Just remember not to use the zombie face. I don't know why people think it's cool, but it gives me an extra reason to shoot you in the mouth.

Current Gameplay (Not what you're thinking)
Benlandia replied to KWilt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You must also remember that loot spawns on a percentage chance. One person on one server may have different luck than on another server. Also, I never said that experience changed the damage values of a weapon. The fact that your comparing this game to any sort of MMO or level-based system makes all of your points pretty moot. This is not a game. This is an anti-game. It's meant to be cruel and unfair. -
The one I found was not at a spawn point, it was where someone else had left it. Look through the wooded areas for a vehicle. Most players will tell you to check the edges of the map, but I have had no luck there so far.
-
Me and my group were walking through the woods, talking about how badly we wanted to find a vehicle. Not 5 minutes later we find a ural parked in the woods which is HEAVILY damaged. About 3 tires, one engine, one fuel tank, and scrap metal later, we had ourselves a running truck. I would definetely recommend a vehicle unless you enjoy running everywhere.

Current Gameplay (Not what you're thinking)
Benlandia replied to KWilt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The game is not tiered in any way because there is no leveling system and/or required level to use any item. A person on his first play through can (with a bit of luck) get kitted out heavily within the first hour of playing the game (run into cherno/elektro and find high grade military gear). There is a large difference between a learning curve and a tier based system for gear. When I first installed the game I had difficulty starting a new character. Now, most experienced players can get properly kitted out within an hour and not have to worry about zombies. Once you find a hatchet it's just a matter of time before you have military grade gear from deerstands. -
Even if it wasn't going to move to Arma 3, I would recommend the purchase anyway. The game will be a decisive improvement over the original two.

What's the difference in difficulty levels?
Benlandia replied to mccullxch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Most Veteran servers will leave 3rd person enabled, as playing DayZ in 1st person is extremely difficult. The main difference is not being able to see your marker on the map, and not having a crosshair enabled. In any case, you should not be using third person to aim unless it's against the infected. -
Your opinion amuses me. I would take the M16/203 combo over the M4.

Why is Barbwire Infront Of All the Big Places?
Benlandia replied to cowdung's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It is a valid tactic, but currently it is nearly impossible to remove them. Therefore spamming barbed wire in valuable locations makes high-priority areas nearly impossible to access. -
I have a can of Mountain Dew in my backpack as a good luck charm. Also found a can of SPAM that I've been saving for a rainy day.

I'm that guy.

I will usually give people the benefit of the doubt before I get decent weapons. After that though, I really offer no quarter for anyone deciding to challenge me. Also, as I started playing with a group, anyone who gets near us gets shot on sight. If a lone survivor is heading the other way, he can live as long as he stays out of range. If you manage to sneak into town while we're looting, it's nothing personal but your a dead man. This mainly stems from being shot at too many times.
-
Went there last night, didn't find anything other than a clan who had spent several hours (apparently) placing copious amounts of barbed wire outside the control tower / hangars.

It's just as OP as the L85. I like it.

I lol'ed -
I've heard since the recent patch that the L85 had disappeared out of several players inventories. Yesterday I happened upon a chopper crash site to find an L85. Unfortunately when I attempted to pick it up I received an error message stating that I did not have the correct resources loaded to access the gun. Does anyone know for sure if he deliberately removed the L85, or if it just a glitch within the new patch?

Zombies still are not a major threat. Yet I enjoy how if someone is not careful while player-hunting, the consequences of alerting a gigantic horde can be devastating.
-
Most servers I am a regular on are completely devoid of all vehicles. Since these servers are usually frequented by the owner/cohorts, mostof the vehicles will be hidden away at the edge of the map somewhere. It's a pain to look for them, but usually worth it.

Watch Dean "Rocket" Hall's huge Rezzed Q&A for DayZ
Benlandia replied to theelfishgene's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's wonderfully refreshing to see a game designer who is more concerned with how the player is impacted emotionally than by giving them "cool stuff" for the sake of having "cool features". -
I heard a dog companion is in the works to be implemented!
Benlandia replied to Booker (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
2.)Put a little faith in the designer. He did give us this awesome game' date=' remember? Even if you don't like it after implemented, you can always stop playing. 3.) Your disgusting -
Please learn from my mistakes. If you join a server and there are several russian players inside, DO NOT SPAWN. Immediately exit the server and find another. Just lost my character a few seconds after spawning. A player running at nearly 100mph ran up and destroyed me with an automatic grenade launcher. Back to square 1.

Just a quick question, as this has been frustrating me today. If I kill someone, and see them keel over dead, yet they disconnect, the body completely disappears? I've gotten a few solid kills but the bodies seem to vanish after dying. This is annoying since I really need weapons/ammo.
-
Judging from the way you address someone who has an issue with your server, I don't think me or my mates will be playing on it anytime soon.

I'm not a bandit, I just love the hunt.
Benlandia replied to Benlandia's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The thrill of the hunt is greater than any carnal pleasure. -
I shot two guys who were looting the elektro fire station. They both had ghillie suits so I felt no remorse as I picked them off through the tower windows. Luckily their dead bodies had coyote backpacks, and more STANAG ammo than I could carry. Sweet victory.
