  2. Seems as though the Experimental servers aren't on a separate hive anymore? I only see 2 online as well.
  3. Search DE and turn your ping filter to 0. DE Experimental/Testing 0-1 , 0-2 , 0-3, 0-4, 0-5
  4. a GOOD private hive is the best way to play, but they tend to be few and far between. If yours is going to try to stay true to the way DayZ was meant to be then I'd gladly try it out.
  5. If you had read my earlier posts I made it quite clear that I have played on private hives with "fair" admins. I never said my opinion mattered more than anyone else. I completely understand why people would want to be an admin so that they can micromanage their experience. I have no problem with you wanting that or sharing your opinion. I'm just trying to help you understand the point of view from people who don't have the disposable income to waste on servers to become admins. I am not defending ghosting or combat logging which WILL be fixed and SHOULD be fixed. Maybe since you run all of your own servers you've never had to endure one where the person who owns the server fucks with your experience and bans if you if kill them. Many people here have experienced that though and don't want it.
  6. It's funny how you act like the only solution to server hopping is private hive madmin glory holes. There are already solutions ready to go but not implemented yet due to server load. Just because you have money to buy whatever server equipment you want it doesn't mean that you should be able to have the power to destroy other players experience.
  7. On a public hive if you encounter a bad server you can always take your character elsewhere. On a Private server if you gear up and encounter a badmin you have to start over. My point is that allowing the 1337haxxorprivatehivedonatorweapons1000000000vehicle servers will kill the public hive. It's easy to say "QQ just go play on the public hive" but if the community abandons the public hive in favor of the "1337haxxorprivatehivedonatorweapons1000000000vehicle servers" then the public hives will die and you will be forced to play on a badmin server.

  9. It's that "support software" that causes much of the problems. It allows them to in theory do the exact same thing as the hackers, except for the fact that they run the server so they can never be caught or punished.

  11. I've been on "one" server where the admins were "fair". Not all are assholes but there is a clear majority that buys admin to have complete control over their personal experience.
  12. The majority of the community will always go where it is "easiest". (Example: Everyone plays on daytime servers right now) That means that the majority of the community will populate private hives for the benefits advertised by admins, leaving the public hives empty. Forcing everyone to play under the harsh hand of someone who has enough money to buy admin and decide who plays and who doesn't.
  13. In other words "madmining" For Admins absolute power corrupts absolutely. Case in point: every DayZ Private hive I played on consistently. Its all fine and dandy to say "We want to stop the haxxors and combat loggers", it never stops there for admins, they always will use their powers to abuse and destroy the integrity of the game for their own benefit, if not now then later on. It always happens though.
  14. Most of the team hadn't had a day off for over a month. Working 12+ hour days 7 days a week until Christmas break. I'm pretty fucking sure you didn't have to work those hours.
  15. There is a patch "PENDING" there hasn't been a patch for 4 days.
  16. Do you even know how long it takes to develop a game on average? Especially a game type on a scale that NO OTHER GAME HAS EVER DONE. Everything being attempted is completely new. They worked their asses off to get a very limited build of the alpha stable enough for people like you to enjoy before Christmas, then the team took a 2 week break over the holidays so that they can start the new year fresh. The only developer that didn't take a vacation just pushed out 2 patches BY HIMSELF. You just make yourself sound ignorant.
  17. Going on soon to test, when I was on last night it was running smooth as butter. Should be good to fill it up though. I was still getting the occasional "weather sync" hitching problem, along with the free look "snap to focus" problem.
  18. What they promised in December 2012 was something completely different than what the standalone is now. What you're playing now you can't even see the work they did over the last year, it's all under the hood and it'll payoff big in the long run. It was worth it to wait another year than push out a quick cash-in based on the mod with all the same scripting BS. He did it right and by spring this game will be running smooth as butter, and by the end of the year will have shit loads of content. If you're unhappy with the current pace of development then maybe you should take a break and play another game for a couple months and come back.
  19. Considering its only been in development for 1 year, a 3 year development cycle sounds about right for a finished project. Consider yourself lucky that they let people into the Alpha at this early of stage.
  20. This. The "hunger" and "thirst" indicators in your inventory screen are akin to a warning light on your car warning you that you are low on gas. When the "low gas" light stops lighting up it doesn't mean that your gas tank is full. Same goes for the SA hunger and thirst system. Eat until it says "my stomach is full" Drink until it says "my stomach is full" Then don't worry about eating or drinking for an hour or so.

  22. It's an idea but right now they need to focus on increasing numbers while keeping the server stable. Once they get it stable and implement the new improved multi-core server architecture then they might have the ability to do this without much strain on the server.
