How about no private servers?
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in General Discussion
It's that "support software" that causes much of the problems. It allows them to in theory do the exact same thing as the hackers, except for the fact that they run the server so they can never be caught or punished. -

How about no private servers?
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in General Discussion
I've been on "one" server where the admins were "fair". Not all are assholes but there is a clear majority that buys admin to have complete control over their personal experience. -
How about no private servers?
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in General Discussion
The majority of the community will always go where it is "easiest". (Example: Everyone plays on daytime servers right now) That means that the majority of the community will populate private hives for the benefits advertised by admins, leaving the public hives empty. Forcing everyone to play under the harsh hand of someone who has enough money to buy admin and decide who plays and who doesn't. -
How about no private servers?
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in General Discussion
In other words "madmining" For Admins absolute power corrupts absolutely. Case in point: every DayZ Private hive I played on consistently. Its all fine and dandy to say "We want to stop the haxxors and combat loggers", it never stops there for admins, they always will use their powers to abuse and destroy the integrity of the game for their own benefit, if not now then later on. It always happens though. -
20 Plus Million Dollars Later...

Most of the team hadn't had a day off for over a month. Working 12+ hour days 7 days a week until Christmas break. I'm pretty fucking sure you didn't have to work those hours. -

Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113953
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Do you even know how long it takes to develop a game on average? Especially a game type on a scale that NO OTHER GAME HAS EVER DONE. Everything being attempted is completely new. They worked their asses off to get a very limited build of the alpha stable enough for people like you to enjoy before Christmas, then the team took a 2 week break over the holidays so that they can start the new year fresh. The only developer that didn't take a vacation just pushed out 2 patches BY HIMSELF. You just make yourself sound ignorant. -
Going on soon to test, when I was on last night it was running smooth as butter. Should be good to fill it up though. I was still getting the occasional "weather sync" hitching problem, along with the free look "snap to focus" problem.

Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113953
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
What they promised in December 2012 was something completely different than what the standalone is now. What you're playing now you can't even see the work they did over the last year, it's all under the hood and it'll payoff big in the long run. It was worth it to wait another year than push out a quick cash-in based on the mod with all the same scripting BS. He did it right and by spring this game will be running smooth as butter, and by the end of the year will have shit loads of content. If you're unhappy with the current pace of development then maybe you should take a break and play another game for a couple months and come back. -

dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Considering its only been in development for 1 year, a 3 year development cycle sounds about right for a finished project. Consider yourself lucky that they let people into the Alpha at this early of stage. -
The solution to constant hunger/thirst (And a bonus story)
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
This. The "hunger" and "thirst" indicators in your inventory screen are akin to a warning light on your car warning you that you are low on gas. When the "low gas" light stops lighting up it doesn't mean that your gas tank is full. Same goes for the SA hunger and thirst system. Eat until it says "my stomach is full" Drink until it says "my stomach is full" Then don't worry about eating or drinking for an hour or so. -
Final stand against a hacker in the church....
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to asundertitan's topic in Gallery
I was there in the city a couple buildings down and remember talking to you guys in direct chat when I was dead. I feel you brother. :( -
It's an idea but right now they need to focus on increasing numbers while keeping the server stable. Once they get it stable and implement the new improved multi-core server architecture then they might have the ability to do this without much strain on the server.

having more than one character. thoughts?
dromagewok@hotmail.com replied to chewythefirst's topic in General Discussion
Remember to update to the beta (And downgrade when you go back to the older version servers) In steam to upgrade right click on DayZ -> Click Properties -> Click "Betas" tab -> select "experimental" in the dropdown box. It will download a small update and then you will be able to play in the experimental server without much trouble. To downgrade just click opt-out and it will restore your version to the latest public version. Have fun! -

Join the DE Experimental servers, they're on a separate hive and act as a second character. -
Hacker just Teleported me to middle of water.

There is nothing "global chat" could do to help you. Admins don't have those abilities. (thank god) -

Hicks is the only guy at work until monday. You expect one man to fix everything in the game in 2 weeks during christmas holiday? These guys worked their asses off to get us the game by the end of the year, be patient FFS. -
I think I'll take a break and wait for anti-hacks to be implemented...

Thank you for being constructive rather than QQ'ing like the OP. -
The ammo is more rare than the pistol. It's actually fairly common, same spawn rate as the .45.
