For those struggling with cyrillic....
zokk replied to Land Squid's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Eh, not the most convenient or intuitive way to learn to read Cyrillic. I mostly just need like a pocket reference to the letters and their English equivalents. This is a good quick reference, for those who recognize the letters on sight, but don't always remember their pronunciation, like me. -
Unable to join any servers for a week now
zokk replied to foiz5000's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I've been having this exact same problem for a week now, too. I emailed the devs about it yesterday, and got a response asking for my player name, my unique player ID, and a copy of my Arma2OA RPT file. I sent those in yesterday, but I haven't gotten a response back yet. I'm hoping someone is looking into it, even if they haven't emailed me back saying that they are. It would be nice to get a status update on my request, though. I have a feeling it has to do with character data linked to your unique player ID being corrupted or something. -
That was actually my very first death. Killed by outhouse door.

I know this has been brought up before, but I'm just going to bring it up again. Arma already gives you the option to select a head model for your character; but what I'd like to see is a way to customize your character's outfit, as well. There are plenty of civilian and military body models to choose from, but they're not being used for anything in multiplayer, which is a shame in a mod like DayZ. I think the game could greatly benefit from a character customization system, so not every player looks like a slightly altered clone of every other one.

Doesn't matter what servers I try, US or EU; they all give me the indefinite "Waiting for server response" message.

Having all the character data stored in a single database accessed by every server and every player connected to a server was certainly not the greatest development choice. Sure, it enables persistence across all servers, but it makes logging on to any server really, really frustrating, slow, and glitchy. Pyramid networking with a single database at the top? It turned buying the game for a mod into an accidental pyramid scheme; at least until they fix it or change the networking model.

Almost brand-new to the Arma scene, but not completely unfamiliar with it. I have a mic, but it's not hands-free, so it's not good for gaming. I'll probably be getting a new headset sometime in the next week or so, though. If anyone wants to team up or something, my contact info is in my signature. I'm on US Pacific Time, if that's a factor.
