FPS same on very high or very low settings problem
John69 replied to jamestrendall's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Download Msi Afterburner : http://www.guru3d.co...a_download.html Install and set it to display youre gpu usage along with youre fps. That way you can monitor how much of youre gpu is used when you change youre settings ingame. When correct tuned, the game should use anything from 85-99% of youre gpu all the time.. The MSI afterburner is a monitoring and overclocking utility and can be used with ANY Vendor, not only MSI gpu`s. Check pic: -

DayZ Lag Spikes Every 2 Seconds. [FIXED]
John69 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Whats youre Hardisk drive? Im guessing NOT SSD. Try ramdisk Also is this happening right after you joined a server...then it continues, or do you play for awhile then it happens? -
Im sure the ramdisk will give you a small boost in fps, but dont expect a miracle with that hardware, its worth a shot :)

This is Arma 2 game engine running this MOD Dayz in alpha stage, its sluggish, and you will need a fairly good gaming computer to get it run smoothj, a quadcore is required for sure. Also try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmeLuCQXn-M
-
Screen resolution? Problem one: Youre running a dualcore cpu. Its a dualcore with hypertrading meaning it simulates 2 moore cores, some programs and apps gain performance from this...games not im afraid. Dayz is best with a real quadcore, the game is a cpu HOG, moar cores and ghz=better Problem two: that 160gb hdd, im guessing a old hardisk, if using a SSD some performance will be noticed, smoother gameplay and moore stable frames too. If using a "old" plate hardisk, make sure it have sata 3 and are running 7200rpm or faster. Also make sure you have the latest drives for youre GFX card: dl from official page here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

How can i get the best experience from DayZ?
John69 replied to iCascade's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yupp, sad but true. Arma 2 and Dayz needs a fairly new gamingcomputer from medium and up to performe ok. The game engine on Arma 2 is kinda sluggish and unoptimised, meaning you will need good hardware to run it with desent frames. The Intel® HD Graphics 2000 on youre comp is NOT intended for Arma 2/Dayz... sorry. EDIT: If you can,buy a dedicated graphic card for youre computer, and If you have one of those prebuilt computers, you need to check IF you can add and extra card, and if youre current powersupply will handle the new card. Can you list the full name of youre computer? -

Whats youre GPU usage after my settings compare to youre settings? You can use MSI afterburner to see youre fps,gpu usage and temps ...so on.. DL Msi afterburner from here: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/msi_afterburner_beta_download.html Also DL the RTSS for onscreen monitoring ingame : http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/rtss_rivatuner_statistics_server_download.html Msi Afterburner can be used with ANY gfx manufacturer, its a greate tool for monitoring temps,overclocking,gpu/memspeed...so on

So, no improvement...same fps? What driver are you using for that HD7870? This is latest AMD driver : http://www.guru3d.co...2_download.html And what HDD are you using, you know if its a SSD or a "normal" HDD, if "Normal" HDD you know if its a slow spinning one eg.4800 or 5200rpm? EDIT: I saw youre using Ramdisk Other drivers are up to date? Maybe you messed something up while fiddling with the cfg files

Texture HIGH Video memoey DEFAULT (IMPORTANT) Terrain HIGH Objects Detail HIGH Shadow MEDIUM HDR HIGH Post process OFF Quality Preference HIGH Screen res: If youre running full screen make sure youre INTERFACE res is the SAME as 3D res, thats important Why my suggestions preferense here are higher than youres? This will make the game fully use youre 7870 instead of youre cpu. Try this and report back..

Zombies spawning from vehicles question
John69 replied to victusmortuus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dayz=unoptimised mod...something we goota live with, and the arma 2 engine itself is kinda sluggish.... bad optimised game needs uber hardware to run well. But you wanted to know what causes it...that im not sure of, you need some developers answer i guess. -
Zombies spawning from vehicles question
John69 replied to victusmortuus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When driving into towns the zeds will spawn and youre CPU will have to work hard because of that, causes fps hits, depends on youre cpu mostly...overclock that baby and you will have a better experience. Cpus with high clock and large L3 cache will be the best choise. -
First try set youre game resolution to 1600x900...then try this Then set Quality preference: HIGH Terran detail: MEDIUM/HIGH Postprocess: DISABLE Texture: HIGH Objects Detail: MEDIUM Vsync: DISABLE Video memory: DEFAULT Shadow: MEDIUM/LOW Antistopic Filtering: NORMAL HDR: HIGH/VERY HIGH Antialiasing: NORMAL PPAA: LEAVE THIS UNTIL NOW ATOC: LEAVE THIS UNTIL YOU GET YOURE DESIRED FPS Always have the Interface resolution the SAME as 3D resulotion Try this and report back cheers ...and here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/64576-can-i-run-it-ask-here/ is the right place to post youre questions
