Low FPS making this mod un-playable.

i feel you, there are a lot of issues with performance, just look how inefficient the load screens are and that about sums it up, there are a variety of different tweaks you can do to increase performance, i have a similar laptop and am able to get 25-40 usually and about 40 or so indoors, there are a couple of threads that talk about tweaking your performance, just search for them -edit I've got an core i7, nvidia gt540m 2gigs of video, and 6 gigs of ram -

ghillie and camo suits affect zombies

harder to see you in grass, but in a city with concrete around you, you should stick out and be seen very easily -
I used a bizon for a while, extremely useful against zombies, just aim the for head and its one shot kill and if you need to shoot alot it doesnt matter because they can't hear it. on the other hand if you run into a player you better have that thing on full auto. just make sure to reload before one of your magazines runs out, because the game auto replenishes half empty magazines the next time you log in.

ran a long way to electro to meat up with some people in one of the firestations, first i was up in the tower and then i feel through the wall and landed on the roof going unconscious and breaking my leg. luckily i had a friend up there and i got epied and auto injected. everything is great and back to normal, less then a minute later i get shot in the head, good shot whoever that was, then again i was being way to careless

they don't have to be zombies, why can't they just be a pack of hungry dogs of wolfs that attack humans

suggestion for upping zombie struggles and lowering kill on sightness
rockwood replied to Ribano's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
may increase killing on sight if you desperately need ammo -
maybe eating food causes you to slowly regenerate blood instead of the kill a cow and eat the whole thing in one sitting and be perfectly healed. you eat a cooked meat and it rejuvenates a 1000 over like an hour of play or something. so you get more blood in the long run, but it's not an instant fix, and you have to wait for the hour to go up, before eating something else has an effect

Finding Nemo - Looking for someone?
rockwood replied to jordnz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
looking for someone named "buddy," he shot one of my friends, who ended up living, and then disconnected when i returned fire -
maybe he didn't actually kill you. He said something about the server restarting or crashing or something and how the next time he logged in he went to debug forest. That's still pretty funny though

had a friend log in behind someone, the guy had some sort of rifle out. my friend opened up this guys pack and low and behold there is a dmr in it, he takes it out and then the guy turns around and then my friend shoots him with it. true story

Want a tent, have a M4A1 CCO SD [Trade]
rockwood replied to mythTECH (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A. it is probably a trap, and B. that is a terrible trade. Just hit up a supermarket our two and you will probably find a tent -
had a friend log in right behind someone with his back to him. my friend goes up behind him and opens up his back pack and pulls a dmr out, the dude turns around and my friend shoots him with his own gun. like a minute later the server restarted and the next time he logged in he spawned in debug forest, karma is a bitch...

Not for when you are playing the running simulator, but once the zed pathing is worked out it might be a good idea for the survivor to be able to run faster at first and then eventually slow down until the zombies are on top of you. this would be different then the cross country run/job, which wouldn't be effected by stamina. this is the more dead spring top speed thing that people can't keep up forever. Also the idea of weight may be a good one too. Carrying a rifle, one in your coyote patrol pack, a pistol, and a bunch of other inventory, then you should have a high weight and therefore not be able to run as fast or as long as someone with nothing on them. also people with heavier weight shouldn't be able to sneak around as easily with all that heavy stuff bouncing around.

I've noticed that some players run faster then others, but im not sure why, maybe the ping, maybe it has something to do with hydration, but i still think that this would be a good way to make it slightly harder to get away from zombies

20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
rockwood replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
no- to heartbeat yes- to different character models -
I think rocket's solution to this whole protecting the stuff you looted is going to be the ability to build underground. build an underground garage, with some sort of steel door or something that is hard to get though. auto turrets is definitively not what this game needs. maybe one of the ways to break into bunkers like this is to tunnel in? im not sure if my suggjestion is the answer but i don't think we should jump right into auto turrets. lets see how the underground building mechanics work out in the future. Once you put something in the game it will be very hard to remove(auto turrets)

I think the title about explains it. You should't be able to walk up to an animal and shoot it. You would think that all but a few livestock would have been eaten by infecting leaving only a few that roam the country side. I think deer should be implemented into the game, which are alerted to a players presence easier them zombies, and that cows and sheep should be harder to find

Consequences of player killing - a new direction!
rockwood replied to heretic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the voice and hallucinations, but maybe they could be implemented when a player is low on blood/water/food, maybe that can of food you see on the other side of the room is really just an empty ten can once you get close... -
I recently disconnected while sneaking around a town. I know it was a bad idea, but I had something to do and I didn't leave myself enough time to play dayz. So there were zombies around me and whatever, but I had not been seen. If i go back into the same server will the zombies still be around me or will they re spawn back at their spawn point. What happens with other servers?

At rezzed rocket was talking about making underground instances. This got me to thinking. What if after you got your character you could enter a sort of death match of team death match instance in one of the towns or cities in chernarus. last man standing wins sort of thing. you could go in by yourself or clan vs clan sort of thing. so it would be like a normal deathmatch game with zombies thrown in the mix. it wouldn't have any repercussions to your character outside of the instance. you could loot the supermarkets and hospitals or whatever in the instance. there could be options where you start off with nothing or start out with everything your character has outside of the instance, there would be multiple options, or even some sort of horde mode with your friend and your friends characters. I know it's not the point of dayz and i do like the dayz that we currently have now, i just think it would give players more options, which is what this game is about. the game modes would have no effect on the persistent world of chenarus itself, but i also acknowledge that it could potentially change the way people would play the game. i would be interested to see what other people think, i expect to get many polarized opinions

im not talking about an olympic shooter's .22, im talking about a crappy bolt action one that holds 5 rounds that you get when your 8 -
if this game was truly about survival everyone would get a cheap rifle with ammo, a canteen, hunting knife, hatched, and matches and then go be a hermit it in the world. I understand that this game is about survival, but once you got a couple of tents and everything you need, it would be nice to see how your and your teams survival skills are compared to others
