I would have no issue if a server script checked for illegal weapons and auto-kicked them for it, not banned, kicked. The problem with the rule against picking up hacked weapons, is that there is nothing to stop one person in a group spawning them in, and then everyone else picking them up. Also, asking for evidence from the logs can be more difficult for admins to detect as a lot of the cheats bypass the logs. What would the Dev's stance be on servers that kicked for illegal weapons? -

I was sceptical about this ... I've only found one can of mountain dew, drank it, and went to green mountain with my squad. found the jeep. Repairing the jeep when my squad was killed by a teleporting invisible cheater. I've always put that down to the curse of green mountain .... but maybe it was the dew?

The Sadist - Runs up to unarmed survivors and asks them if they have morphine. If they say "no", shoots them in the leg and runs away. The Tour Guide - Has NVGs, Runs up to unarmed survivors on night servers. Leads them deep into the woods then takes their flashlights and leaves them there. The Zombie Herder - Watches for survivors being stealthy, crouched or proning, and sneaking into a town. Runs down into the town while shooting a Lee Enfield. Attracts a horde of zombies and runs to survivors location. Circles around the survivor a few times screaming "HELP ME!" and then runs away.

So many problems with this statement, I don't know where to start .... *sigh* Admins do not have ESP. Admins do not know where every vehicle and player on the map are. How do you know it was an admin that found the vehicle? Do you know how to "save" a vehicle's location? Was the server restarted in the time you were away? If the vehicle was hacked in, you do know it would disappear on a server restart. Did you park and hide the vehicle in the center of Cherno? -

It is not about balance. It is not about being over powered. It should be the most coveted piece of kit in the game. It is not a good primary! The FOV while using it scoped is bad. The weapon can be zeroed but doesn't seem as accurate as other assault rifles. It is not SD and agroes zeds, so it is not the best secondary weapon either. Its large scope reduces FOV in first person. Target acquisition with it is poor. Switching between NV, IR, and normal vision takes time to adjust and leaves you vulnerable. The Positives It has IR It takes Stanag rounds I watched a squad of six experienced players with 2 of them get wiped out a couple of days ago. Admittedly, there may have been stream sniping involved. The mod is not supposed to be fair. If the L85 didn't exist, there would be calls to remove the AS50 ... oh wait. If the L85 and AS50 didn't exist, there would be calls to remove the M107 ... oh wait. If the L85 and AS50 and M107 didn't exist, there would be calls to remove sniper rifles ... oh wait. If the L85 and AS50 and M107 and sniper rifles didn't exist, would there be calls to remove MGs, or SD weapons? The problem is the effect duping the item has, not the rarity. For the majority of players, getting an L85 still has them jumping around like little kids on christmas morning. There are bigger issues to worry about than the tiny percentage of players with an L85. -

0.87% chance to spawn in one loot spot. Choppers have have many loot spots? 4,5,6 .... so it's .87% x (number of loot spots per chopper) x (number of crashed choppers) = not as rare as everyone thinks. -
We started a brand new server. Still setting it up. Organising server files etc., opened to the public, by accident, as still in the setting up process, 14 people joined. Shut it down again, apologies to the 14, (it didn't even have an official name at that stage). Opened up again a few hours later, one of our guys joined it to see if it was running ok, within a couple of minutes, a chopper was spotted flying beside the radio antenna at green mountain. So, again, brand new server, open for only a couple of minutes, and there is a fully repaired chopper, found, repaired, and flying. Something not right there. Anyway, our guy starts recording, and the miracle chopper on a server minutes old, crashes into the radio tower, 2 players die. Se1k, and Kill_Boss, you guys are complete losers. Congratulations.

Server is 2 mins old. Guy recording is the first one on. About a minute later, he starts recording. You know these guys or something, or just have a problem with admins?

I'm starting to believe that even though they can appear randomly, the main reason for them is hackers using the in-game menu's as selection menu's for their cheats. When they appear on our server, we usually have an "incident" shortly afterwards. -
I get that this is an Alpha, and that it was an experiment. But people have to realised that it is about to hit 1,000,000 players! The experiment was a success! Time to stop calling it an alpha. I know that the stand alone version is now being developed, and I know that absolutely no one has paid for DayZ. But the admins DO pay for the servers to run it on, and we wouldn't be here complaining if we didn't care about our regulars and communities. When was the last time an alpha had over 1,000,000 players? I have no idea what is happening behind the scenes, but we need at least some official acknowledgement that you are hearing us, and not more "it is an alpha."

Can't believe I just stumbled onto this from another thread. Sounds great. My only concern would be admin abuse, but by hiding the last few co-ords, it would limit it. Keep up the good work. -
Look at the thread topic. "DayZ Radar" .... then try the link the OP posted ... it is not there anymore, I has been removed ... strange. Do a search for "DayZ Radar" and it comes up with the site of one of the most notorious groups. It is what they call their tool. If you think a tool like this won't be abused, you are incredibly naive. If this log parser isn't a cheat, i'm wondering why the links were removed, I'm wondering why when I search for the topic, it directs me to a certain group, and then I start wondering about the OP being based in NL when this same group operate from there. So there is either an understanding here, or the OP needs to be reworded.

I have learned more from this simple post about admining and what to look for than in any other post on the forums for the last two weeks. Beanz for you sir. At the risk of railroading your thread, do you know of any threads, or sites, that give experienced admins, but ARMA 2 server setup noobs, a comprehensive setup guide for their servers? Things like how to set up daily log files automatically, basic script detection files or lines to add to the configs, how to set up rcon protection from the cheat that now grants rcon control .... etc.? Thanks in advance. -

At 1,000,000, Battleye will do a ban wave, and the numbers will drop back down by a hundred thousand or so. Then we can look forward to hitting 1,000,000 again. (exaggeration intentional) -
possible that he actually did want a ghillie suit .... and now that he has one, is duping it in order to trade for other highend gear. Regardless, honorable story.

If I remember correctly, Rocket has said in interviews that he saw Chernarus as a possible starting map and that leaving the Chernarus map area would eventually lead you into other maps/areas. Personally, the off map area of Chernarus is almost the same size as the current playable area, and I would love for the playable area to be expanded into the offmap area, with new towns, roads, cities, rivers, and bridges added.
