I'm a sucker for an AK, and for a pistol, I do love myself a Glock. For sheer cool factor, neither of those can be beat.

Has Problem With DM, Gets Classed As "Carebear"
Blaaaaaaag replied to grishnakah's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think you're agreeing with my general sentiment, then. I've shot fewer survivors since the removal of the bandit skins, don't know why that is. I never had a bandit skin, but a week ago I was actively hunting people for fun, nowadays I'm just trying to keep to myself. My point in that post was to counter the OP's assertion that removing the bandit skins has caused all hell to break loose... It does seem a more violent place out there, but I don't think the lack of bandit skins is the reason, just the excuse many use for things they'd do anyway. -
Has Problem With DM, Gets Classed As "Carebear"
Blaaaaaaag replied to grishnakah's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd like to challenge the assumption that it's the removal of the bandit skins that's causing all this perceived chaos, and propose that it has more to do with the mod's doubling in popularity over the span of a couple weeks, and attracting a larger, overall less mature audience. Of course, this can't be proven, or even supported with circumstantial empirical data, but it's my theory, and I've never been wrong about anything yet. -

As a nerd I find this generalization offensive and inaccurate. -
The monopoly of private parties is upon us.
Blaaaaaaag replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A week ago, I used to be able to lone-wolf it around electro in the dark without being seen, not feeling threatened at all, but in the past week I've been sniped a few too many times to want to keep doing that. I pretty much won't play now unless I've got someone on my mumble or steam chat watching my back. I have no idea how to make the idea of solo-ing this mod more appealing... Next time I want to play and don't have friends around to play with, I'm just gonna play Arma. -
Cheers for that. What Rocket really needs to do is start selling skins for real money, and have them persist through death. There's a fortune to be made there I tells ya.

Alrighty, well there's another 10 bucks Valve and Bohemia can split up... Another question: What button toggles the 3rd person view? I've never used it, but am gonna have to at least briefly hop on a server that allows it and take a screen of myself, or capture some vid with that perspective.

Are both skins in the BAF addon? I was under the impression that the camo was from PMC and the ghillie from BAF, if someone could clarify that, that'd be sweet. Also, does simply buying and dl'ing the addon from Steam automatically upgrade the textures my game would use, or would I have to copy/move some files around?

That guerilla warlord skin looks pretty badass, I'd give up hauling around a pack to have that one. Really, though, I'd just like to look dapper. There should be a selection of Armani suits and tuxes available.

Are the new female skins sexist?
Blaaaaaaag replied to arreally's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This thread is really dumb. The new female model isn't even remotely attractive, I can't see why anyone but a horse-faced, deformed-assed woman that vaguely resembles it might complain. I'm not bitching about the game not having a beard available that's as fugly as my own... This game is beardist! -

Moderators please revive my health.
Blaaaaaaag replied to THUNDERMINE's topic in New Player Discussion
It's alpha, you're going to lose your character a bunch of times before it hits beta, so you may want to grow yourself some tougher skin. You'd might as well assume that with each patch you'll be starting anew. -

Blaaaaaaag replied to DJKhaled's topic in New Player Discussion
If I have 5 rounds left for my pistol, and I say I have 5 bullets, that's correct, unless I've been shot and am storing extra bullets in my body that I haven't accounted for. So I'm probably gonna keep calling them whatever springs to mind. -
Music and Sounds, copyright claims
Blaaaaaaag replied to Luieburger's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Re-uploading a fixed version of the video was your best bet, sending an email to The Orchard was pointless. No human was involved in their specific claim against your video, and they don't care anyway. Youtube has an automated 'content id' system in place that flagged your video, then when you made your claim against it, The Orchard automatically confirmed their claim on the material without so much as looking at your video. It's what they do. Worse yet, the 'content id' system is extremely flawed, and between it and fraudsters like The Orchard, many claims wind up being made against folks who upload purely original content of their own creation, who then have to either allow The Orchard to monetize their material or remove it. Read this, it's pretty interesting: http://fairusetube.org/youtube-copyfraud As for what can be done about this crap, well, nobody knows. I suppose they'll have to wind up filing a claim against someone with higher-paid lawyers before this can possibly bite them in the ass. Good luck with your new vid, hope you don't have to take any more shit from these shysters. -
Why does this game punich you for going OFFLINE?!
Blaaaaaaag replied to zalman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So if your character doesn't vanish, but is somehow doing productive things of his own accord, then why can't he feed himself while you're not watching him? He can apparently stealth around avoiding the zombie hordes and magically wind up in the exact place you left him just in time for you to arrive at the helm again... I don't think you can have it partway on this issue. Either your character isn't there (which he isn't) or he is there, and my crew of bandits are doing obscene and unspeakable things to his unresponsive body. If you read rocket's post, you'll notice that it wasn't intended to be a simulation of anything, just a leftover mechanic that has yet to be removed. Fair and balanced? I think you've missed the point on that one too. We, the players, are the ones doing the balancing. -
Why does this game punich you for going OFFLINE?!
Blaaaaaaag replied to zalman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So if you didn't vanish from the world, then you were also attacked by the zeds that would've inevitably tripped over your body, so you'd log back in bleeding and need immediate bandaging. They'd eat through your shin bones, so you'd naturally have to consume your morphine and painkillers, too. It'd be ridiculous to think that all this would happen and you'd sleep right through it, so you should have a number of bullets subtracted from your inventory to simulate the fight you'd have put up. Also, when you log back in, those zeds should still be there, so you'd have to kill them for real before you can move on. And then there's the matter of what bandits like myself would've done to your body while you're not attending to it... for one, we'd have looted your pack. You don't want to know the rest. Making any sense yet? It adds realism, and immersion, albeit it's added while you're not there to enjoy it, but it's there all the same. Deal with it, carebear. -

Why does this game punich you for going OFFLINE?!
Blaaaaaaag replied to zalman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How does this mechanic add realism and immersion? What is it intended to simulate? Cite one example of how this is realistic' date=' and I'll throw it back at you and show you how every item in your inventory should have to be used the moment you log back in. I don't actually mind the inconvenience this mechanic causes, but I do mind that it seems completely arbitrary and inconsistent, and no one has yet even offered up an explanation for how it isn't those things. Fucking exactly. Rocket's explanation was perfect, so now we don't even need to discuss this anymore. I'd just like to throw a massive "I told you so" out there to all the... uhh... let's just call you guys "survivors", that have been cheerleading this broken mechanic. -
Why does this game punich you for going OFFLINE?!
Blaaaaaaag replied to zalman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I keep seeing people defending this mechanic by saying "just have food and water handy when you log off", which is all well and good, but not once have I seen an attempt at justifying it. What's the reasoning behind it? Is your character supposed to be in some sort of living state in the world while you're offline? If that's the case, then you should be fair game for zombies, and should have to apply bandages the moment you log back in to stop the festering wounds on your ankles from the 3 days of being nibbled on. Since we're arbitrarily having to use items from our inventory upon login, let's also find a reason to use our morphine and painkillers. Better yet, let's just change logging out to equal respawning. Log back in, start from scratch. Might as well. -
Music and Sounds, copyright claims
Blaaaaaaag replied to Luieburger's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I feel like I have to reiterate or clarify my last post in this thread... Orchard Music are scumbag liars, and they make claims on all kinds of shit that isn't theirs, simply because they can. Do not let them monetize your video, or you'll just be an enabler. It's better to take your video down, and upload one with either no music, or music you own/have an agreement for. -
Music and Sounds, copyright claims
Blaaaaaaag replied to Luieburger's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The Orchard Music makes claims on all sorts of public domain shit because they have more clout and know you can't do anything about it. I think you should take your vid down, re-record it with your music volume turned down, and repost. Don't give those scammers a dime. -
Why you want survive in zombie world with not woman alive?

Dynamic spawn positioning
Blaaaaaaag replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think that if this issue is to be addressed, it should be done by getting rid of the persistence across all servers aspect. Maybe make it so when you hop servers, you spawn somewhere completely different. Keep the same gear or don't, doesn't even matter to me. I'd be perfectly happy to have a completely different character on each server I joined.
