    Dallas 22

I've played on Dallas 22 and with/against the 7 ops guys. They always seemed legit and trustworthy to me.
  2. The risk vs reward of playing on a night server just isn't there without NVG's. You're essentially just setting yourself up to get raped by zombies or sniped by the guys using NVG's. Only way I would even consider playing at night is if I died and lost everything. Even then it would just be to make my way back to my tents on my home server.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.1.2 Rolling Update

I believe it means that you have to right-click the melee weapon to bring up a menu, in order to drop it. With other items, you can highlight them, and click 'drop' in the lower right corner.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.1.2 Rolling Update

Did someone really just request that Rocket test the patches before applying them... on an Alpha server? This is an Alpha. We are here to test the patches. You didn't pay for the game. If you can't handle dealing with bugs and broken patches, then wait for the game/mod to finish development before you play.
  5. The only problem I see is that provides a clear advantage to people who control the choppers.

Why is the life expectancy going up?

And server population is less dense. Used to be all servers were 50/50. Now, there are so many servers, that there are tons with only 15-20 people on them. I think the servers have actually outgrown the population at this point.

Why is the life expectancy going up?

Maybe people are dying faster. I'd like to know what your minimum time required is set at. Most people these days either rush Cherno/Elektro for gear, and die quickly... or they kill themselves on purpose over and over to spawn on the east coast. Make those part of your data, and I'm sure life expectancy will fall.

    Do we really need helicopters?

I think they should only have transportation choppers. Chopper with a mounted mingun is a bit overpowered IMO.

    Pending Update 1.7.1 Details

Why does everyone keep commenting on the attacking through the walls? You realize he added the ability to visually elude and escape zeds? That's a major change in gameplay if it actually works.

    where do our vehicles go?

There are no hidden locations. The more remote, the more likely someone will search that area. Many groups just hop server to server searching the edge of the map for camps and vehicles. Believe it or not, that remote, 'hidden' spot you guys have, people have on other servers as well. Let me guess, it's northeast of the dam? or NW of Lopatino?

    TX20 "Suspected Of Hacking"

You sound like a cry baby. I doubt anyone wants you on their server. Next time, just mind your own business.
  12. Why trade when I can just kill you and take what I want? Welcome to DayZ.
  13. Sounded like a lot of speculation from two guys who don't know much about the game. I'll wait for a real interview with 'Rocket' before I start making any speculations on the direction he wants to take.

0.19% or Why I stoped playing

The game isn't about farming and hording loot. Have fun with World of Warcraft.

    Devz, get your shit together.

The game is in alpha, and you don't even pay for it. Honestly, someone ban this chump.
  16. No one want to die. Ha' date=' fair enough. I should have elaborated a bit. I don't understand why people think that just because you can't distinguish one from another now that they have to shoot everybody. The people who are willing to help outnumber those who don't, so not everyone is gonna blast you stright away, and having the attitude that they will is what's driving up the PKs. [/quote'] I think we must be playing a different game. Everyone shoots on sight.

    Unchangeable gender

Did it say anything about not being unable to use the same camou skins as everyone else? Because I must have missed that prompt. No, I missed the huge orange text that warned I wouldn't be unable to wear camou skins, and thus would be gimped compared to male characters. oh that's right, because it doesn't exist.
  18. First off, I recognize not everyone thinks it's a problem. I personally have no problem with PKers, it's what keeps me on my toes. However, I do an issue with rewarding PKers, and not Survivors. It leads to an environment where everyone just kills everyone i.e. the 'shoot-on-sight' problem. Anyways, here is my simple idea. As a player kills other players, their humanity lowers. This is already a function within the game. As their humanity lowers, the rate at which their food, water, temperature, and blood (when injured) decreases at a faster rate. It would start as only a slight decrease in regeneration, and as the player killed more people, and lost more humanity, the rate of decrease would increase. The reason I think this is a good mechanic, is because it makes the player think about the positive and negatives of killing other players. On one hand, you get to loot their items, on the other hand, you're going to need more food, water, heat, and possibly blood to maintain the status quo. This would make targeting newbie players less attractive, as you would be sacrificing regeneration for a Makarav and some beans. It also wouldn't classify anyone as a 'bandit', forcing them into a certain playstyle. If a player decided he wanted to increase his regeneration (to normal levels), he simply would have to increase his humanity by helping others, as opposed to killing others. Anyways, I think something like this would be a step in the right direction. It would make players balance the risk vs. reward of killing other players, while not severely punishing those that want to PK for their resources, as opposed to taking the time to collect it on their own.
  19. It's not a a game, it's a "social experiment". The experiment is how long will it take for the hype around this mod to die out with no new blood, because new players are camped, killed, and ridiculed by experienced players. I give it two more months before population numbers peak and start to decline.
  20. This game is far from an accurate reflection of the human condition. I keep reading this nonsense that it's a "social experiment". Give everyone a gun, and every reason to kill every person they see, and see what will happen? I could have told you the results of that "social experiment" without the need to make a game mod.

This Is Best Game I've Ever Played

Best game you've ever played?!? It's a nice mod, but let's not go overboard. Put in 80-100 hours and get back to me.

IF this was an actual game...

The game wouldn't survive as a pay2play game. You can't just tell paying customers to buzz off. I love the mod as well, but 100k non-paying customers isn't going to impress EA or Activision. People may clown games like CoD and BF3 in this forum, but this mod/game will never even come close to approaching their sales figures. Thank god for indie companies, but large publishers aren't swooning over a game that will send the majority of casual gamers running for the hills.

My solution to the 'shoot-on-sight' problem.

Well, like I said, I'm sure people will just see it as a "punish PKers" thread, but it's about more than that. I live in the NE and have no problem surviving days on end. I just think it would be nice if I didn't have to murder every person that crossed my path (except for the 2 guildies I play with on TS). It would be nice if there were risks and rewards associated with social interactions. Decisions to be made that weren't black and white, but shades of gray.
  24. DaPessimist

My solution to the 'shoot-on-sight' problem.

I realize the people who love to PK want no penalties associated with their playstyle. Like I said, the game wouldn't be the same without PKers. I don't want to get rid of PKers, or even punish the severely. I'm more interested in promoting an environment of choices and decisions, something that would exist in a Zombie Apocalypse. Balancing risk vs. reward. In the current environment, there is no choice or decision to bemade. You either kill, or be killed... and it creates a rather stale environment, for everyone.
