Nice to see you guys are getting popular. I got whitelisted here several weeks ago and will try to get my homies to sign up as well. -

Personally I enjoy a more hardcore experience. (Which is why I mainly play on Experimentals when they are up as they tend to be closer to what the devs envision) I was playing on ZAP until it became a hack fest and switched to FOG. The first day we played persistence was still on and it was tough finding loot and food. Our 3 man group met up in Kamyshovo and struggled our way north to Mysta and found a truck that we taxi'd up to Polana where we made a farm and grew some pumpkins (they're OP). It was a very fun survival experience; one that didn't just revolve around finding an AK and hunting players down. Of course this is what I prefer but the majority of the players gravitate towards a more casual run and gun type DayZ style so I understand why there are very few persistent 1pp private hives. I look forward to later in January when persistence is forced on all servers and the new anti-cheat is activated, when that occurs I'll have more options that suit me personally. It's a shame that it's not as active as it used to be but thats to be expected when changing IP's. I probably would have switched server 2 to the server 1 name when you switched over as to not confuse anyone about where its centralized. -

If you're questioning my sanity look at my account creation date, I've been playing since the very earliest days of the original mod and have over 1500 hours logged. I know a hacker when I see one. I killed a Mr. Boots in Vybor and 5 minutes later he shows up speeding in circles around us in the middle of nowhere near Myshkino with only a MP-133 shotgun 9 rounds and the basic freshspawn t-shirt and jeans (which concludes that he did not get the debug Vybor spawn since players that get that location spawn in without the flashlight jeans and tshirt). I hit him with my double barrel shotgun and killed him he then left the server. I mean I don't really care if he gets banned I can always switch servers if I see him on but I figured I'd do a courtesy and let you guys know. -

Heads up I killed a hacker named Mr. Boots twice tonight on your server and then he rage quit. (lols) Looks like he was running the basic speed hack and ESP. So if you see him on your server keep an eye out. -

Server seems pretty dead after moving over to FOG 2. It's a shame. -
This would be cool.

I respectfully addressed your points. It's a shame you couldn't do the same without quoting me and editing it to favor your opinion. I just wanted a friendly discussion. -

It was never mismanaged. Unless you believe Rocket planning to step down when the time is right since the Alpha release equates as mismanagement. -

So you don't think its mismanaged? Great! Neither do I. -

I don't mean to be sounding like I'm being hostile with you, I just want to understand why you think the project was mismanaged up until this point other than a confident charismatic interview with Brian? The basic roadmap created by Rocket is being followed, the same ideas and content are being followed through and he hasn't even stepped down yet. It's just not being fair to the development team to preach that things have been mismanaged when the vision and direction hasn't changed. -

That's fine if you refuse to address me but the things he speaks of "with confidence like a true project lead" Rocket has been saying the exact same thing that Brian said in this video since december of 2012 where I actually had a conversation with Rocket on reddit. (Something that is not easy to do anymore since the dev team takes such massive backlash due to general development cycle ignorance) -

Because he talks about vehicles a lot? Just curious as to what in this video was your great revelation into development that has given you the confidence that you lacked before? -
How sure you weren't sniped while in the big open hangar? It's pretty buggy and hard to hear gunshots at the moment. It's pretty risky to search an airfield and even more so by yourself.

Yup. Best way to ensure character survival is to make sure the server time on the server browser is after the top of the hour. (12:01, 13:01, 14:01) Server restarts reset the time clock to the top of an hour. You can be sure the server is running correctly when a minute has passed on the clock.

LOL I'd love to watch a stream of you play DayZ.

It does affect me when 90% of the DayZ community prefers exploits. It's not easy to find decent low ping 1pp servers that are populated and will be even more difficult to find a good community when private shards are released. Which I believe is the topic of this thread if I'm not mistaken. Which goes back to the original thought that people prefer 3pp because it is basically "Easy Mode".
-
There are many times you can see over walls where the other person cannot or around corners where the other person cannot, it is most definitely not a level playing field and to even consider it as one is disingenuous. I care about the situation because that of all the ways that people can die in DayZ, WHY would you ever want to put yourself in a position where someone can gain an unfair advantage over you is beyond me. With the new inventory in the standalone you have a great way of being able to see your gear on your character, there is even less of a reason to play 3pp now than there was in the mod. Eventually with mods anyone will be able to create the experience they desire but I think the question here is: Does a vanilla DayZ survival experience suffer from the ability to constantly exploit a camera system to gain an unfair advantage?
-
Arma is quite unique in its ability to be modified in whatever way you want. Just because you CAN doesn't make it GOOD. 1PP is a more difficult experience in a firefight or exploring cities and buildings when you don't know whats around the next corner. It's going to be hard to argue that the ability to see over walls and around corners doesn't make it easier to avoid contact.
-
There were "hardcore" (first person only servers) from the earliest days of the mod, it was not an afterthought. 3pp servers are simply more popular because it is easier. People will always gravitate towards things that make it easier, especially in a survival simulator.
-
Things that make me wonder about the whole DayZ deal and idea/direction of the game in general.

Try the experimental patch .50. It is a truly difficult survival experience. One where I have not even met a bandit yet because people are more worried about their next meal than their next kill. -
Temperature effects are broken since hotfix

Wouldn't be so bad if you would go loot a warm jacket. Maybe you're new to the game but the object of the game is to survive. Not only survive against armed players in Berezino but ALSO the ENVIRONMENT!
