Maintaining weponry / Degradation of equipment

i agree you'd need an icon. if we are talking about maintenance rather than sudden breakage, and i believe that would be the most interesting way to implement it, generally you would notice the gun degrading before it actually needed work. i.e the oil is getting dirty i need to clean it and re-oil. +1 for slow degrading, occasional work required. i'd like a freshly spawned gun to have a random value of damage, meaning sometimes you'd have to fix a gun up before you could use it - very cool feature imo. perhaps the worse condition your gun got the more chance of jams, with each jam removing a chunk of the weapon's 'cleanliness' so that a jam will increase the likely-hood of future jams, with a very very very small chance of a jam even with a weapon in perfect condition. this could get very annoying though, so i think it should be something that might require attention after say 3 magazines worth of rounds for the average AR. you could also have different guns require more attention than others. so an AKM, built like a tank and with sod all components in it would last much longer without work whereas an m24 would need to be checked out after much less rounds.
  2. best idea yet is if you are bleeding and below 9000 health you die on DC. i think that is fair - it only penalises people with no bandages who have escaped and have to answer phone/door, so the majority of the player base will not be penalised unfairly, but it'll hugely stop the classic 'i've been shot but i'm not dead alt-f4 alt-f4' players.

    Hunting knife as weapon

i'm not sure i agree with getting one on spawn, purely because it makes it easier to be equipped for killing animals right from the start. but i agree with the premise for sure.

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

SuffiXUA, most of that won't work. The logout method is not a bad idea and i approve of the removal of respawn (though this might not be possible) but the rest is unfeasible. What if i'm playing on one server and my friends come on and we want to play on another server? i have to wait ten minutes? you can't defeat cheats by affecting legitimate player's experience. Same with the sound/text notification if they are close to you. Yes, this might help stop "doctor who'ing" but is unfair for someone who just happens to log on to a server near another player as they won't know someone is near but the player already connected will. i do like the mmo style wait to logout thing though - perhaps 30 seconds is a bit long though, 10 seconds should do it imo.
  9. invisible roadblock whatnow?!
  10. lag made me shoot my friend in the face with the winchester. i couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes.

    I found a camp at UK41

to be fair, the nervous joy you get from finding someone's camp is far more fun than you could have from going to co-ords given by someone on a forum. fair play to OP for taking them down again though. and i totally agree that hoarding vehicles is fine, for the same reason of it being amazing fun to come across a fully fixed up 4x4 in the woods somewhere!
  12. agreed with Ravin. No point in shooting just spawned players, but up north anything can and will go, so you have to defend yourself. I'm happy to overwatch while my friends go looting as i find it tense enough to be fun as you are constantly second guessing whether you saw something. However, i have also gone hunting many a time involving lying around for up to an hour at a time. it does seem to be common in this thread, so maybe those who have been hunting in RL are more willing to put up with it? I do prefer to work as a pair when on overwatch though. always good to have an extra set of eyes to watch your back.
  13. to be honest if i have stuff i don't want to loose i'll generally shoot on sight up close. i tend to play with friends on skype so i'm often part of a group.. again that pretty much means i'll shoot on sight. and at a distance.. well it depends what gun i have, what sort of mood i'm in and whether it looks like you've got good kit. if it looks like you've got nothing, i'll leave you alone! but alone and recently spawned, i try to assume people will be friendly because i've had some fun experiences that way and you haven't got much to lose. plus you get a nice buzz from the tension of having a stranger with a gun behind you... i do sometimes feel guilty. once, 6 of us were on we were hitting zelengorsk supermarket with three covering from the trees and three going in. all of a sudden i noticed an extra player with us, who knows how long he'd been with the group. and he made me jump. so i shot him.but my friend said he had said hello on in game voice... sorry dude, didn't realise! next time i'll ask him if he is friendly and invite him to our out of game voice comms! [edit] just realised this may be read as bragging or at least saying i'm good. i'm not :P

    How well geared are you?

i got super lucky last night while sneaking around in the stary tents by myself.. picked up an m4a1 SD. then while creeping out i got the drop on a sniper not checking his back enough and took his dmr. and his 24 slot backpack. and all the equipment he had (everything). and the spare ghillie suit in his backpack. and his NVGs. best equipped i've ever been thanks to some luck!
