Cooking doesn't work yet. I'm not entirely sure how many cans it takes to get full. But I do know that eating an entire box of rice, then drinking until it says "I feel full/stuffed" puts you in the "healthy" or "healing" state.

Experimental REAL DAYZ/serverhoping compat loogin
Advent1 replied to Nariquo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
It seems you are mistaking DayZ for Call of Duty. "Camping" or whatever other term you want to spout at for logging, so no one can get your gear is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. "BOO HOO I DIED BY A SNIPER, HE'S NOT GETTING MY GEAR." Please, you need to uninstall the game, you sound like a child who get's upset when things don't go according to his own terms. -

Experimental REAL DAYZ/serverhoping compat loogin

Hello my good man, when I opt into the experimental build, do I simply revert the steps to get back on the main hive? -
Too many barracks and Stary Sobor tents [appeal]
Advent1 replied to DayZbalkan's topic in General Discussion
For those who never really paid attention to the dev updates before SA came out. Their plan from my understanding is, the closer you are to the coast, the less chances of high end military loot. Sure Balota will have all those barracks, but they won't spawn the better weapons like the barracks at the NWAF or say NEAF(none yet at the moment). The map is still a work in progess. MANY areas are currently empty, see those random streets running into each other up north? Most likely a city will be added there. So please be patient! It's only been a week and a few days, there are many changes to come. -

The problem with not restarting the server atleast once or twice daily is that it causes lag, drops FPS, etc. Atleast on the mod it did. Although I'm somewhat positive the issue will persist on the SA. Just my ¢0.02

Random reset when joining another server?
Advent1 replied to JohnFromSteam's topic in General Discussion
Apparently some servers aren't whitelisted yet to the main hive. So when you join them you start out as a fresh character. That happened to me earlier while meeting up with a friend, I QUICKLY joined a high pop server and my character reverted to what I had before. -
Dayz mod didn't have different hives on every server. The official public hive was always together. What you're mentioning is private hives. Which from my understanding, there should be a -few- on DayZ SA from what I've seen. Also, I think it would cost a lot more to have almost every server on a different hive, or a group of a few servers on different hives.

I found mine at a train station. If you don't know how the train station building looks, there is one down the street off the main road in electro next to the fire station. There is also one in Cherno. I found mine specifically up north at a new town. Also, BeardedCap. I found my walkie talkie at the electro fire station. Apparently you can't insert batteries in it and it's features aren't enabled yet. And the rail handguard I found at the balota tents. I am willing to trade mine with the flashlight for a Magpul(green or black) handguard.

For those complaining about KOS, try this please!
Advent1 replied to Frost20's topic in General Discussion
For the last bit... cherno, like other cities, have A LOT of residential buildings to gear up decently. If anything, I would highly recommend Berezino, there is NEVER anyone there and each building has loot in it. Also, there is a school near the harbor which always has either a Mosin or handgun on the top floor. -
This is my "hero" costume. Honestly, even without the 4 or 6 slots for the shirt space, you don't even need it. It all depends on how you play. I see people's inventory all the time and they have like 10 mags and a shit ton of bullets which are not even needed. I carry one 60 round magazine and I've been in 3 firefights withing 10 minutes and I still had around 25 rounds to spare. At MOST I would carry 2 60 round magazines or 2 30 round magazine, anything more than that is a waste of space. Here is my current inventory and I've been surviving for 2 days without dying and havent come close to dying of thirst or hunger;

Differences of realism as IRL and game. (M4 Accuracy)
Advent1 replied to mark3236 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Am I the ONLY one who has had no problem with the M4's accuracy? On the off chance that I do get into a fire fight, or I'm sneaking up on bandits, my shots always hit. The only time the M4 has been "inaccurate" was when firing at a target 300+ meters away. And like the above posters have stated, always adjust zeroing accordingly. That plays a huge role in actually hitting your target. I believe the M4s default zeroing is on 100 and certain scopes default is 200 like the ACOG sight. -
HAHAHA no. 9/10 of my interactions have gone extremely well. Tips for those continously being killed; - Get away from the coast. Head up north, there is almost always loot in every single building. - See someone in fully decked out military gear? Run away. - See someone in a Pay Day (clown) mask? Shoot the shit out of him, every single encounter I've had with them, they have shot at or tried to kill me. I sat in Cherno on a high vantage point and just watched people wearing masks run ariound playing call of duty.

From my experience, the current vests reduce bullet damage and offer protection. But maybe for 2-3 shots MAX before becoming ruined, you do still take damage even with a vest, just not full damage. A man got shot square in the chest with a mosin from 2 meters while wearing a vest and survived. He was jurt bad and his vest went from "pristine" to "badly damaged" condition. From my understanding, if you don't have any vest on, Mosin's are a one hit kill to the torso.
-
Zombies never hit me anymore. When they lunge at you side step to the side at wack 'em with your melee weapon. Keep in mind, apparently the melee weapon has to PHYSICALLY touch the zombie to count as a hit, its not like the mod where you can swing and hit someone 1-2 meters in front of you.
-
What this guy said. The condition of your clothes slightly affects bullets, damaged recieved, and likely hood of bleeding. But bullet proof vests affect bullet damage A LOT. Some guy took a shot in the chest with a mosin, he survived. The guy he shot at with just a shirt? Not so much.

I was thinking the "hero" costume can be the usual get up, but with the baseball cap and any colored check shirt:
-
Yes! It seems so, I was looking for a black one so I could see how it looks instead of the blue one I have. I've joined a few servers and have yet to find another.
-
I wouldn't say all loot is "random" per say, there are areas where certain items have a higher spawn rate. Atleast from what I have experienced.
-
I assume you mean the "Press" vest. It has 6 slots and I found mine at train stations. (You can find one of the train station buildings in cherno and electro down the street of the firestation by the church)

The game needs a bandit system/rewards for being either good or bad
Advent1 replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
From what I have noticed, KoSing has severe drawbacks as of now. If you kill someone, ALL their gear gets the "ruined" condition. If someone wanted my shiny ACOG sight and killed me for it, it would be ruined and they would not be able to see through it due to the shattered glass. It also seems there is a "bandit" skin per say in the game. EVERY SINGLE encounter I've had with people wearing the Pay Day clown masks have shot on sight or tried to bind people. -
Try using what ProGamerGov said, or try using wooden sticks and rags. I haven't found any sticks yet, but I'll confirm it if I do.

Starting with a "decaying loadout" is just silly. Every game has a learning curve. When I started out I was clueless, as I continued making mistakes I became better at playing and started memorizing where most people and the most action is and avoiding those places best I could. If you continuously do not learn from your mistakes and continously do the exact same things and expect not to die, you should re-evaluate your priorities.

Where do you usually roam around? The loot system is currently broken (I think). Loot doesn't respawn, it ONLY spawns on restart, once someone picks it up, things wont respawn in that spot. If you are looting around the coast, leave from there. Everytime I loot towns up north almost every single building has loot. As for the veterans thing... I'm not sure I agree with you on that, out of my 10 or so interaction, I've had 9 of them be friendly, I traded and have had wonderful interactions with almost all of the survivors I've come across. Best thing to do to AVOID being killed is stay away from Balota (highest PVP area as of now), cherno and electro don't seem THAT bad to me, but I haven't been near the coast in two days so I can't say for sure how the situation is in that town. The unconcious bug from my understanding is currently being fixed. Please be patient good sir.
