what is this about the "HIVE"? -
Its one of those games you need to watch other people play and learn from youtube. As for blurry ehat i had to do was play the regular arma 2 and adjust the settings from there. Not sure why but doing it insode the mod makes it weird and blurry. Also this is an alpha for the mod so many features have yet to be made

So got about 10 hours of DayZ under my belt (much more in wiki and youtube videos). Now I have seen videos on how to fix cars where to find high end weapons and other such videos but I never saw a video on what to do when you first spawn. Right now I run to nearest town/city loot what I can and then usually die to zombies or players. Right now I have made it away from the coast and have started heading north after i looted a coast town. I was wondering what more experienced players do? Just run straight for the air field or loot every town on the way or just stick to the coast? I end up dead a lot so wondering if any vets have ideas what you should first do when spawning on the coast.

Hello friends. Is DayZ worth it? (+ add. q's)
Soviet Hawk replied to Zexis's topic in New Player Discussion
You actually play the game Crayola? I bought it for DayZ and never touched the actual game -
Wow you spawn pretty far north up the coast i usually end up between kamyshovo and Kamarovo (think thats how they are spelt). I have avoided chern and elek because no good experience has come from them. Found lots of food and medical supplies but then i get shot or turn a corner into a zombie with no weapon....

note to self make shots count and use high end weapons

Well reading what people have said logging off inside a house on the outskirts of a town seems like a bad idea now... Tomorrow is going to be fun for me T_T
-
Sounds to me like an event that sticks till server resets or the people on the server work together to get rid of the problem

I love it and spent about a week watching videos and overall how hard the game was. If you liked dark souls or demon souls you will probably like this game. I also think now is the time to join in because the more you contribute to the game now the better it becomes down the road. -
I say $9.99 US/Canadian would be fair maybe more if Bohemia aids in the game but as soon as they start making it their game and not rockets I drop all support

Having difficulty?? We got your back.

Going off OP I might give you guys a shot I just got further into the game than I ever had so kinda wanna see how far my instincts will take me -
I think a side chat you can toggle should be brought in. As much as I prefer avoiding other players a bit of chating here and there between cities/destinations would be nice
-
I just play low populated servers till I get slightly geared up so I can fight back
-
I vote no to a gun but I think at least having a hatchet would be useful but maybe not a 100% chance on spawn. Right now i have worked myself from Kemenka to Pavlovo with a AK with one clip. Spent the clip right after I found the dam thing. Now I am sneaking around like a little bitch trying to not get killed......I'm so scared

new player here and curious to this "Freeside Trading Company." What is it?

once the game gets out of alpha steam might do something. DayZ is the reason Arma2 even shot up in sales so once its in beta I could see steam trying something

What should our next competition be?
Soviet Hawk replied to mattlightfoot's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree with LOG!N on this one. In the sense that every one who contributes should get something. My idea will bring a bit more story to the game and help bring ideas like LOG!N's idea. A forum locked down that only certain people can moderate around a journal from a survivor from the game. Made up by the forum posters! First contest could be about the character that we will base our "journal entries" on. Is it a he or she in a group or alone? Is this person sane at first and slowly the "journal entries" we make show him/her eventually going crazy or infected. Possible events for in game can be created from this or locations found. Not only does this idea bring more story to the game but is a mechanism to introduce new possible content. Winning journal entries can get different items in game or maybe even an completed hard cover copy of the journal in real life (just a wild idea who knows). -
One thing I have noticed being a major problem (I think) is a broken bone that causes a player to almost give up on playing because the cure for broken bones is not hard to find, but some times out of the way. Way to fix it is to have a wood pile and a bandage on you. Now you can make a splint to stand up. Wont be running any time till your leg "fully heals" but it beats trying to crawl around and hope to find a morphine injector. I think it just gives players that last fighting chance or drive to live. Another idea to help out (also combines with above paragraph) is to have every one start out with a hatchet or add a combat knife (or something similar) because yes finding a weapon is important but I would like to some how defend myself off the bat. Crawling around a small town in hopes to find a hatchet or gun to fight with is more annoying imo. Not saying give us rocket launchers to start with but I would like to defend myself.

I think what ever happens the ability to ruin the equipment on the body should be an option. How that happens is up for discussion but yea body not being scene but flies around is annoying.
