http://www.onlinewel...interview-9079/ Bwahahahahaha So. Much. Fail. Edit: He says that they're gonna use the engine that arma 2 uses as a base. However, they now can edit / tweak the engine and implement their own ideas and stuff from arma 3 (!NOT! stuff of arma 3's engine, just the content, though the translation might be inaccurate here) --- Tweak it as much as you want, it's still the same old engine. They're not going to rewrite huge parts of it
-
Well, he said something completely different in that reddit post compared to that interview. I hope he does it that way
-
Where did i say that DayZ will fail? No, in this interview he clearly said that they are going to use the engine that arma 2 uses as a base, not a mix of arma 2 and arma 3 You can't just take elements from arma 3's engine and stuff it into this engine, that's now how it works If they actually DID use arma 3's engine and strip parts from it (or add parts from arma 2), he would've said that I was looking forward to arma 3's engine because there was a chance that it actually fixed the random bugs occuring in this game, plus a new awesome lightning system for more realism, maybe even new netcode I've no doubt that they're going to edit the engine to improve the AI and stuff like that. They might even fix all the bugs in the current engine (though i doubt it, they'll be focused on fixing the vulnerability to cheating). But, again, i doubt they're going to take over more complex additions of the arma 3 engine such as the new lightning or even new netcode, because then he might as well have said that they're going to use arma 3's engine as a base. As he said it, the standalone engine will be way more "arma 2" than it will be "arma 3"
-
Ugh, alright "Again, RV4 is not going to be rewritten from scratch" Right "Using your logic, that engine is going to be crap as well because it's basically a heavily tweaked engine of the original Operation Flashpoint. OMG that's 11 years old, there's only so much they can do!" You claim that rocket's team will be able to do as much in a few month's time as the full development team of bohemia did over the course of multiple years (and even then the engine still has flaws)
-
ARMA 2's engine is NOT the same as ARMA 3's engine For fucks sake, that's the same as saying that a bike is the same as a car because they're both means of transportation
-
So you're saying that graphics have absolutely no impact on the quality of a game? Oh, yeah, you're right, a text based version of mass effect 2 would've been just as good Edit: "to imply" has the same meaning as "to mean something", maybe you should look up the meaning of the world "imply" based on the context it's used in
-
Nowhere did i say that. A pretty engine makes a good game better
-
People on the forums call it Arma 2 engine. Magazines call it Arma 2 engine. Rocket calls it Arma 2 engine. That "name" implies the version of the RV engine that this game is using. Now, the rest of the post is vastly different from what is said in that interview. According to what you say, he's using Arma 3's engine and removing unimportant stuff. According to the interview, he's using Arma 2's engine as a foundation and adding stuff. Arma 2's engine and Arma 3's engine are NOT the same engine. They have the same name (RV engine), but they are NOT the same. Do you have a source where he says that he's going to use the newer version of the engine as a base?
-
What the f, are you guys kidding? Um. Yes. There is. It's the version of the RV engine that arma 2 is using As I've already said, there's only so much they can do about editing the arma 2 engine. Tweak it as much as you want, it's still the same old engine. They're not going to rewrite huge parts of it
-
You can try to put things in the best light, but a turd's still a turd Many people were looking forward towards the graphical advancements of that new engine. No doubt they're gonna tweak "their" engine for better pathfinding and stuff, but there's only so much you can do Source please

Dayz without hackers, dupes and ammo
Elo replied to Jex =TE= (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Once the standalone hits and all the super-obvious cheats have been fixed, people are just going to use more passive stuff like radar hacks which is still gamebreaking in a hardcore game like dayz -
Yeah, I wish these forums would allow us to ignore users, it's getting annoying On a side note, this kind of attention driven behaviour is pretty sad

Hackers basically own any server they want now.
Elo replied to thevadar's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not sure what you're trying to get at but judging by your "im such a cool sarcasm dude" attitude, you probably don't know what you're talking about anyway -

Could you people please stop being tools and start thinking for yourselves? Saying that Rocket can't do anything is BS Detecting teleports is as easy as it can get, it took me less than a day to write a simple tool that freezes my position / teleports me back and disconnects when i get teleported it would be a matter of minutes for rocket to implement this since he actually has access to the source -
Why do people think that standalone is magically going to fix cheating?
-
Battleye was also used for a game called Soldat Game was riddled with hackers

This is pretty much offtopic, but meh, I don't really care Please stop saying that rocket "deserves" all that money he's most likely going to get -

Where can we subscribe to that? -
Too many hackers to the point of not even worth the time to play?
Elo replied to Downside's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
:( Source please, I thought they were going to use some other engine -
No, they don't have to reset the hive to remove certain items from their database

Becoming your typical FPS PvP game?
Elo replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
Agreed. Banditry in this game has changed from "I kill you because i need your gear" to "I kill you for the lulz of it", I think part of the reason for that is pve being too easy -
FFS, all my stuff is on your server, I just died, please bring it back online >:(
