  1. I'm currently in the process of getting whitelisted on DayZRP right now. It consists of both a friendly community and a lot of cool people. While I haven't gotten to play yet, I've watched quite a few videos and can tell that this is one of the best DayZ communities out there. You won't find any of the things that happen on DayZRP on any other server. My only complaint is that the whitelisting takes a bit of time. I'll update this post later on with my experiences.

    Day Z Videos

I'm in a group called The Chernarus Vigilantes. We haven't done any videos for quite a while now, but we recently got back together yesterday, and decided to set up an ambush. We're not usually bandits, but as we played on public hive we thought it could be fun.
  3. I don't really need to say anything, seeing as everyone has already praised the server sky-high. Best DayZ server I have ever played on. Helpful admins, stable servers and a good collection of added items. Been playing for nearly half a year now, and it's still great in my opinino. Everyone should have the decency to check it out.

    Avatar/Icon, feel free to use/edit

This is awesome. I'm using it as a profile picture for a YouTube-account here. Thanks for the avatar!
  5. Yes. I hate when people block entrances and loot spawns with them. Do they actually have any practical use, except for being used to block stuff?
  6. A friend of mine has this problem every time he enters a server: He connects to a server, everything is jolly fine, only until after the loading is done and a big "Connection failed" message appears. Any help or tips are very much appreciated.
  7. Six Launcher only shows me 6 servers at the moment. I normally wouldn't care, 'cause these servers are low population, but they're American which gives me some trouble. I'm in Europe, so playing on any American servers is out of the question for me. Does anyone know how to fix this? (Also, I just installed Private Military Company. I don't think this is the reason, though)
  8. I had a chat with a friend of mine a couple of days ago. He got angry when he found out that there used to be bandit skins, and he became frustrated with not being able to identify bandits at first sight. So, I told him that the creator of this mod didn't like that feature at all. As we continued to talk he (and myself) started thinking of ways that a player could identify bandits. You know, subtle signs, not anything that would make you run (or shoot) at first sight. The suggestion: Whenever a survivor shoots a player, his heartbeat will rise to the point where a player who looks at the survivor or is very near him can hear it. If that player decided to loot the person he just shot, there will be small bloodstains on his hands/body. Why is this a good idea? First of all, if done correctly, it would be a subtle sign. Secondly, survivors would have the chance (but not advantage of) to identify bandits when close to them. This would also work well to identify snipers who shoots survivors for fun, and not for loot. In regard to "innocent" people shooting in self-defence, I think it only would add an interesting aspect to the game. It adds tension and fear knowing that the person you've been walking along with for the past 30 minutes may have killed a man in cold blood. (I'd like to add that I personally don't have anything against the removal of bandit skins, but I think this may be a nice addition to the mod)

    Subtle signs of a bandit

I like the scars-idea even better. Sounds like an awesome idea.

    Day Z Urban Legends

When I first started playing DayZ, I spawned by a lighthouse. After searching through it and trying to find my friend somewhere around Chernogorsk, I wandered around some docks in the middle of the night. Trying to find and gather whatever supplies were there, I decided to get some flares out and I lit up the area a bit. Now, I knew my friend was close, and we were sure that we had seen eachother atleast once earlier that night. I had no idea bandits existed back then, and when a player stepped out of the dark and aimed his M9 at me I quickly tried to talk to him in the chat. He just stood there for about a minute, and I thought he was typing back to me, and so I waited. A couple of minutes later, I got tired of him and I moved away from the flare and disappeared somewhere behind him. I moved up to some trees and decided to watch the guy when a couple of zombies approached him. I was thinking I could loot his body if he got attacked, but before I could even consider doing so, I heard shots. Loud bangs, probably from a shotgun or a hunting rifle somewhere inside of Cherno. I had a look behind me, just for a brief second. Nothing. Turned around again. Nothing. The flare was gone. The other survivor; gone. The zombies? Gone. 3 seconds later I was dead on the ground, shot to death by what seemed to be three bandits running all over me. That was my first time playing DayZ, and I will never be as scared as when I heard those first shots. (May not be much of a Urban Legend, but it surely scared the living shit out of me. Enough to make me leave DayZ for a couple of weeks)

    Subtle signs of a bandit

I agree with your idea of the increased heartbeat disappearing after 30 minutes, that's a good idea. Now, to answer your question: You don't. That's a part of the suggestion. I should probably make it clearer, but the only thing you get to know when you see a player with bloodstains is that he has recently looted/killed a player. There is no real way of finding out if he's a bandit or not. I think this would add a bit of tension and fear to players, knowing that this person has recently looted another player, but they have no idea if it was for profit or just in self-defence.
  13. Like Kreaol said, the no-gun feature is here to stay. Also, if all players with guns spawned in Kamenka, wouldn't that town be overrun by bandits all the time to kill the noobs with guns? It would be too obvious and very easily exploitable.
  14. YES! I talked to a friend about this a short while ago and the thought slipped away from me. Bloodstains would be both a realistic AND subtle approach to the problem. Wouldn't it be possible to add a loud heartbeat to snipers (or just players who killed a guy from a distance but never looted him/her) to identify the sniper-bandits? I think this sounds like a good idea. Does anyone agree with this?

    1.7.1.5 vs 1.7.2

"Again, I hear (and share) the frustration. Believe me. I want everything to be easy, but it's not. The updates will always be hard. It will get worse before it gets better. But after every main update, people come and say it is the worst update so far. If we rolled back, if we stopped expanding and pushing the limits -then this mod wouldn't even exist. We have to keep going, it's going to be full of drama and difficulties and disaster. It will get much, much worse than this update. But at the end, I think there will be a great game concept. And it take precisely this pain to get there. As I said there is a reason "standard" development hasn't produced this game." - Rocket Also, any word on when the hotfix will arrive?
  16. I don't understand what people are complaining about. Firstly, this mod is in alpha. BAD changes WILL be made. GOOD changes WILL also be made. It's not a final product. Secondly, Rocket has also said that he wants to add more subtle features to the game, like the low-humanity-heartbeat-thing.

Just threw up in my mouth a little

I picked up an AKM and a M4A1 yesterday, and seeing as I had more ammunition for the M4 I put the AKM in my backpack. 10 minutes afterwards I realized it was gone, along with the 2 magazines for it. (Also a couple of hours ago I got stuck in a pond trying to re-fill my kanteen. I lost my backpack, where I had lots of baked beans, a few magazines and some soda. I got out in the end though) So... "1st rule of DayZ: Don't get attached to your gear".
  18. Before I say anything else, I just want to admit that I have been using this "exploit" at several ocassions. It comes quite "in handy" at times, but it's not something I really like to do, and if there's ever going to be a timer, I'd welcome it and shut up. I totally agree with you, despite being what you would call an "exploiter". That's all.
