Whats wrong with this world, seriously

Uno, the game used to be just like you imagined. In the early days when people didn't really know about this there were whole bands of survivors who teamed up and people actually did help each other. What I say now will be steeped in resentment for the new clique of players, but since it got loads of publicity the game has become the roaming ground for 9 year old CoD players for whom this isn't a zombie survival game. It's a PvP game with zombies. Now before anyone flies off the handle, I'm not saying that PvP shouldn't be in the game. It should, and I'd complain a lot more if it wasn't. But there needs to be some way to stop said 9 year olds from killing everyone without making everyone resort to a shoot anything that moves attitude.

How can I get my graphics better?

Run the benchmarks to find your average FPS and then go from there. Each time the benchmark finishes it'll tell you your average FPS. Then go and change some settings are run it again and not the new FPS and so on until you get a decent frame rate and decent graphics :)

How can I get my graphics better?

I have no idea if that rig is better than mine :D I'm just a professional moron :PI'd say grab a notebook, and yank your view distance up to about 5000 meters (aprox.). Then change all your graphics to max (very high for most, 8x for antialiasing) and set your 3D resolution to 100%. Then run both the benchmarks and note the average fps. Then go from there, and tweak the settings until you find something that looks good and gives you decent frames. I'd say aim for about 40 frames and record at 20, this was you'll be recording at less that your target and you'll be able to ensure that you get your target frames whenever you play.

How can I get my graphics better?

I've found that setting the view distance a little lower and then tweaking the other graphics settings higher helps. I'll link my YouTube channel and my Imgur galleries below so you can see how my settings are and I'll list my system specs for you too. And remember, there are always the benchmark scenarios that you can use to find your average frame rate. There are 3, one is medium action, one is very intense action and one is general. NOTE: You'll only have 2 benchmarks if you're playing ArmA II WITHOUT Operation Arrowhead. www.youtube.com/user/Bashkire http://bashkire.imgur.com Specs (I'm no technical wazard, so I'm remembering things I was told about my PC and looking at the system screen and essentially copying and pasting): GPU: NVidia 9800GTX+ Overclocked CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz 3.00 GHz (I believe I have 2 of them) RAM: 2 GB (although I think I have 4 GB) And I can't find any more info... sorry! :D EDIT: I also use Game Booster (a program that you can download online, I think it's still free) and FRAPS which is set to reccord at 20 fps. Also, the videos on my channel are done with 50+ people online, so that will give you an idea of the stress. Really, ArmA II is very good at both being bad for your graphics and also being forgiving.

[Dayz] Priority System!! [Dayz] Zombie Aggro System

Can I just point out one thing and then I'm out of here: You keep saying "in real life this, that and the other." This is ArmA II, a soldier simulator. It's not a video game (well, that point is debatable) and is supposed to MIMIC real life, but not BE real life. Also, you're talking about realism in a zombie apocalypse. I mean, I'll admit to my guilty pleasure of loving zombie fiction in books and some films and even games/sims/mods this this, but come on! Zombie apocalypse's just ain't real!

    DayZ Radio Show (TWITCH.TV)

Well if you're going to be streaming audio then I wouldn't mind helping out if you wanted. British (not sure where in the wide ol' world you are) so times would need to be agreed but I'd be interested in helping out every now and then.

    Controls?

I can explain it with two words: Boot Camp. Now you're wondering why those words are important. That's the name of the tutorial in the single player menu.

DayZ 'Z turkey shoot' in ARMA II Mission Editor

While they didn't attack me, I was able to get them to be "hostile" towards me by grouping them with an OPFOR unit that had a spawn chance of 0%.

    Modified Paintball Gun

In the event that this dos get brought in, you don't need a degrade system to show the canister depleating. Just allow it to have X amount of "ammo" (possibly by having a CO2 canister in your inventory as a magazine) and you've got to find another one when it runs out. As for having the weapon itself become less powerful over time, I'm not sure if that's possible in ArmA II. But then again, I'm no modder and I can't script to save my life, so I have no evidence to back that up.

    DayZ Update 1.5.3

Yeah, I figured :P I interpreted the changelog as saying that they were fixed.

    DayZ Update 1.5.3

Midayachi, to tell the truth if you're playing the game properly / well you shouldn't be hearing those noises in the first place! :P The only thing I want to point out is that the tent persistence thing isn't working for me. I put plenty of my stuff into my tent, went of a few scav runs in the local area, had to log off once I got back and placed that lot into my tent and then when I logged back in the entire thing was empty. And before you say, while it is possible that a band of survivors looted it, there was so much in there I doubt they would have been able to take it all.

    No girl characters?

Hey, no worries mate. As I say, I should have been clearer. As I said in my first post, some of those female soldiers can pack a frakking good punch! I don't think my gut's been the same since...
  13. evans d [16aa]

    No girl characters?

Yes, I should have been more clear it would appear. In the British Armed Forces, females CAN use weapons and they CAN be attached to frontline sections and squadrons. They are more usualy put into support roles rather than direct combat unless they are vitaly needed. It's got something to do with the way the male mind is wired up and that they would not want the male soldiers risking their lives for any females who may have got injured while in the field. Something about an inbuilt survival of the species thing, I don't pretend to understand it.

    No girl characters?

I hate to say it, but the reason that females aren't in the game handling firearms is because in real life they are not frontline combat troops (at least in the UK). They may go on patrols with the other soldiers as a female search and interaction agent, but other than that they are the medics and the artillery loaders (seriously, you don't want to piss of any females in the British Armed Forces. Arms the width of frakking tree trunks!) and the like. However, as the picture of the addon above shows, the female models can be manipulated and created so they are able to carry weapons. That being said, I think it would be best to wait until there is a way to choose which model you want to use in game so that those of us who want to stay as smelly, sweaty, beautiful, manly hunks of manliness can do so! :P

    Duffel bags\Base Camps

It's very unlikely that duffle nags will be added. The whole point is that it forces you to stop and think "do I REALLY need this?" and if the answer to that is yes then you have to ask "what do I NOT need?" It's those decisions that make this such a great mod. If you could pick up pretty much anything and everything and carry it with you then the game would become either unballanced or it would loose its appeal quicker. Also, it promotes the use of tents and much more scavenger-like gameplay. And that ties in with my next point: While there are no base camps in the game world, you can create your own camps by finding tents and then pitching those tents at another location. You can store items in tents so I think that's essentialy what you're asking for in your last request.
