That was my assumption too, but on this server i found a map and it also shows your position! (I don't have a GPS).

I think this depends on the server. I see a blue icon showing where i am on my map (US 446).

Game purchase only. Studio Developed. Kickstarter. I am not against micro transactions for purely cosmetic items, but they need to drop like all of the regular loot when you die. -
Saving tent after death question

The best I can find is 6 days or more (from the Dayz wiki). You can only pack a tent that you placed yourself.
