Remember to update to the beta (And downgrade when you go back to the older version servers) In steam to upgrade right click on DayZ -> Click Properties -> Click "Betas" tab -> select "experimental" in the dropdown box. It will download a small update and then you will be able to play in the experimental server without much trouble. To downgrade just click opt-out and it will restore your version to the latest public version. Have fun! -

The ammo is more rare than the pistol. It's actually fairly common, same spawn rate as the .45.

It's quite simple they haven't done any client side optimizations yet, only server stuff. Give it time. (btw You're computer doesn't have to do any work when looking up at the sky or down at the ground) Human eye = 60 -
I've still found bunches of them, hopefully they get even more rare when different weapons are added.

Novy Sobor is the bomb, lots of people probably don't like it if only for the fact that they don't know where they are but they're only a stones throw from the NWAF.

The new spawns create a new dynamic for player interactions, you don't start 30ft away from M4 ACOG with 3 coupled magazines. You run into a lot more players who are unarmed or only armed with melee weapons, you don't get blown away and it gives you more of an opportunity for interesting interactions you would have missed in the instant bloodbath AKA Balota. Gearing up from Berezino on your way to Balota creates entirely new situations most people would never experience. It will get even better when they fix sever hopping.

I think this is exactly where most of the whining comes from. People were conditioned from some of the dayz offshoot mods and private hives to think it was going to be the same thing. That there will be "something for everyone" This game is going to be what Rocket envisioned for the mod before private hives started.

Angry Birds and COD is "everyones" game. DayZ is not "everyones" game, if it was then you would be able to choose where to spawn and you would never lose your equipment on death. DayZ is rocket's game, that's what BIS hired him to make. Many people will be angry, but its OK because there are more casual zombie survival experiences for them to fall back on.

This is a perfect example of why I love Rocket and how he develops this game. I remember back in the very early days of DayZ Mod development when everyone spawned with a Makarov pistol everyone complained how difficult the game was. So what did rocket do? He made it MORE difficult taking away weapons from all fresh spawns. People then complained about how difficult the zombies were, then he made them hear you when you run out of line of sight. People then complained how difficult it was finding food and water, what did he do? Got people sick when they got too cold. I have no doubt that as his foundational release becomes more stable he will continue to ramp up the difficulty to survive. More and more people will bitch, and I will smile. I have no problem with DayZ never becoming "mainstream" the reason WHY DayZ is special is because it is NOT "mainstream". Let the noobs kill themselves and rage quit. Adapt or die.

Creating cabinets and refrigerators as "loot containers" while still keeping the random loot spawn locations intact would increase performance yet maintain the randomness in the loot locations.

lmao Yeah right. Developers are already performing these tests on their own private servers. Using "testing" as an excuse to spawn shit for yourselves is fucking hilarious.

You people act like if there were private hives admins wont abuse the servers when it is quite the opposite. My last 5 experiences on private hives all ended with the admins spawning shit for themselves or using their abilities to destroy everyone elses experience and then bragging about it. It doesn't surprise me that admins are doing this because madmins and badmins will always find a way.

I don't mind if they added another 10 firearms, but make all of them rare and more civilian. The entire loot tables need to be reworked, more variety and make it mean more when you find one. (no .50cal or TWS bs) -

It's been one week since Alpha release, the only thing we are really stress testing in regards to the M4 and Mosin are the attachment system. It's a fundamental change from previous engines, once they start balancing the loot THEN you can start balancing and adjusting accuracy/damage of the weapons. It's all about making a stable foundation for the future, that's the #1 priority. They can worry about the ancillary shit after that. -

Exactly. Why buff something that is already the most common weapon in the game? Everyone can find one almost immediately. It doesn't need a buff unless they are willing to adjust the loot tables. Does not need to be done until the loot tables are balanced.
