run it as a private hive server and not worry about 'the rules'. If you are wanting it to be on the hive, then yes it eould be against the rules (if not specifically, then implied)
-
Not everyone is like that, but as stated, there are a lot of CoD players. Two things to keep in mind. A this is a mod, is alpha so any way you slice it dont get attached to anything. b, more important, the stand alone is in the works, There will be much more content added to the game much of which should make combating CoD kiddies easier. Where the mod is now, once you get all your good gear, there is not much left to do (for the completely unimaginative). I enjoy the immersion and RP value of the mod. Dont give up all hope on the remaining survivors of the infection. There is still hope! EDIT: But do always demand the person you are helping drop their weapon. ALWAYS be suspicious of anyone whose 'mic is broken, or just quit working' People who wont talk to you, generally are about to kill you.

When you are griefed into the ocean, or out on that island, or anywhere that you can not get back to the map without putting something on your keyboard and leaving for a few hours. Try this, There is a glitch that usually honks people off, its when you're trying to connect and get stuck on the 'loading' screen, you hard shutdown the game because you sit for 30 min and dont connect, then when you finally do connect you're at a random spawn point on the coast. Use that. start up ARMA, go through the motions of connecting to your server, but on "loading" hard shutdown the game (It might help to use a server that has ZERO players on it, one that actually hangs you at the loading screen). Then restart and load normally, you *should* be spawned randomly on the coast. Might take a couple tries but saves both the time you had invested in the char, AND saves the time waiting to die/get back to the map... Hope this helps.

There are a few things that arn't necessarily explained in that given post... I have noticed I can just-about run up on and over a zombie on a recruit server and not agro him. On a regular server you can run away from a zed and dive under a pine tree and it will loose agro on you, try that on a veteran or expert server and you're just a stationary meal for the still agro'd zed. IN other words, agro-ability of zeds changes form server to server. The PV (or the little dots that show entities around you) vary from lvl of server. on recruit you'll see the dots through mountians in front of you while running, where on a expert server, you must stop, zoom your view and scan for a sec to just get a faint dot...
-
This is what the skiddies dont get. They arnt just griefing you, they are steeling your *TIME* weather it be forcing you to do a swim like this, or the hours and hours you had into your char before they script killed you.

Are tents savable now on 2.6???
BelMarduk replied to Bonehead3535's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Tents have always been saveable. ONLY the owner of the tent can save the tent however. If you place a tent with a character, and that character dies, the tent no longer belongs to 'you'. Perma death is perma death and the newly spawned character is NOT the char that first set the tent. Hope this clears things up a bit. The only problem with tents is duping items removed from them on server restart, -
Stop saying "friendly" and immediately trusting me
BelMarduk replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
I seen two DB's on the web cam, and one DB in playing... so I think your premise as quoted is wrong, by the evidence you provide. -
Stop saying "friendly" and immediately trusting me
BelMarduk replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
Yah, cuz in the Z Apocalypse you'll be able to do this... Cheating pieces of crap! Doing things like server hopping to gear up, just to pop back and kill fresh spawns is just shit. You're not tuff, you're not skilled, you're a cheating piece of crap (really any different than a hacker/script kiddie? I dont think so). I will condone tent dupping because there are enough glitches in the game where you loose equipment as much as you gain it from tent duping. But server hopping for better loot is just a pussy way to go. IM(not so)HO. -
New players joining and looking for tips
BelMarduk replied to Pherion's topic in New Player Discussion
There are many youtube videos for new players. Just do a search for 'dayz how to' in youtube. I wouldnt worry too much about the hive questions, although there is a huge list of 'alternate' servers just dont connect to one with 'extra' info next to 'dayz' in the server list and you should always connect to a 'hive' server. The game is persistent on an individual level, meaning anything to have on your person will carry over to any other server you connect to (in the hive) but tents/vehicles are server specific. Prepare to die many many times. The learning curve as to what buildings are enterable, and what loot you can find in those buildings takes time. The first couple weeks I played I think my average life span was less than an hour (maybe 10 min the first day or so). The big thing is learning what your environment looks like (from buildings to players, e'g' what buildings are enterable that a bandit will most likely shoot you on sight, but a hero will most likely help you). Send me a PM and Ill tell you what server I live on and help you learn the environment while watching your back. Our group (we are not a clan) is dedicated to helping new players and hunting bandits [bMG] and [bMGM].
