DayZ playing extremely slow with new graphics card.? Help!
John69 replied to GTAStunting's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
True, now i think its maybe a driverproblem after reading the post properly. But i have one solution for monitoring the gpu and gfx memoryclocks, its just for checking if youre card really goes innto 3D clock mode or stay in lower clock 2D mode. First download MSI afterburner, its a overclocking/monitor program, can be used with ALL kinda gfx cards, not only MSI products. Latest beta can be downloaded from Guru3d here : http://www.guru3d.com/files_categories/videocards_overclocking_tweaking.html Then install and run it,click on settings ---> monitoring . Check gpu temp, gpu usage, fan speed, core clock, memory clock and framerate. That will give you a OSD (on screen display ingame) so you can see if youre gfx card have the right clocks,temp...so on. And before that, make sure you uninstall youre catalyst driver, reboot and install latest catalyst, current 12.11 beta. Make sure you run the driver as "Administrator" by rightclicking on it. Always download the catalyst from AMD site, NOT the manufactures site Also reinstalling youre OS can solve the problem. sometimes dll`s and stuff get messed up when changing the hardware. Use drivercleaner to sweep and clean up any "bad" data left from previous drivers. -
Happy new year. I still have some faith in humans,2013 is goona be greate. Raise youre glass Hellraisers and beerdrinkers Cheers

DayZ playing extremely slow with new graphics card.? Help!
John69 replied to GTAStunting's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Arma II is very demanding on the cpu, it really needs a good solid quadcore to perform well together with a decent gfx card, youre 7850 is just right for the medium to high setting in Arma II. Arma II will need a overclocked cpu (2 core) if you want desent framerate, youre cpu is a bottleneck in this game, thats a fact. Try get a hold on aPhenom x4 or a x6 series cpu (check what youre motherboard can handle first) and you will see a decent boost in frames. Link to benchmark for youre HD 7850, its run on a i5 2500K cpu in the test : http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/03/05/amd-radeon-hd-7850-2gb/3 -
First off, youre cpu might be a quadcore(low clocked), but its old and is not really a good cpu for Arma 2. Arma 2 needs a fairly new quadcore to handle the game well, i think youre old cpu is what causes the low frames. Old tech cpu (AM2) , old ram DDR2, not easy to get Arma 2 to run smooth on that hardware. Maybe some overclocking of the cpu/ram will help(if youre motherboard allow it), and make sure you download the most resent driver for youre graphic card, direct from nVidias website http://www.nvidia.co...aspx?lang=en-us

Will this be fine? http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/52583-ultimate-dayz-graphics-settings-and-tweaks-guide/ If not just google it

Looks like you have a laptop there miss, and like Mr.Fraggle above said, running Arma 2 (Dayz) you need a "half" decent computer intended for gaming, that laptop of youres is NOT made for gaming , sorry miss. You can play flash games so on, but not games like this on that lappy.
-
Arma 2 (Dayz) is a strange beast, the game engine itself is so sluggish that even with highend hardware its difficult to get a decent framerate with ALL settings on max. But this is Dayz, NOT some other FPS game, think again. Anything from 30fps is good in dayz. Back to square one, try google or if you have 1-2 hours of testing time, you can try for youre self testing different settings. Do NOT put all settings on max, that will rape youre computer, Highend or not. Also try turning Off the cfx and see if you have the same performance.

DayZ standalone version release date?
John69 replied to BigZam's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just read here "The future: We are still working towards a target for an initial foundation before the end of the year. But we will slip this date if needed, we will not compromise the project for the short-term gain of meeting this date. The reasons for any slippage would be publicly discussed, and would most likely represent a failure personally on my part to plan correctly. We will be assessing the results of our major architectural changes at the end of next week, and reporting the results to everyone when we have assessed that." New PC Lags?
John69 replied to ss1_queens_park_goalie@hotmail.co.uk's topic in Technology/Programming
You say you have all drivers, but have not listet what version of drivers, the most important drives for a Intelbuild is the INF,Sata and graphic drivers. The most recent AMD driver is 12.11 Beta 8,make sure you install it by rightclicking on it and "Run as administrator" Amd driver can be found here: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/amd_catalyst_12_11_beta_download.html And if you wanna tweak the gfx settings theres a guide here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/52583-ultimate-dayz-graphics-settings-and-tweaks-guide/ Youre setup is really nice, and you should have no problem running Arma2/Dayz on high 30-60 fps Just remember ALWAYS have the video memory on default/normal . -

For starters, can you please write down youre hardware specs. Not easy to reply when we dont know what kinda components you have mate.

i would love your idea on what i did
John69 replied to mrkilljoyxd's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I think the problem is that you have a Intregated graphic card (and old cpu+hdd too), Arma 2 is a demanding game for even todays computers, so adding a dedicated graphic card is recomended. Thats low end "gaming" components you have there, so you will need a upgrade if you want to be able to play the game at a decent framerate. -
Six updater abd dayz commander are just clients to launch the game, you will not loose anything by using either of those two lanchers
-
You can use fraps : http://www.fraps.com/ for showing youre fps ingame. But the program you ask for is : http://www.evga.com/precision/ used for EVGA graphic cards Personally i go for MSI Afterburner, a overclocking and gpu info utility .... its the best there is :can be used with all graphic card manufactures : http://event.msi.com...er/overview.htm New version of MSI ab can always be downloaded from : http://guru3d.com/ EDIT: typos
-
Well said sir.. I noticed this myself, but im playing the game the way i want it anyway, theres so many ways to play this game.
-
First, turn down or off shadows...who has the biggest impact on the fps. Then also turn off Postprocess effects...
-
Same has happend to alot of people here, texture glitch. I just change my memory setting in the video config from high to medium/low. Solved my problem. There are other solutions, but were in alpha,so patience is the best solution i think. EDIT: look here too: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/49740-graphical-bugs/

John69 replied to thxrelentless's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
They claim its a gaming computer, and it has a HD 6670 gfx card, thats a LOW end gfx card. Change to HD6870, or the newer HD 7000 series the HD 7850/7770. They are middle class gfx cards and will run Arma 2/ DayZ with ease. -
What Graphics Card Should I Choose?
John69 replied to Baseballkid9734's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2011/03/15/nvidia-geforce-gtx-550-ti-1gb-review/8 http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2010/10/22/ati-radeon-hd-6870-review/6 I think the gtx 560 SE or the HD 6870 will be the best choise, just my 2 cents. My favourite out of the 3 cards ...the HD 6870. Also to consider, you will need a good PSU min +450W. -
