No no, Golf War. He injured his knee in a Nerf Golfing War, it's a tournament they hold at Toys'R'Us. Come on CS, have some respect for a wounded Nerf Soldier! I taught you better than that. xD

This is false, we have not, do not, or will not ever condone hacking. People who are claiming to be hacking and are from GRT are either people who have been caught hacking and banned from the server. Or are previous members who were banned and trying to cause waives. I can assure you that we do not take hacking lightly and are more than willing to share any information to assist in getting these hackers banned. Feel free to contact me at anytime and we will deal with any people who wish to destroy this game together the best we can. -Ghost

Ok I am not in any way taking one side or the other. The only thing I want to look at is a few variables that everyone is trying to touch on. Rules are rules. Us as Server Admin have to adhere by there, how they are stated, no mater what or fear the issue of being blacklisted. This is something I 100% accept as a server admin, so I continue to do what I must in accordance with DayZ. As initially stated by others in this thread, there is NO rule on shutting down a server. There is NO rule on the amount of times the server can be restarted. There is no RULE on what Rocket stated as a "Living World". If the rules stated that the Server Admins could NOT shut down the server, or were ONLY allowed to restart so many times, or COULDN'T keep it down. Then I am with everyone who says, "BURN THE WITCH, HE IS USING IT AS A VAULT." However, there is no rule. Zero. This whole thread pushes Server Admins against other server admins. The issue isn't him shutting down the server. It's "We keep ours up and lose all of our shit day in and day out, get hacked, threatened for blacklist blah blah." The guy(or girl) probably got tired of constantly being teleported to, killed from out of no where, shooting people who can't die, teleporting for a TDM, seeing guns in the game, etc. My thing is, if he wants to shutdown the server.... let him shut the fucker down. If you feel it is unfair, then you shut yours down. Hell i'll shut mine down and we can all go play some other game together. THEN if all of us shutdown, maybe the Devs will be like, "We should make that a rule, they can't shut down either." TADA, then everyone who cried about it wins. He has to stay open for business, the monthly hack-a-thon continues, and we can all get back to our merry lives here in DayZ. Where no one gives a shit about anyone else, hackers run rampant, and we have to say, "Yes please harder, but don't mind the lube, i'm already used to it."
  4. How about you research, google, and post the result for everyone? In all honesty, a lot of people who are server admins (i'm going to guess 70-80%) have never had to work against a system, that was built in such a way it was born for being hacked. It is a MOD based on scripting, with a security function developed by one man and helped with by a select few. If the ability to just google "How to stop hackers from DayZ server abuse" was listed, and even half the people knew how to implement fixes I would imagine a lot of this would be done already. So no, googling the shit isn't going to work. People need help from the devs to battle this, or just let it continue to slide downhill. DayZ isn't going anywhere, but If they are already getting beaten to the punch from other companies (WarZ / Day13 etc.) I would imagine losing player base may be a priority. Half if not more of the skids get shit on in game, and then again, and then again by hackers. So what do they do? Google "How to hack DayZ". Let me tell you: Google: How to hack DayZ has about 20 different sites on how to successfully hack DayZ Mod. Google: How to defend against hacks on DayZ has 2,000 different threads and 15 websites on how there is NO possible way to defend against it. So Google in one hand, and shit in the other. Do you know what you are holding? A hand full of shit.

    Instance ID How long?

It seems from Developers to Moderators to SA's, we are all just one man teams trying to make this Alpha thing work.

One of our testers got one at the 5 day mark.

    What happened to our server?

Perhaps, although some are given permission to run less than a 40. Again it is all speculation as to what happened to dudes server.

    DayZ Server Suite Alpha 1.0.3

A fear I share as well.

    What happened to our server?

You could only go down a patch, if the server admin of your specific server went down a patch. (Which if you are not the admin, is highly unlikely). I would never roll back a patch on my server, unless instructed to because of broken patch/issues etc. I would suggest trying to contact the admin on the server if possible.
  12. This is correct, BattleEye isn't REALLY the issue as it will stop most script kiddies from pooping on players chests. The real issue is the ability to bypass BE protection, in which case not much if anything will show up on logs. It is the pain SA's live with everyday.

    Why are servers changing names?

It can be a multitude of things. I know admin have the ability to change the names themselves so maybe that is to prevent hackers from targeting their "favorite server". Maybe someone was hosting a server, didn't want to any longer, and then it changes hands. They may be rolling back beta patches that are in their eyes more "stable".
  14. In all honesty I bought it just for DayZ as well, since I wasn't a huge fan of ArmA. However, when servers or down or i'm tired of running around killing zombies I jump on and play. Honestly, kinda fun.
