Scorped rifles need to go or become ULTRA rare

the lack of zombies was a bug. prior to 1.5.5 or so there were hundreds of zombies on each server, but then something went wrong. they're trying to fix it. 1.5.6 is out of the question since it's a broken build. deal with it

Do I really need Arma II: CO instead of just Arma II?
sorophx replied to chirf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you need ArmA CO. BUT that actually means that you need Operation Arrowhead, which is only 20$ in Sprocket. ArmA2 original doesn't have a lot of things that are required to play the mod (Venoms, some weapons, backpacks etc.), on the other hand OA doesn't have Chernarus. that's why you absolutely need CO to play DayZ, but, like I said, you can get it by combining OA and ArmA Free -

+1 to this also, I don't know if you implied it or if it's just hit me after reading your post, but I think there has to be a limited amount of NVGs etc. in the game. for example, if 100 NVGs were spawned already, the game would stop spawning them until at least one was lost, across all servers -
this is not a respawn bug. the servers don't save your progress since 1.5.7 has been rolled out. spent 2 hours today with my friends. we all were rolled back to yesterday's position when we switched servers
-
that's not the point, though. the point is there are too few spawn locations, and a single person can just sit across one such location and kill every player that pops in.
-
my point exactly :D
-
to tell you the truth, I don't measure a weapon's effectiveness by the number of shot it requires to down a zombie. for zombies I have my trusty 1911. your main weapon should only be used to kill humans (unless it's a Winchester, which isn't very good for that)

I tried refilling my flasks at three different "wells", none gave me an option to "Fill". I assumed they weren't working and just used the shoreside
-
you can scope in with NV on? WTF?! D: is this the way it works on all servers, regardless of difficulty settings?

Can I play this with Arma 2: Reinforcements?

neither me nor my friends have ever been able to one-shot a fully healed person with the CZ550. it simply never happens. one time my friend had to hit a bandit 6 times to kill him. lag?
-
Lee Enfield is better than CZ550 by the way (longer range, more stopping power. oh. and CZ550 is not a 1 shot kill. even a headshot won't necessarily kill a person. Lee Enfield on the other hand kills pretty much to any part of the body. and it has a bigger magazine. the only downside is its abysmal rate of fire and of course AKM trumps them both

I enjoyed die2nite for what it was, but it's too boring to keep playing it after I died for the first time

Yes. because it paints the game world black and white. when in reality there are shades of gray in-between.

Murders Sometimes Not Saving After Logging
sorophx replied to adrianscholl's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
same here. killed a guy who was targeting my friend, turned into a bandit (-11 humanity from the initial 2500). humanity regenerates to ~600. server crashes. I log back in on another server - I suddenly have 3100 humanity (2500 + the 600 I regenerated I assume). weird shit -
in my experience a bullet from an AKM to the torso is enough to kill a player. not sure what's going on there in your game, but I do see players teleport all over the place due to desyncronisation. server degradation is what seems to be causing it
-
never heard about him, nobody I know has either. doesn't mean he hasn't brought in people, but making a thread exclusively about him? wtf?
-
^this ArmA Free link (a torrent is even available) in case you can't find it on that piece-of-shit-Steam (it's listed in demos there)
-
first of all, it's called "Chernalag" for a reason. second, I think I saw Rocket mentioning his plans were to make a custom map exclusively for DayZ eventually

Every game has this topic: Females?
sorophx replied to codeine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
a bit off-topic: there are Asian, African, Arab, European etc. faces in ArmA2 already. just go to your profile and edit it. there's a hundred or so faces to choose from. you can also choose glasses for your character -
water and food levels decrease faster when running?
sorophx posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
didn't see this discussed anywhere. sorry, if there's already a post about it. we tested it yesterday, apparently, if you walk, you don't get thirsty for hours, in contrast to running/sprinting. if you run, you have to drink every 30 minutes or so. anybody have any hard numbers on this? -
just look at the caliber. in vanilla ArmA2 that's the only thing affecting damage AFAIK. they're both 5.56

here's some weight to the argument as already mentioned, your FOV is a lot narrower than it should be, third-person viewmode (TPV) compensates for it by allowing you to see the small area around your character as already mentioned, sometimes it's hard to tell whether your character is standing or crouching. since we don't have any UI elements displaying current stance, and even making one step in an upright position will aggro nearby zombies, TPV allows to make less unnecessary mistakes there's this thing, I'm not sure how to call it (English is not my native language), basically, whenever you stand on an edge of something in real life, you don't have to stare at your feet to know that one more step will cause you to fall, you can feel it. in video games there's no such possibility. there are many examples of similar situations. TPV allows you to be aware of your character's body's position at all times. another thing you can do in real life and can't do in FPS games, peek over or around obstacles (walls, for example). since there's no climbing or jumping in ArmA, I don't see how seeing over a wall that's as high as my character is "breakin' imme-shun". same goes for lying behind a rock. are you seriously saying that being able to see what's behind the rock is unrealistic? like, I can't just pop my head from any side without having to expose half of my body in real life? and the last thing, the guys from Bohemia have said they preferred to have both available for the reasons stated above. they let you choose how to play, so what's up with this desire to force everyone to play the game the way you think is right? make your own mod, get thousands of people to play it and then force anything you want on them
