It because this site likes to mess links up for whatever reason. -
what exactly is end game in dayz?
skyter replied to Justin619's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Killing everyone in sight is not an end game. Open ended survival means open ended survival not, "oh geez, I have nice things now... TIME TO MURDER PEOPLE!" In other words to people with that mentality: -
Help me understand the butthurt over PK'ing, Bandits, PvP, killers, etc.
skyter replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
look you answered your own question. It's a problem because there is no uneasy tension anymore where you think "maybe this guy is friendly" It's gone. Curiosity was replaced with a shoot on site order because there is no sense of weight to killing another player, only fearing for the gear you're carrying. -
Nice edited post. Go kill yourself now; considering you broke your own rule.

A serious question for the PvP-phobes
skyter replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You obviously didn't read the thread. And you are provoking a response by citing my thread. People start murdering out of boredom with no draw back simply because they can with nary a downside. I'm not some scrub fresh off the beach but people treat this game like the only goal is to kill people. It's counterproductive to everyone, because you get to a point where there is no player interaction beyond 3rd party voice apps or being shot on sight if you're not talking to people over a third party app. It was a persistent zombie survival horror game with a place for banditry when banditry caused a skin morph. But now it's gaming without any sense of realism or honor despite people claiming indiscriminate killings are realistic. What fucking planet do you live on, because if that was the case the human race would have become extinct long ago. "oh look, another person!" *kills* = the entirety of dayz in a nutshell right now unless you're part of a group then it becomes: "oh look, another person who isn't in our group!" *kills* It's a death match mod with zombies as an after thought at this point. A mugging simulator. A paradise for trolls and griefers that gets worse and worse with increasing player numbers. Bandits have the right to exist, but when every single person is a bandit because they have to be, or they get shot; it's not being a bandit anymore, it's simply playing the game while forcing people down a character path they didn't want to play. Where is the freedom or sandbox in that? If you want another shooter with zombies, go play another shooter with zombies. This was supposed to be deeper.- 167 replies

The difference being my post was a response I put .5 seconds into typing. It wasn't a thread I created to bitch about bitching. All people can do is follow circular logic on this forum.
-
What do you expect in a forum for an alpha test of a game. If there was no bitching ever, things would never get fixed. People's logic fucking amazes me. "if you want to complain, don't play HERP DERP DERRR" GTFO! just because you like things the way they are doesn't mean the majority does. If that was the case I wouldn't have over 90 beans right now.
-
you bitch about bitching via a bitchy thread with poor grammar... you were obviously dropped on your head as a child... In addition to being a bandit most likely

Will this run DayZ on low settings?
skyter replied to TheDude8D's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you're not running at full viability you're missing out. -
my guess if they changed the formula for figuring it out, or people got sick of playing leaving more veterans.

If you didn't read because it was too long, you have no place in criticizing grammar. Which I might add, is leaps and bounds over 99% of the posts made on this forum. Way to attempt to troll. The current shoot to kill on site mentality isn't a bug. It's a result of boredom, assholes, and a lack of risk/reward. Killing players is all reward, no risk at this point. You play with this mentality most assuredly. I just want a feasible option that doesn't REQUIRE you to. I want to see a product people want to buy and support, not because there's hype and buzz around it for a couple months like now, but because it's actually good and sustainable. All idiots can do is come in here and say "oh well if it's the apocalypse everybody WOULD kill each other" In all the horrible events in human history, the fact we're still alive provides evidence to the contrary of his mentality. -
What is the cruelest death you've had at the hand of another player?
skyter posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Mine would have to when I was in Berezino at the medical tents, and a guy with an axe spawned behind me. He did the friendly dance with my m1911 pointed at his head... I backed out of the tents slowly, shot the zombies in his way, and was picking up a an m9 SD, after having left the AKM for him, when he double taps me with .45 revolver through the tent I was now in. Walked over closer to the window in the tent and double tapped me again. I had his life completely in my hands 20 seconds before. One shot and his life would have been over and mine saved. :( The price of morality. :beans: - 1 reply

As a developer you have to strike a balance between 'realism' and fun, or you don't have product people are willing to pay for. So far the only people who find Dayz fun are the new players until they get sick of getting dropped and people with clans, which, let's face it are all really bandits on some level. The problem is we as a culture need to be spoon fed rewards at fairly short intervals to feel satisfied with something. That's where banditry comes in. It's the mindset of "why would I spend hours looting when I can let someone do it for me, sit here and camp, and get all that shit with one bullet?" These are the people who then claim the game is too easy, ironically. honestly maybe they should just have 2 different type of servers - One with friendly fire and one without out. bandits are happy, people who join bandit servers know what they're getting into, it would reduce the number of new player kills and give those that want a more cooperative experience a chance to do so. It would allow easier trading within the game between parties without worrying about getting shot in the back as soon as the trade is done. On servers with friendly fire off, the loot spawns would be cut way down to ensure people didn't just server hop to loot points and hoard. Win/Win with neither vision of players compromised. but there will be people on here that would frown at the suggestion. -
Help me understand the butthurt over PK'ing, Bandits, PvP, killers, etc.
skyter replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
that's up to the game to change it, not fill that void completely with mindless PvP and camping. It's like playing skyrim, beating the whole thing and then murdering entire towns because "you're bored and there's nothing left to do, so why not?" except in this case the villagers are infuriated players who you just instilled the shoot on site mind set in. Or worse, were just turned off the game for ever. -
you would think, but no. Just makes you a bigger target for player killers. Two shots from a variety of guns in 5 seconds, you're both dead.

no. there are campers everywhere. it isn't a matter of fucking up, but of other people purposely being asshole. IE I got shot in my camp today 4 times with a sniper, unarmed, putting meat away. Asshole loots my camp, which is fine, then goes a step further and puts map markers all over my camp reading "clan supplies here" "weapon cache" "supplies" it's fucking infuriating. -
Killed by a bandit outside of Berezino

If rocket makes this standalone
skyter replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
and what you don't get is that the release is literally at least a year away at best. If Dayz is coming arma 3, and arma 3 doesn't come out until 2013, do the math. No you didn't waste your money. Simple math and common sense plus that thing called the 'Search...' bar -

Posts like this confirm your lack of intelligence and even more so than me; originality. I created a discussion on the essence of player interaction in the game as it stands now - which is 99% of the time: See guy, shoot guy. Your comment made no contribution to this discussion what so ever. Part of the allure of the game for me was the uneasy tension surrounding player interactions in game. But now it's no mystery as to the intentions of other players in my eyes. You can't sneak around zombies and avoid snipers at loot points at the same time. One or the other makes you a huge target. So far the only solution the nay sayer's have come up with is A: stop playing (retarded) B: Shoot on site (circular logic - eye for an eye) Those that have been here since the beginning have this almost elitist snobby hipster vibe about their posts in relation to any criticism's levied against the game as it stands. they are incapable of forming any other response than an elongated "you mad bro" "you must be bad" "qq more" or the best yet "stop trying to pussyfy the game" -

skyter replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This fucking shit. Give me a break. Everyone is bandit in the game now because it doesn't give you a choice. Shoot first or die later. It's pathetic. And all the bandits bitch and moan about people bringing it up so now everyone is afraid of the elitist pricks and trolls of the forum to even speak up. Killing people shouldn't not have a consequence, as letting them live at this point assures they're going to shoot in the back. It's just a 225 km*2 deathmatch with shoddy AI that doesn't even pose a threat in this build. Ridiculous. Every decent loot point in camped. Everyone shoots on site. Bandits gain a HUGE advantage through anonymity. But no one wants to talk about the elephant in the room. The clan guys just want to keep their advantage. -
