Found this on experimental a few minutes ago: I did a quick search for 'boonie hat', and turned up a thread where someone had posted a pic of a tan one, so I guess they're available in at least two colours. Looks like I've got a new favourite hat.

Right click DayZ in your Steam library, select 'properties', then hit the 'betas' tab on the right, and select experimental from the dropdown. It'll download a patch that'll probably be a couple hundred megabytes in size, and you're good to go. To switch back, just undo that stuff, and it'll download a patch that reverts it, usually another 200mb or so.

Sounds like it is specific to the shipwreck, but just to clarify the bug I'm referring to: I've found myself suddenly sliding while prone. Not vaulting, switching weapons, not doing anything but being prone, and out of nowhere I'm drifting to my right at about a foot or two per second.

I have to wonder if that's specific to the shipwreck, or if that's the same bug that sometimes has me sliding across level ground.

S'posed to be, although some servers would seem to not follow that trend. I've noticed it too, just try a different server.

So far two people have voted 'no', and I can't for the life of me reason why. It'd take next to no time for someone in the art department to mock together a handful of cards, and even if you have no interest in them, you can still sell them and make actual money for your Steam wallet. I can't think of a downside to the idea.

McGarnagle raises a valid point... If the game had prerecorded music, and that music was public domain, anyone posting videos containing it is still going to get slapped with bogus claims from Orchard Music and other fraudsters.

So you hang out on the coast with a backpack stashed half a km away from you, just waiting for someone to come along and shoot you in the knees? That's weird, dude. My point, as it appears you have missed it slightly, is that shit can happen, and it'd be nice to have a reset that doesn't require you to have a particular in-game item or to be near a zombie or other player. I had a server reset on me while walking through a field shortly after spawning once, and logged back in to the same server seconds later only to have broken legs. Indeed I was unprepared for that, didn't expect a server restart to break my legs though. The point of splints and morphine is to salvage your character, why shouldn't we be allowed to throw our characters away?

I don't get why we can't just respawn at any time. It would be nice to have as a fail-safe, and I can't really imagine how it could be abused. I know they're adding suicide, but that looks like it's going to require a pistol and ammo. At the very least we should have a 'new character' option on the main menu or something.

I like the area between Kamenka and Pavlovo. For some reason, I find those fields pleasant to go walking through.

I think your issues have little to do with the weapons and a lot to do with lag and desync.

In descending order, my fave backpacks are: None Burlap sack + rope for crafted messenger bag Childs backpack in green Crafted messenger bag + sticks for crafted backpack Hunter pack Taloon Mountain Mountain backpacks are just ridiculous. They're a big brightly coloured target that you can't see over in first person. I prefer no backpack, as backpacks expand your hitbox, making you easier to see *and* kill.

I let them live. If they don't have a weapon, and seem to be just going about their own business, I'll slink off into the shadows and leave them be. If they look like they're up to no good, harassing fresh spawns and the like, then I *might* decide to intervene. If a zombie starts running at me while yelling 'friendly', however, I will definitely fire a few rounds at them to discourage that sort of silliness.

Aren't all the buildings in Chernarus destructable already? They were in Arma 2. Anyway, I think heavy weapons like these would be just fine. Sniper rifles are probably more damaging to the 'emergent gameplay' thing than any of these would be.

I never dress to look friendly, I dress to not be seen, so TTsKo and an olive or dpm chest rig is ideal. Sure, there are some that might decide that the outfit makes me a bandit, but then again, I'm usually carrying a rifle as well, so those folks would be wise and prudent to avoid me or gun me down before I see them. There are a few clothing articles that I will avoid, though. Payday masks are the mark of a lunatic, anyone who wears one is asking for a bullet. Gas masks, having no real purpose at the moment, seem to be unanimously agreed upon as bandit attire. One item in particular that I avoid is the chest holster, especially if I have no pistol to put in it, as then someone might see it and notice that it's empty without realizing that there isn't a pistol in my hands. I feel like the chest holder, particularly an empty one, might have a subconscious effect on other players, providing them a reason to be hostile. Flip the question around, though, and pretty well the only thing I look for in another player to determine their probable level of hostility is a rifle, and if it's raised, pointed at me, etc. If you're stalking around with a raised rifle looking like you're expecting to have to shoot someone, then I'm going to assume that's your plan, and act accordingly.

The inevitable character wipe next patch will work, though:D
