  1. I don't know how I can make this any clearer This is about you saying 5 server fps are sufficient. Which is obviously not true.
  2. What does this have to do with anything You said that 5 fps are sufficient for game servers I said that's bullshit That's all that has happened here Even rocket said that the game does not properly work at 5 ticks / second
  3. No. You were literally saying that 5 ticks /s are sufficient.
  4. You were arguing that even 5 ticks / s are fine
  5. There are so many factual errors in that post I won't even bother Do you realize that 5 updates per second can, worst case, result in a server side latency of 400 ms. That's almost half a second. And that's without the actual "ping" Having to play with a reaction time of 600 ms is not fun. And wasteland certainly is a bad example for a responsive game
  6. That's exactly what latency means Coupled with an average ping of 100ms to 200ms, 5 ticks / second would result in an awful and unresponsive experience
  7. Playing with up to 400ms of latency doesn't sound like a fun experience
  8. What He's worried about servers forcing high graphics on clients to remove any unfair advantages
  9. Yes. I know. That's what the words "average" and "minimum" imply My question is if he's really talking about a minimum of 15 fps, or an average of 15 fps where performance might occasionally be lower than the target of 15
  10. Huh. When rocket says that they are aiming for 15 ticks/s, is he referring to an average of 15 server updates / second (meaning it also goes lower), or an absolute constant minimum 15 ticks?

meh An arbitrary chance to trip depending on the zombies following you sounds extremely gamey and contrived, that's the opposite of what rocket has been trying to do over the past year I like the Idea of slightly randomized running speed per zombie though The more you attract the higher the chance that you have attracted a zombie with a high running speed

did he say that the wrong pathways are related to rubberbanding when the server is tanking? That wouldn't even make any sense at all since the zombies would appear to "rubberband" only indoors then

That's actually not true. Like, not at all. That statement doesn't even make any sense I'm sure you can back this up with empirical evidence A popular example would be Skyrim, especially a modded PC version. Runs just fine without a SSD and I can assure you that it has to do way more on demand texture loading

Since you appeared to be so very confident in your own skills and keep prattling on about your education in that area I assumed you are, or were, working for a major corporation. My bad. Just keep in mind that I don't give a shit about your level of education - nobody in here does. I also don't know where you got the idea from that I have any intention of educating you I'm simply interested in those games that you've created. Where can I buy (or download in case they're freeware) them?

I'd love to play those games. Mind linking me to the triple A projects you've been involved in?

Every modern game streams texture data from secondary storage. Every game benefits from SSDs. I don't see the big deal, unless I missed the quote where rocket said that SSDs are a requirement

It doesn't take much to tell the fans if it's at least a matter of weeks or months. just best and worst case scenarios and their respective timeframes If they've truly just begun testing it sure as hell won't be the fifth

    November Round-up

Why didn't he simply flat out say it won't be the 5th. There's so much uncercainty and speculation because of the lack of proper and clear communication

3.000zombies / 225km² = 13.3zombiers per km² Considering that density will be higher in villages and cities we're probably looking at something like 1 to 5 zombies per km² in the wilderness

    He didn't, actually

What if Dayz was free to play?

Let's not even mention that F2P would open the floodgates for every hacker in the world. I'm actually all for making the alpha more expensive (as in, full priced game) to keep more players from risking their (or their parent's) money by using hacks
  23. The only thing that's confirmed by rocket's post is that the server handles the zombies now Nowhere did he say that they already reworked the AI. It could still be the same old zigzaggin superhuman zombies, except the server controls them now
  24. It should be obvious by now that stability and stress tests haven't even begun yet
  25. Wait. People seriously thought it was going to be released at halloween? And now some of you are pissed off because nothing happened at that imaginary deadline? Like, really? Ithought it was sarcasm You cannot possibly be this deluded
