Admin from US 430 Atlanta Ban, abuse and rude to the players.
osirish replied to tommy_gum's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Not rude .... admin was qouting a famous movie "Babe." Nice sense of humor from the admin. It means you were doing something you shouldn't have and the admin had had enough. -
+1 for the title .... Troll level expectancy 7/10 -1 for the post .... try harder. 1/10

Has hacking gotten any better since last month?
osirish replied to SpeedyBanana's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Worse, if anything. We're now encountering "groups" of skiddies who server hop together and do what they can to destroy the server before leaving. More and more cheaters being banned every day. Thankfully, vigilant admins are catching a lot of them, but banning them after they've done their damage is too late. Players can post their experiences with cheaters and there seem to a lot of them, but admins are seeing a bigger picture and tbh, it is shocking. -
Roll on....hack free zombie fun!?
osirish replied to Noctover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
TBH, I'm following WarZ quiet closely. I'd like it to work. Like the OP, the current state of the mod is disheartening. Having said that, I'll probably ending up buying both games, like I'm sure many here will. I'm not favoring one over the other, and in the end, the consumer wins. Besides, WarInc is ftp, and I imagine that WarZ will be eventually too. -
Topic title is misleading .... there is no "issue", only a little bit of justice and many tears.

Standalone Price Tags - A Solution To Cheating?
osirish replied to s4pphire's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Which is why I made the suggestions I did. If a system like this was used. It is "your" choice. If you don't want to tie an account to a card, you would be free to buy the game like you normally would, play it like you normally would, and the only difference would be that you would be playing with other players who choose to play on untied account servers. Anyone cheating there would be free to go out and get another key whenever they are caught. As for being trusting with information. I use paypal and steam wallet almost exclusively. I have no problems with a games account tied to a source I trust. -

Intrigued or confused? Setting up accounts the same way as it works for subscription games, but not actually charging a subscription, simply means providing your details on account setup. Some companies i.e. paypal go a step further and charge your credit card a small amount and then refund it when you provide the code the charge showed. If you have ever used a credit to buy a game online, you do know that those companies still have your details and that they are linked to your account? Where do hackers come into it? -
Can an Alienware M14x or M17x run DayZ on Max Settings?
osirish replied to lttankor7's topic in New Player Discussion
Using an alienware m17xr3 with no problems running any game at max settings. DayZ, BF3 ... no probs. Extremely happy with it. Would I ever buy another one? not a chance. This one is a replacement for my previous Alienware that gave me nothing but problems. I ran for about 10 months and then gave me 18 months of hell. At least 3 service people to my door to replace parts. One return to the company when it wouldn't even boot. They "tested" it and said nothing was wrong. A week later, it returns, and still wouldn't boot. After months of complaining, I demanded a replacement. The replacement offered was actually a downgrade on my previous system, but the Dell legal team basically told me to like it or lump it, due to "depreciation" of the value of the original, despite the fact it was unusable for almost 18 months. They took 66% off the original value of the laptop, and offered me 34% of the price I paid back, or the m17x. They refused to extend my warranty to cover the time the original was out of service too. When an alienware laptop is working, it is a joy, but once it stops, it is a nightmare. Upgrading is almost impossible. Difficult with any laptop, but even more so with an alienware. Home repairs/replacements are impossible. PC repair companies won't touch alienware with a bargepole. Replacement parts have to be purchased from Dell because generic ones won't work, and these parts are up to 300% more expensive than you would be able to source them independently. Even upgrading your graphic drivers can be hell (ATI catalyst won't recognise Alienware systems due to "legal issues" and the only drivers you can get are from Dell which are usually 6 months behind.) I love my laptop, but know that the next time it dies, I'll either build a new pc, or if I need a laptop, it won't be alienware. -
Standalone Price Tags - A Solution To Cheating?

MW2 was completely destroyed by cheaters. MW3 seems to be the same according to reports. BF3 is infested with them too. All games that were 60 ->200 bucks depending on dlc and premiums. A solution? Maybe not a subscription model, but accounts should be tied to a credit card. Purchase the game through the usual channels, create an account, and tie it to a credit card/paypal account/ steam wallet etc. that can be used for DLC and expansions. In the event of an account ban, it prevents any future accounts being tied to that credit card/paypal account/steam wallet. For players who don't have a credit card, they could purchase the game through normal channels, but would be restricted to playing on servers without credit card account verification. Alternatively, with permission, the account could be associated with mom's, dad's, granny's credit card and would then be tied to the account. (gift purchases etc.) A player cheating and losing their account could still use the credit card in order to purchase a new copy, but would not be able to tie the account to it, meaning the account could only be used on unverified servers. And of course, any blacklisted credit cards would also be invalid for account setups on future products. -
@armyboy Agree that some admins can be quick off the mark to accuse others of cheating, but saying you ghosted, and then that you were playing legit, doesn't sit right. If someone suddenly appears in the middle of a camp, that is otherwise blocked off to outsiders, and kills two of you, what would your first thought be?

At the moment, there is no weapon depreciation in the game. The better weapons will be kept in circulation and become more common, regardless of duping and being scripted in. Hiding bodies is one of the few legitimate ways to remove weapons from the game. If I'm already geared and have taken what I need, I'll usually hide the body, heck, I even hide bodies I stumble across and haven't killed. I also use my backpack to "eat" weapons I've found to deny them to others. You just need to tell an unarmed survivor that there's an AK in the firehouse, and have them find you a few minutes later and kill you with it, to start doing this. I've no problem with the current game mechanic of sinking into the floor. If a player "dies" and respawns knowing exactly where to run to, in order to gear up again, that's just as unrealistic. By leaving the body intact, I'm also denying them the fun and adventures of having to scavenge, avoid zombies, and gearing up again, and am thus destroying their gaming experience in DayZ. So hiding the body is really doing them a favor in the long run. ;)

@ -DarylDixon- then you have been extremely lucky. I'm 39 this month, and I've encountered so many cheaters, that the prospect of starting over, maybe multiple times in one day, has driven me away from the mod. I watch youtube vids of others playing, livestreams, and lurk on the forums, but just can't bring myself to start again knowing the effort will be for naught because an 11 year old (or someone with the mental age and social responsibility of a preteen) decides to kill me and everyone else on the server at the click of a button. I'm subscribed to over 40 youtube Dayz uploaders, and the vast majority aren't making vids any more for the same reasons. After a serious motorcycle accident and a recovery that is taking years, DayZ and other games are one of my outlets to stop me going insane from being housebound. Cheaters have no concept of other people and their circumstances. They simply don't see other players as people. All that matters to them is their own instant gratification. When people defend cheating and/or berate others for thinking that cheaters are the scum of the earth, because it is "just a game", for some of us, it is more than that. It is an escape, and cheaters violate and destroy that for us.

Will rocket ever stop getting his wig plucked in interviews?
osirish replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Go read Rocket's Reddit interview .... a lot of your questions have been answered already. Standalone will be running on the Arma 2 engine with elements of Arma 3 .... (VRS 2.5 if you like). It will be using Chernarus Plus (new areas and more enterable buildings). -
DayZ community supports Hackers and scripters
osirish replied to ShigZ's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Completely disagree. If normal players are "bored" with a game, they stop playing it and move to another one. Cheating because you are "bored" is not normal behaviour and is used as an excuse for being a immature dickhead. Anyone claiming to have cheated because they are bored, needs to have a period of self-examination and question their own mental well-being.
