Still can't get past the loading screen, blegh. Will go back to Minecraft for a bit, where patching and updates usually aren't quite as explosive xD

I can't seem to download the beta patch, is it normal for it be messed up? Doing it from here: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Chrome gets ready for the download but nothing happens...any other mirrors out there?

It'd be a nice addition, especially considered the state of the servers right now. And it would give folks a nice way to avoid PvP if they so chose, though other players are a pretty big part of the experience imo.

Argh, just downloaded Arma last night and was looking forward to the mod today. Oh well ;(

Yeah, it sucks the fun out. I mean I understand that it's part of the experience, dealing with hostile players, but it's more fun to fight them to survive than it is for "lulz", I think. To each his own, I guess.

Thanks for the tips :) I'm hoping I can get my laptop with integrated graphics to scrape by at 20-30 fps. Do you have any other recommended settings, like maybe target parameters for the executable?

To be fair, you're kinda SOL if you have a long-range encounter and are equipped only with a shotty.

Playing on a laptop with somewhat similar specs,I will say that you should be prepared to turn down many settings and to perform a number of optimizations. However, I have to managed to get my average offline fps in the demo to 20-30, which I'd call acceptable. Bought CO off Steam and am hoping for the best! The core game seems interesting and apparently has tons of mods, so even if I/you hate DayZ, it shouldn't be a waste of money.

99% positive these "ghosters", as I think they're called, will be addressed in the future. At the minimum, have harsher penalties for those who d/c during combat.

What the fuck am I reading? This is a free modification to a videogame. Most games don't even let you choose a gender. I'm assuming you're trolling, op, but if you aren't, this isn't the smartest place to bring the LGBT fight, eh? I'm all for equal rights and such, but this is just stupid.

I haven't even played the mod yet so I could be dead wrong :P but I think that either bandages or cooked meat will stop you from bleeding out.

Felicitations, internet dwellers! My name is Zexis and I am not sure whether or not I should purchase Arma II:CO / download DayZ. I have read reviews of this alpha mod and they have been surprisingly positive. I am downloading the demo of the core game as I type to see if my laptop can handle the game in the first place. But I have some questions I'd like answered. First, in the mod's current state, are there any issues I should be aware of? How is the current update sitting with players? Second, are there any significant differences between the Steam and non-Steam versions? Lastly, would you say that the mod is worth ~30 USD? And if for whatever reason I end up hating the mod, do any of you play vanilla Arma II and would you recommend it for its price? Thank you and good luck! I'm just a newbie contemplating whether I should back to Minecraft after Skyrim or try out something altogether different like ARMA.

Biggest concern right now is performance, ugh. Just downloaded the demo and had to turn ALL video settings to lowest possible to achieve a semi-steady 30 fps. Granted I hadn't tried any optimization yet apart from those settings, but is there any hope? i5 2410M CPU @ 2.3GHz (Quad-core) 4GB RAM Intel HD 3000 graphics (laptop, not meant for heavy gaming, I know I know)

To answer your first question: because I want to see if I should play the game and am passing time while the demo downloads. Am I lonely? I don't see how that's relevant, but the answer is no. Eh. I've seen forums more proliferated with trolls, so I'm used to it :p Just don't waste your time with juvenile posts like these, please...it earns you no friends.
